As always, love the reaction. This song reminds me of my Grandfather who played this song a lot. He fought in WW2 and listened to a lot of stuff like this as well as old school country. Have a nice weekend, Enoma!

A classic big band tune, still played at wedding receptions even today (of course i can only speak of in the U.S.), the photo you have with this song is of actor Jimmy Stewart who portrayed Glenn Miller in the "Glenn Miller Story" of his short life.

Actually, he is the conductor of The Glen Miller Orchestra. He was killed on a military mission during WW2.

Glenn Miller was a band leader and composer. He primarily played the trombone. This is the music of my parent’s generation. It was played a lot around my home, when I was small.

Glen. Miller was my late mother’s favorite big band leader. I was told by my uncle that mother was depressed for weeks when she heard of Millers death.

In The Mood was an orchestral tune dating to 1939. In 1939, Glen Miller, a very popular American Bandleader and arranger, recorded his version which became a big hit leading up to World War 2. The band consisted of dozens of talented musicians, hence the term "The Big band Era". Miller volunteered to entertain the troops in 1942, and joined the Army Air Force. In 1944 a plane carrying Miller disappeared over the English Channel on its way to France.

It's the Glen Miller Orchestra. That's what my mom's records say. Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey were members and then went off on their own to great success in the era that was known as the Hit Parade.

In fact, Glen Miller was a bandleader best known for playing the trombone. I'm not sure he played a note on In the Mood, which is mainly woodwind-led. Whenever I've seen film of it being played, Miller is up front conducting.
