Glad you enjoyed Courtney! She is absolutely awesome!! It's been a long time since I've seen an artist with such stage presence and passion and such a powerful voice for such a young girl!! You should watch her audition on America's Got Talent 2018. She was just 13 and blew everyone away with her voice and energy and she got the golden buzzer! She's special for sure!! :)

Word is she will release her first album of originals in the next month, or two. She has always favored 60's & 70's music (Joplin, James Brown, etc.) but has recently taken those four pop songs and "courterized" them (ie, added some nice grit, rock and soul, and improved them markedly). I love this young singer she sounds like a seasoned veteran of old and I agree with you, she should stick with this rock and soul kind of music no matter what her detractors say. I think this girl was a child prodigy from the begining, she has videos from the age of 9 that are unbelievably amazing and I hope and believe she is now on the verge of becoming a rock superstar. She has an album of original songs set to be released around the first of the year and she has an EP available now of the 4 covers on her VEVO channel which I bought on Amazon. The best $3.99 I ever spent. If you check out any of the multitude of other vids of Courtney be forewarned you may become addicted.

It's always fun and exciting to watch someone new react to Courtney. She so new and different from today's artist. She would be a hit even back in the old days. A brief history of Courtney. Courtney's been doing local open mic contests since 9. Mostly ballads at that time. At 11 or 12 she found old classics on youtube like James Brown and more and fell in love with that era. Since she has reshaped her style. She did The Voice Kids 2017 kzbin.info/www/bejne/paWXdoRvmN9ritU, AGT 2018 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2jPmmaBpZ6CeKs , Was invited to Woodstock 2019 (which got canceled), Made a guest appearance with The Struts kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqKZiYFon7hkqac and Stevie Van Zandt from Bruce Springsteen's band. Her career just officially started once they release these 4 covers on Itunes and Amazon for purchase. But once her Album gets release I assume they will begin to market her. She's sign by Sony/Arista and is manage (Larry Rudolph) by Miley Cyrus's manager who also once manage Britney Spears and has quite a few stars as clients. Arista records President has been quoted as saying they recognize her talents and have big plans for Courtney. There's so many great videos of her to react to besides the 4 on her Vevo channel. She's just getting started. If you do want to react to her older videos I linked, you should know before you do these links show all her performances of each contest from Voice kids and AGT. You may want to ask for links to individual songs of these videos. I guess you'll want to do the rest of her Vevo channels 1st.

I just want to point one thing out so another point of view can be heard. At the risk of being anal, I just feel it needs to be said. Courtney has been said to be great but a few people mention that she gets pitchy or sharp on some notes. And that may be true at times more so early on in her career. But there's a technique, in blues mostly. Where a musician will purposely stretch/bend a note at times, but not to the next note of pitch. Just a small amount (a few cents in pitch) to get a bit of dissonance or bluesy sound. i mention this in another comment too. It's been done for ages. And I'm pretty sure Courtney purposely dose this. At times she doesn't get enough credit for how technically sound she is because of her style and genre. But to me she knows exactly what she's doing. When she sings those soft ballad runs she's spot on. There's no waver in her pitch. And being her growles are so natural when she goes after it, I'm guessing she's intentionally producing that effect I mention in blues. Sometimes I wish she would come out and give some details. But that would be insane in social media. lol

What you call screaming most of us consider the best rock we've seen and heard in one, or several, generations. This is what music was meant to be. Passionate and full of emotion rather than auto tune and electronic enhancement. BTW, she's been with the same vocal coach now for right around 4 1/2 years, so same coach for the 'screaming' on AGT as well as for several years before that as well as for all four of her most recent covers. She's already a star, given her global following, but this is just the beginning,

@@edwarddevogelear4432 You misunderstand me. I love hard rock and rock and roll in general (hate pop). I'm a big fan of a lot of singers you might think of screaming. Sherry Taylor No problem Sherry. Music is a subjective taste and we’ll each like and hear different things. If we all liked the same thing, we’d only have one type of music, which would be pretty boring. 👍

Like Ed says, music is always subjective. I'm linking a video of Courtney way before AGT when she was 10 or 11 when she only did ballads. It's probably when she 1st started listening to older classics and she picked this song to do at one of her local open mic contests. It's from Aerosmith "I don't want to miss a thing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnW6dWuwidOEl9E But even before this she really just sang what most singers cover today. Then it happened and she 1st found Little Richard and James Brown and Mick Jagger and on and on. Today because she is learning guitar she has gone back to a lot of ballads because they are easiest for her to play guitar and sing together. She's only been playing guitar for about 6 months or so. This is her latest cover of a Tina Turner song "What's love got to do with it" If you haven't already watched it you won't want to miss it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYG8lodrrdJ6mMk
