This song is a protest against Berlins wall (song recorded in 1988, a year before the fall of the wall). Its metaphoric lyrics were to avoid censorship. The lyrics are about splitting your house, your body, your street into half. How left side of the street is dark / shut down and right one is shining with colourful neons. How left one never wakes up and right one never goes to sleep. And so on. That's why this song is important for polish people and that's why there is so much emotion behind it. Cuz it's fight for a freedom.

I only heard this song for the first time this year when I heard my favourite singer Michał Szpak sing it I'm not polish, I had to the check out the kult version, I looked up the English translation, to be honest I still was confused what it was about but hearing your translation made it more sense to me, so thank you. who ever I hear singing it they always have such a powerful voice, powerful impact.

You need to know the context of that song. Written in 1987, sang by Kult, The song had to somehow avoid censorship. The song is about the divided society by the Wall- not only by the Berlin Wall- but also by the iron curtain. That song was literally the experience of the most of the nations closed behind the iron curtain. That is why this song is so emotional for Kasia Nosowska. (Well- not only her, but each of us watching it on KZbin I guess) Also it is strongly related to recent situation in Poland where the society is divided by two, happily after the recent election it all will change. I've been there five times. The atmosphere is truly like magic. The song refers to Berlin wall when Germany or even Europe was divided into two pieces. It means that we shouldn't build walls between each other but live peacefully together. Censorship was very severe a that time so the song is one big metaphor.

As far as I remember this song was written when Poland was under ussr rule. The author has been to Berlin and he saw two different sides of the iron curtain. The lyrics of the song refer to house split into two parts. One of them is full of life and the other one is just quiet and sleeping. Just like Berlin during the times of iron curtain. And you can refer this to what we are now. Divided into western and eastern Poland by voting to different parties 😅 but that's my interpretation. 😅

I recommend checking out other songs by Hey and Kasia Nosowska. "Arahja" is not their song. It was originally performed by Kazik Staszewski, an equally important figure in Polish music of the last few decades. The song itself is about division. About the division into the Eastern and Western bloc during the "Cold War", divisions in society, in families, even within ourselves. I recommend checking out Kazik's work, as well as the band Hey and Kasia Nosowska, whose work comes from a more grunge trend and as an example of their work I would recommend some of these songs: "Moja i Twoja Nadzieja", "Teksański", "Dreams", "Mimo wszystko", "List", "Cisza, ja i czas", and "Zazdrość".

At the time, many people in our country felt like politicians are trying to divide us, because if you make people argue with each other, they are too busy to keep politicians accountable. “Arahja” is a piece about the Berlin Wall, the symbol of the division of Germany. Thanks to the lack of literalness and high metaphorical nature, Kazik managed to avoid censorship, which in 1988 was finally in its last throes. The home the author sings about here is none other than Germany, or even Europe, divided by the Cold War and in conflict with itself. The singer wants to show us the senselessness of wars and conflicts, reminding us that we are all people and we should tear down walls between ourselves rather than build them. This was best seen in the example of Germany - former friends and even families now stood on both sides of the barricade, feeling still connected to each other, but still distant because of these arbitrary borders. Staszewski clearly suggests that it is much better to look for a common language than to stand against each other. After all, the whole world is our big home, so why do we keep cutting ourselves off from others, trying to carve out separate places for ourselves, closing ourselves off to otherness?

It's been called The most beautiful festival in the world, and it stands to it's name. Amazing atmosphere, great people. Each year a band is chosen by the people to perform on the ASP which stands for Akademia Sztuk Przepięknych (Academy of Finer Arts, it's a play on Akademia Sztuk Pięknych - Academy of Fine Arts) which basically is a supporting scene on that festival. There are lectures, yoga classes and many other activities for people. It's great! It's one of the very last big events in Rock/Metal/Alternative music, nowadays everything's about rap & hiphop, but Pol'n'Rock stays strong!

I was at this concert, I screamed all the lyrics and cried like a beaver. this is a song about the fall of communism in our region. The unique story about that concert is just before this song, gates to concert area was closed and ppl pushing on fence and when Kasia started, we opened that gates by force and all that crowd aload a place. I was there in the first lin at gates.

That was my first time I went to Przystanek Woodsock. I love it so much! I enjoyed hearing it and them being on gig with Kult who originaly performed it I think two years later, which I think was biggest Woodstock gig ever made. I was at this concert, and I still get goosebumps all over my body when I see and hear videos of this event. First of all, I was surprised that the band Hey played the song "Arahja" by Kult. Secondly, the song is full of emotions. It was written with the division of Europe by the Berlin Wall in mind, but it is still relevant and can be perceived differently. A person may be divided in his apartment and have to repay the loan to the bank for many years. You can be divided by internal worries... A song can reach the heart.

The lyrics in translation sound simple, they're about everything (around you and in you) being divided into halves that oppose each other. But the meaning has so many layers, and that's why this song is so moving and still relevant. It can be about the Berlin wall, but it can also be about political divisions, that we observe in most countries now, that run deep and seemingly there are no ways of finding common ground. It might be about inner conflicts that most people experience at some point in their lives. And all that is seasoned with some very eastern European soul-ache that's painful and beautiful at the same time. There's just a lot to this song.

The Sabaton performing to a massive Woodstock crowd in 2012 was awesome. The crowd went wild when the Swedish Sabaton played Uprising (a song about the 1944 Warsaw Uprising) and 40:1 (a song about the Battle of Wisna during the 1939 Polish Campaign). I have the DVD but these can be found on KZbin as well.

I was lucky to be at this festival (while still called Przystanek Woodstock) as a photojournalist. And man - when I first found myself on stage - taking photos of the crowd in front of me (around 300,000 people at the time) it was so incredibly hypnotizing and paralyzing - that I didn't take any photos. Only subsequent entrances to the stage were photographically "successful". And I heard the same thing from the musicians performing there - that it was an incredibly powerful event for them and the best part of their career

You should react to Majka Jezowska "a ja wole moja mame" on this same festival. She is a songwriter and vocalist for kids, and when she performed that song live after 20 years. Crowd gone creazy.. unbelivable

This song elicited such emotions because its lyrics are still relevant to the current political situation in Poland, where the government has divided and polarized society into pro-government and opposition factions (as indicated by the divided map of Poland - there is clear support for the government in the eastern part and for the opposition in the western part). This atmosphere of polarization and, consequently, tension is so pronounced that it's sometimes difficult for neighbors or even family members with different political views to get along. However, after the elections on October 15th, the opposition won, and I hope that the new government will try to bridge these divisions to prevent a Polish-Polish conflict.

recorg people in 1 band in Pol'and rock (before woodstock) have 1,5 mln ( 1 500 000 people) name band "Kazik" / "kult". I have been to this festival 16 times, 3 times as a photographer. This song has great political application, and the division of Poles by the government
