Dumpert is specifically focussed on the crazy stuff. It doesn't mean that it's always like that at school. 😁 It's true though that the relationship between the teachers and students is a lot less formal than in most (all?) other countries. I personally think that the familiarity has gone too far.

I think most of the motorbike ones were “examen stunts”. We have a tradition that the class that is going to graduate gets appointed 1 day on the end of the school year to cause havoc. The idea behind is that it’s kinda of a memorable event as a parting gift after being there for 4-6 years (depending on your level) Theoretically students are free to do want they want, as long as they are abiding by school and general safety regulations. Practically at least one school makes the news every year because it got so out of hand the police had to intervene. So yea, those motorbikes aren’t even too bad.

our metal making class was working on a minibike that was sold on marketplace for super cheap. it took a lot of work and at the end of the year we rode it all over. even inside the school hall a bit :D quite memorable indeed.

When at HBO (kind of a uni) we send a teacher at 10PM a message on teams that we where celebrating the birthday of a student in a park of the city he lived in. He pulled up 20 minutes later with a backpack filled with beer cans for everyone.

For a bit of context of Dutch school system: In secondary school there are basically three levels: vmbo, havo and vwo. They go from practical 4 year to theoretical 6 year. With a vmbo you go to trade school (mbo), with havo to college (hbo), with vwo to university (wo). There’s a distinct culture in all three levels and I feel like a lot of these videos are from vmbo or mbo. They’re more chaotic, have a reputation of being bad students, but their creativity when they’re bored knows no bounds.

I´m dutch. It's not everyday all day like this but with some teachers you definitly do lots of pranks or act like that in class. I'm out of high school for a long time (I'm 34 now), but even then it was like this kind of things. We pulled a prank ones that every time the teacher turned his back to the class to write something on the bord, one of us went out the window into the schoolyard and we did that until the class had only a about 3 people still in it and he was so confused and mad, but it was fun for us. Also smoking in class with a teacher who was blind in one eye, so we knew that when we were sitting on that site of the classroom we could do whatever we wanted without him seeing it. and he could smell it, but if none tells on you then he couldn't punish anyone. and throwing backbacks, running around in the classerooms screaming things to eachother at the other end of the room. it all happend a lot, but it depended on the teacher and lesson and in which class you were. I was in a class where every student was like that, so teachers just couldn't handle us all. We even had no teacher for dutch lessons for about a half year, because there was no teacher who wanted us as a class. We were calles the disaster class. But there were also classes who had more obidient stundents and they were a lot calmer. Some teachers could see the fun in pranks and others didn't, but in my class we did it anyway with every teacher. And that teacher would get a hard time from students to in the netherlands for his looks and definetly if someone saw him pick and eat something out of the trash 🤢

I was in a class once and put copper wire inside both sides of a socket, well you can guess what happened. Anyway the next day the teacher asked me if I did that, and i said "yes" and she just laughed and told me not to do it again. Insanely strict rules as you can see.

I had a teacher for whom we could buy a bag of gummies and he would only ask the questions for that class to one person. Same dude would bring you tea and a biscuit if you were retaking a test (with just a few other people in the classroom). I miss that guy, he was one of my favorite teachers. He also was the kind of person to get us all ice cream on a hot day, he would actually give two classmates like 10 euros to buy something from the local store. Although, I do have to say that things normally didn't get this rough in my high schools, I went to two (one for VMBO-TL and one for HAVO right after). However, I did go to 'Christian Schools' so maybe that has something to do with it.

I have seen teachers have a mental breakdown back in my day, its not pretty (like the fire extinguisher guy here). Those teachers dont last 😢. Goofing arround can be fun, but at some point there needs to be mutual respect or a boundary.

We did crazy stuff in school (for me that is already like 20-25 years ago). The craziest thing i've seen is an explosion in the toilet with heavy fireworks. The result was a smashed toilet and the room was flooded with water. Ofc the students who did this had to pay for a new toilet as punishment.

As an old Dutch man (60), I would say that nowadays it's a bit over the top. And there should be more boundaries. But then again, I believe there are more parents that don't have the abilities to set boundaries for their offspring

I think it also depends on the atmosphere of the school. Like any country we gave schools that range from OK to awful, and it doesn't have to be VMBO, HAVO, VWO specifically, but we know where the kids with problems end up. (Honestly they just try to *survive* the years of school) It's insane how my school was okay, while my sister went to the school on the other side of the road, and they'd have problems with partying, dangerous behaviour and drugs. It's always a select group of kids and never the whole school, but it still gave the school a certain reputation. She's three years younger than me and told me how she can tell the next generation under her (gen alpha) acted very differently in general.

My high school functioned (it's separated by level, and I was in nerd level), but my primary school was unhinged. We didn't have enough classrooms, because the county had expected the amount of children to go down instead of up. So, we didn't fit in our classroom and had to use plural small rooms while having only 1 teacher. My sister had school in a closet with 3 students per desk. My class also had a digital board to lead class that would blow up every day, because we had chalk boards as well and the chalk would get in it. And all of our lessons were filled with children fighting each other until sb ran home. And when teacher couldn't work due to cancer, we just got a different teacher every day for basically the rest of the year, even though basically my entire class was autistic, so that was as successful as you're imagining rn. (Also, when our school director found out he had a predator working for him, he didn't do anything about it.) Btw, our school are also allowed to choose their own identity, so mine was Christian (as my father was a pastor). That was so weird too. We'd celebrate Palm Sunday (for which I already refuse to believe it exists) by sticking a bread chicken on a cross and then marching through the village with the entire school, and then you wouldn't get to eat the chicken. And while doing this cult-walk we'd sing some cringy Palm Sunday song.

Just to be clear, what I’m about to describe was certainly not considered normal, but in the school I went to (I studied Social Work - literal translation: Cultural Youth Work) it was perfectly normal to smoke in the classroom (even cannabis), drinking a can of beer was perfectly acceptable too (at least for a couple of years) and we would sit on the tables when we had a discussion. The students mainly consisted of punks, neo hippies (like me) and uncategorised eccentrics. I had so much fun being there. But it wasn’t as easy as it may seem. If there was anything you learned it was about yourself and your place in a group, or even in society. Not everyone liked what they discovered. I didn’t care about school, all I wanted was to have fun, play as much guitar as I could and make sure I got the degrees I needed so I could try and be accepted at the conservatory of music, which is exactly what I did. Man, I miss these days. This was between 1984 and 1988. If I could only relive those times. It sucks getting old. 😢

Most of what you see here is probably VMBO and MAVO. They are lower high school and so more relaxed. High schools of HAVO and VWO are much more rigid in what is allowed on school grounds. Also some translations: VMBO = Preparatory Middle Work Education (Voorbereident Middelbaar Beroeps Onderwijs) MAVO = Middle General Advanced Education (Middelbaar Algemeen Voordgezet Onderwijs) HAVO = Higher General Advanced Education (Hoger Algemeen Voordgezet Onderwijs) VWO = Advanced Scientific Education (Voodgezet Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs)

I think the level of insanity varies per school, I never saw people ride bikes inside. There was some really funny things though, it wasn't uncommon for apples to fly through the school during break time. The way those apples burst against the wall and scattered all over the people sitting below actually made me enjoy going some days.

Ah yes i was in this kind of school bottem of the ladder it was the worst of the worst we had knife crime, drug dealers, some students already had kids, and of course we had the banter we once filled the intire school with hay and flour and made dumpster fires or when we coverd the school with animal shit because we had some farmer kids at our school it was insane but also an epic time

They are not motorbike's they are mopeds. Legally they are allowed to get a license for them when kids turn 16. Mopeds are not allowed to exceed 50cc although a lot of them get tuned up though.

Ones me and my m8 putted ones a broomstick in the sleeve's of the arms from one side to the other and had linen bags and knotted him to it and hung him in a tiny backroom.
