1) Madison is shown as sick which notably he was while in office. 2) Jefferson tells Sally “ be a lamb and open this”. Sally refers to his slave with whom he is said to have had a child with. 3) isnt Daveed just a joy to watch on stage. Definitely keeps audience attention

And I'm pretty sure that the stage dancer that showed the letter to him is Daveed's wife...if that was intentional that's also a nice little touch.

@@st4rpt_603 actually - in this case - "Sally" is played by Ariana De Bose - "the bullet" the woman you are referring to had left the cast a few months before the taping of the shows.

There's no "said to", he definitely had children with Sally Hemings. They've proved it genetically.

Yeah, Jefferson wasn't 'said to' have had a child with Sally Hemings. He definitely did. And 'had a child with' is a polite way of saying what he did. It's important when talking about the real historical people (as opposed to these more fantastical characters of the play) to not delude ourselves about what they were like.

😊 Daveed Diggs is pretty much the personification of charisma, so I understand how he grabs your attention when he is on stage. I really think that the casting for Hamilton is so good.

Notice that when Washington and Ham introduced themselves to Jefferson, Washington was singing in the melody of this son, while Hamilton used his own melody. Another subtle showing that Ham marches to his own beat.

Yes. Four actors played one role in Act 1 and a different role in Act 2. Lafayette / Jefferson Hercules Mulligan / James Madison John Laurens / Phillip Hamilton Peggy Schuyler/ Maria Reynolds.

yes, Dayveed Diggs was just so good in this, as both Lafayette and Jefferson. He seems on a different level as in, ALL the actors are Crushing their rolls, have amazing voices and are all unbelievably talented, but Diggs is in another level as if.. as if it's effortless for him, as if he's not working as hard as the others, just having the time of his life, but still crushing HARD. Just so much personality.

Take A Break, Say No To This* 3. The Room Where It Happens, Schuyler Defeated, Cabinet Battle #2 4. Washington On Your Side, One Last Time 5. I Know Him, The Adam's Administration, We Know 6. Hurricane, The Reynold's Pamphlet, Burn* 7. Blow Us All Away, Stay Alive Reprise, It's Quiet Uptown* 8. Election of 1800, Your Obedient Servant, Best of Wives and Women 9. The World Was Wide Enough, and Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story* * means it is important to do those songs together, whereas other sets are more adjustable

6:00 the ‘government control’ thing was because a lot of the states (especially the more wealthy ones) wanted to continue operating as a confederation of independent states rather than a single nation. They’d tried that for a while and it didn’t work because with all the states pulling in different directions and making arbitrary decisions nothing got done. A lot of the founding fathers (especially Adams and Jefferson) also didn’t trust banks- they envisioned the US as a nation of independent small landowners so Hamilton wanting to set up a national bank and share debt between states raised their hackles. The question of states rights vs. federal control wasn’t really decisively settled until after the civil war.

I like the subtle things they throw in with Thomas. Like him shaking one of the extras hands(I think he was black which adds even more to this) and then immediately wipes his hand off on his shirt in disgust. He did great things for our country, but his stance on slavery never helped anyone.

I watched an interview with LMM where he said he made Jefferson's song in a more jazzy style to musically make him sound more out of touch since he had been gone from the U.S. for several years and was out of touch with the current political situation.
