@3:18 Yes! That’s what I live for. 😂 The stages of Geoff reactions. The face palms. The brain putty. I usually dissolve into giggle fits myself. So glad it melted your face as well! His solo work just gets better and better and better. ❤️

You mentioned Geoff's vocal agility, which isn't as common in basses, and it immediately brought to mind VoicePlay's cover of Tennessee Whiskey. There is some serious flexing that happens in that song, in terms of runs and vocal agility. Well worth a look, if you're inclined. And you should definitely do a reaction to Geoff's bass singing tutorials! Not only are they very informative, he's got a great sense of humor which makes the whole thing a lot of fun. I think he has about 3 videos on the topic in total.

Bass singers do tend to have a broader than average range. However, the ability to flow between the ranges so fluidly is much more difficult. I am a bass with a 4 octave range, can sing every part to this arrangement; I just don't have Geoff's vocal control to do the multi-octave runs he's famous for.

I could listen to Geoff's musical gymnastics all day. This man's range is almost inhuman. I know it was a lot of practice and work but still.

I love the “four Geoff’s” harmonies. The low notes are getting easier I think. Thanks for your reaction

His agility with the low notes have gotten better over the past year, without a doubt. He has been amazing for a long time... he just improves every month, it seems.

This song very quickly became #1 on my playlist of favorite songs. Like Sixteen Tons, this uses the props as percussion and I think that is really creative. But Geoff is just a treat for the ears. I really gravitate towards basses in general but he is amazing!

It's not bad, but there's other versions of this song that I prefer over this one. But Geoffs version of Sixteen Tons is my absolute favorite version of Sixteen Tons, I'm not aware of any other versions of sixteen tons that even comes close to match it.

There are a lot of great bass singers out there, but Geoff has taken it to a new level the last several months. The vocal agility in all registers is unheard of. Yep, he's an alien 👽 🤣.

I love watching your reactions to Geoff! This is such a cool rendition of the song. And yes, his bass Q&A videos are extremely interesting - well worth checking out. Honestly, just listening to his speaking voice can be a bit of a trip. As for other music videos of his to react to, my suggestions are "High and Dry", "Blackbird" and "Headless Horseman".

Re-dunk-u-lous. Geoff’s definitely a freak of nature. 1964- The Animals had an iconic hit with this song. You would enjoy hearing that one too. 🔥

The original from The Animals was ok, but it can't come near to being as good as this one by Geoff, which is waaaaayyy superior with the harmonies, the rhythms, and the overall interesting musical wonders he weaves.

Righteous reaction action there MG. Ain't it great to live in this age with so many beastly low note landers among us? Yes, yes it is.

Your reaction feels just about like what I must have looked like. Just becoming a puddle on the floor. He's so good in this one and I love it. Those drops are lovely, and I love his flex into the higher parts too, it's one of my favorite parts. You should check out his little 'how to's' for sure, they are entertaining and informational, super fun in their own right. Great reaction as always!

I know not everyone appreciates what Geoff did with this piece, but I love his version just as much as The Animals 1960's version. They're each really unique and outstanding in their own ways. Geoff's bass singer tutorials are right on his channel. They're worth a watch - even for non-bass singers. I'm a contralto, and some of what he's gone over in those tuts has actually helped me as well. Definitely worth a listen.

_House of the Rising Sun_ is indeed a folk melody as you said. It dates back to at least the early 1920s, but some folks say it traces back to a song in Victorian England. It has been sung from both the male and female perspective. Geoff does great, but since I am an old fogey, my favorite version is by The Animals in the mid-1960s. You might want to react to that at some point.

I’m not going to complain if you do more Voiceplay and more of Geoff’s solo stuff. I can listen to these guys all day. Geoff just dropped a version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen that is fabulous. Also, if you like bass, you might check out The Bass Gang. It’s a newer group and doesn’t have the resources these guys have, but they’ve got several songs out now and they’re all great. Also, Tomi P (a member of the aforementioned Bass Gang) just dropped a cover of Sweet Dreams that is WILD.

Its origin is vague, but versions existed in the UK and Ireland back as far as the 1700's. The version we know today was collected by Woody Guthrie in Appalachia back in the 1930's or so. The House of the Rising Sun has been a bar, whorehouse, or gambling den (or all three). The lyrics vary a bit even now and Geoff like most singers made a few changes. The Animals is the version from the early 1960's most know. As an aside, it has been sung by women who often are runaways or abused 'working women' that commit some crime. Like all folk songs, the variations are endless. Geoff has said in interviews that he's working on his lowest range. At age 40 he's reaching the peak of most bass singers in depth, but unlike tenors, he will hold that peak far longer as he ages. Or as they say in opera, tenors and sopranos retire. Basses can die on stage.

Geoff is a amazing singer with great bass voice, but his version of this song isn't the best cover of it. His version of sixteen tons is the best one out there I believe.
