Heartbreaking ... Deaky looked so broken and the pain in Brian's eyes and on his face ... I'm in bits here. I didn't know Brian could sing like that ... what a beautiful tribute to Freddie. We'll always remember, forever.

The symbolism in this song runs deep… "A hand above the water, an angel reaching for the sky"…just look at an image of Freddie's statue at Montreux, Switzerland, overlooking Lake Geneva. You'll see it. "They're only flying too close to the sun"…in our solar system, the planet closest to the sun is Mercury. Don't forget that Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics. He knows these things. Many of the lyrics are snippets from other Queen songs…"tricky situation," & "such an operation," for instance. I think you will find more as you listen to more of their songs. And the ending scene, the champagne glass on the piano, the single shaft of light, the sounds of footsteps & a door closing, these need no explanation. And "cut," that's the end. It is all so sad, & so beautiful.

This was the bands goodbye to Freddie. It was a Goodbye and a memorial to Freddy. It has a lot of pictures, a lot of older pictures, a lot of people probably haven't seen. A lot of video of Freddie. if you are a huge fan like I am, bring a box of tissues, you're going to need it. They did a beautiful job. They Incorporated some of the song titles or lyrics into the song like tricky situation, it's a beautiful send-off. In the beginning you will see the first Queen album with the spotlight just for Freddie and at the end you will see the champagne glass left on the piano for Freddie. I have yet in all these years since it's been released, been able to make it through the song without tearing up.

I was too young to realise what had happened when Freddie passed away, but years later my parents still cried that he'd gone and I never understood why until I saw this video when it was released, it broke my heart, I'd grown up listening to Queen thanks to my parents, and I finally understood why, that he meant so much to so many people, even to me, he still touches people so deeply to this day, that he'll never be forgotten, and I think that's why I and I'm sure most others, still cry every time hearing this song. Truly, thank you.

Have you heard some of his other songs here on KZbin? There are many, all worth listening to (again and again). My favorite is Too Much Love Can Kill You, which he sings on his own. The depth of emotion shows on his face and can be heard in his voice. Brian wrote it during the troubled times between his first and second marriages.

@@dianefowler8779 Wow I didn't know the song Teasin' Around until now. Thanks I would have never found that, I always was wondering about Brian's Voice because there are no Vocal Range Videos/There is nothing on google which shows His Vocal Range with notes. Only on Freddie and Roger. But on that song I could keep an eye on it. Basically on the song Teasin' Around Brian's lowest Notes are my normal Talk Voice lmao (and I'm 15).
@dianefowler87794 жыл бұрын
To me, Brian's voice reaches from my ears to my heart to my soul. That's the range I feel, the true, pure emotion and feelings in his voice - WOW! Glad you enjoyed Teasin' Around. It dates from the 1930s I think, and as usual, Dr. May is spot on with his style and arrangement, although that is not a surprise to any of us!

Yes, there was a kind of friendship and respect. Brian and Roger later said that they were always being questioned when it appeared that Freddie was sick, but they were both very loyal and lied, lied and lied, rather than give away the truth to protect Freddie as long as possible.

You mentioned that what would Freddie be like today if he had lived. I'm like you, what would he be like and I can only image. However, it was said in an interview that he knew that he wouldn't be able to perform like he did. He wanted to end he career on a high note but if he did so on; I can see him being the extrovert that he was. I think that he would love to see the acceptance of the alternative life style and that he wouldn't have to hid as he did.

Awesome reaction. I loved both the music video and the making of documentary. there are actually several behind the scenes clips of other songs as well. and other clips with Brian and roger's audio commentary. without question, Freddie was really, truly like a brother to them, not just their frontman. I could tell on Brian, Roger and John's faces and in their voices, their sorrow is crystal clear and they are doing all they can to keep it together and not break down crying. (not that I'd blame them if they did). Mercury Rising isn't the most reliable documentary. here are a few documentaries with far better detail about the band and Freddie with interviews of the actual surviving members, friends etc. this one is called days of our lives: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2OxgKyGfp2So5o&frags=pl%2Cwn (I think thats the one where Roger tells about getting the call) and there is another one more about Freddie, his childhood, his private life, his family, Mary, party life and last days with interviews from family, band members, assistants and even Mary Austen herself called Freddy Mercury: the untold story. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn-3XnyIqK1nfJY&frags=pl%2Cwn enjoy.

I don't believe that Brian and Roger ever exploited Freddie. They are helping keep Freddie's work alive and appreciated by following generations. They were loyal to him to the end. I think the squabbles they had while writing songs were because they were four brilliant musicians, each seeing a different direction for a song. Of course there would be conflicts. But they managed to work things out, and we are here to continue enjoying the results of all of their wonderful works!

They did anything and everything to protect him, he was bound to notice. I don't know if you heard the song "Was it all worth it" written by Freddie. I appreciate your sensitivity. Thank you. I have the promo single of this song, & have listened to it dozens of times, yet it still tears me up. It is not masochistic on my part, but cathartic. There's a lot in life to feel sad about, & it isn't good to suppress our emotions. I'm 83, and can tell you for certain that grief is cumulative. Now, to cheer you up, listen to the Queen Official Lyrics video of Man on the Prowl, a testosterone-driven rockabilly song from Freddie that will make you laugh. It's (almost) self-parody, & really quite a lot of fun. I would also encourage you to check out Angelina Jordan channeling Screamin' Jay Hawkins with "I Put a Spell on You" when she was 10 years old, a talent worth your time to discover. Watch the black & white version.

I've never seen your videos before but have to say this....you would make one lousy poker player! You wear your heart on your sleeve. Your eyes and your smile make your commentary unnecessary. Thank you for your heartfelt response. If you want to enjoy another of Brian's wonderful songs, try "39". It is about pioneers leaving earth to find a new home because earth is dying and they find "a world newly born". When they return they have only aged a year (of course Brian would understand being an astrophysicist) but everyone they ever loved is long dead in "the land that our grandchildren knew". He realizes he will never see anyone he loved again and it ends with, "for my life still ahead, pity me". He has to live the rest of his life alone never knowing the "touch of your hand". It makes me want to cry. The man has such compassion. All the best.
