Oh one more thing, if you haven’t seen the group grow up yet, look for their “The Voice or Sing off” season where they won - that’s where they got their big start! Mitch really shined on “The Dog Day’s”, they kind of snuck him into a lead voice for the first time there!

and when you consider the fact that The Trio [Scott, Mitch and Kirstie] just met Avi and Kevin the DAY BEFORE THEIR audition for Sing-Off then had a few MONTHS to become what we saw on that show...they mostly did all their own arrangements for that show, The Trio being the driving force with Scott the leader of the pack. they are simply astonishing

I'm glad you've discovered their evolutions. I cannot even begin to imagine what a nightmare it must be to try to make transitions between songs that are originally written in different keys and different time signatures and mash them all into a cohesive, ear-pleasing compilation like this. And then have 5 singers who can perform it seamlessly. They do it well, don't they? When you're done with the regular evolution recommendations that everyone else has probably already made below, check out their 11th performance from the SingOff competition where they do their very first mashup (In fact, check out their whole SingOff journey if you haven't already. They met a day in person for the first time the day before auditions and you watch them discover their sound on that show. There are 12 main performances and you can find them all here on KZbin. Watch them with the introductions and the ending judges comments. It helps you see the influence that singers like Boyz2Men's Shawn Stockman had on them.). I digress. In week 11, the assignment to the groups still in the competition was that they had to mashup 2 songs. It was a riot watching Pentatonix agonize over the arrangement and yet they did it better than anyone else. It was an incredible performance (maybe not as good as "Born to be Wild" or "Dog Days Are Over" but still...) that was mindblowing and worth checking out.

I agree with your comment regarding Kirsten's contribution to the group and how important she is. Lately I think she has been taking a more prominent roll. I especially like the PTX "S rendition of "Seasons of Love" from their performance on "A Capital Fourth" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4CTYod_i71mia8). They filmed it in Los Angeles before the live broadcast but it was taped "Live" and streamed nationally during the broadcast. Kristen really soars on this performance which I think is better than their recorded version off their latest, 2020, Christmas album. Love your reactions and can't wait for more PTX.

I agree with your assessment of Kirstin. I am glad she is getting more leads I’ve read that obviously they practice like crazy but once they film, they do it in one take. Amazing There is a video on KZbin where they were given the name of a song and they had to sing a line of it. The contest was how many they could recognize in like 10 minute. They got a lot. Their music knowledge is CRAZY. As always, loved the reaction. Sorry the live didn’t work but maybe next time

There's actually a fan-made compilation of videos where PTX were either talking about how they compose or actually composing. It's a great watch and some people have even done good reactions to it if you want to go that route. Scott seems to be the driving force on piecing together medleys, though. Mitch in those early days was only starting to explore both his upper range and his sense of style. It's hilarious to me to see him being the most "normally" dressed of the group pretty much through 2014ish. And he and Scott referred to 2011 Mitch as "Masc Mitch" ("Girl, if you could see yourself now") in their Superfruit video reacting to their Sing-Off performances ("Why do I sound so froggy?!"). ALL the Evolution Of medleys are great. I think you have Beyoncé, N'Sync, Ariana Grande and Rihanna left. The first two were also very early and the latter two were with Matt. Scott and Mitch also have some amazing duo medleys on their Superfruit channel if you're interested. A couple Evolutions, a couple album medleys and a medley of songs from the first season of Empire that FOX paid them to do as advertisement for the second season (as Superfruit they were considered social media influencers). The Beyoncé album, Rihanna Anti album and Empire medleys are gorgeous.

Great reaction! This was one of their very first Evolution videos, back when they didn't have all the production, just a few mics, one take, and everyone gets a part. If you notice, some bits of this were later made into full videos, like Bohemian Rhapsody, and the Evolution of Michael Jackson and Beyonce videos. In interviews, they said that after they picked a song, they started with the bass and beat, added the lead and lastly, the harmonies. In a medley, I believe they all selected the songs, with Scott and Ben Bram often arranging the order and transitions. If you haven't already, please check out Love Again and Radioactive.
