“What note was that?!” It was a C#1 sub. And Geoff hit the majority of the F#1’s (first low note) in chest voice. 😮 Also, you’re one of the first reactors that has noticed the masks and correctly connected them to Nightmare Before Christmas, specifically their Kidnap the Sandy Claws video.

'In The Hall of The Mountain king' is actually a musical piece from the 1867 five-act play 'Peer Gynt,' by Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen. Both it and another famous instrumental piece from the same play 'Morning' (which you will also instantly recognise as soon as you hear it) were composed by Edvard Grieg. But yeah, Voiceplay and Elizabeth KILLED this!

Love watching you enjoy their shenanigans. Only VoicePlay would think about taking a classical piece like this, turning it inside out and upside down and adding all the insanity. Cesar is so mischievous - you just know he is up to no good. It’s so funny how they all want to prank Layne. At the end, just before he deploys his carrot bomb, his movements are so crazed. Eli is a bit terrifying in this. And Elizabeth! What a terrific counterpoint to Geoff’s crazy low bum bum bums!

The Norwegian composer Grieg wrote the original orchestral music for part of his Peer Gynt Suite - definitely genius. This is a great mix of fun plus excellent vocals and musicality. Enjoyed the reaction.

Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play Peer Gynt. This is where this music from. I had to geek out and look this up. Geoff hit another B0 according to QoFyReacts. This is Layne's arrangement so he worked in the magic carrot at the end. This is at PattyCake Productions and Tony made Layne cut down real trees and drag them into the studio. Love that they used the masks from Kidnap The Sandy Claws.

Great reaction as usual. This is their best. My favorite. I listen to it alot. Especially when I'm laying down resting. Loop on. Headphones on high. And yes. She's closed. It is a whole different experience. You should listen to the 2 in the credits talking about merchandise. They are hilarious too. Liz is a very sweet lady. I've talked to her in both Facebook and the premiere. She said she's the "Underworld Goddess" 😄 . She even hashtaged herself as that on here lol Voiceplay has used her in a couple past videos as voiceover when they have super high notes. So we've heard her but not seen her until now. Ok. It's only mid september; their halloween stuff is their most popular. I'm hoping/semi-expecting that we'll see another one from VP, probably arranged by Geoff since this one was Layne's, AND one from Geoff's personal channel. Fingers crossed. (Not counting the minis, VP released 4 full performances last year between 9/17 & 10/15, so 2 this year isn't too much to hope for.)

Great reaction as always, Dave!! Geoff definitely had a wonderful bass line in this, but you and I definitely have “bass ears.” Some pretty amazing vocals were coming out of everybody else in this as well. Eli sounds almost operatic in spots, and I think that’s Cesar’s Sméagol/Gollum voice around the credits. And then we get so much from Layne as well, LOTS of vocals, as well as incredible vocal percussion. Then stack in Liz-some of those notes sound very Queen of the Night to me, and in character voice! I’m glad they’re still going all out for videos-I was a little worried they might be pulling back a bit because they’re back to doing live gigs.

The melody is repetitive and builds throughout the piece and they played with the tempo, and style of each segment to make this one a real treat for the ears, although apparently, they were all playing tricks on poor Layne during the video! Happy (upcoming) October Birthday, from another October celebrant!! Libra or Scorpio? Either way, we have the bestest month of the year to be born in!! As always, you gave a well thought out review of their efforts, and I appreciate the thought you put into all your reactions, which are becoming more analyses of late. Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Take notice how the original symphony orchestra music & Voice Play mimicks the music as it goes from fast to slow. It is an original repetitive piece of music & Voice Play made it fun. Take notice that they all have horns in this one. Nobody does Halloween scarry better than Voice Play. They are total geniuses. The English translation of the name is not literal. Dovre is a mountainous region in Norway, and "gubbe" translates into (old) man or husband.

Yeah, In the Hall of the Mountain King is one of those pieces that absolutely everyone has heard and will recognize as familiar, even though most of them don't know the title. It's the "nope, never heard of it [first six notes] Oh THAT song, why didn't you say so" effect. Others include Morning Mood, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Rondo Alla Turca, Blue Danube, Claire de Lune, Barber of Seville, Short Round's Theme, Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra, Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld, Habanera from Carmen, Copland's version of Simple Gifts, Piano Sonata No. 2 in b flat minor op. 35 movement 3, Mozart's Symphony No. 40, the choral theme with the title lyrics from the end of Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 12 and Sonata Op. 28 No. 15, the seventh movement from Bach's orchestral suite No. 2 in b minor (wow, I wonder why nobody remembers the names of these), the prelude to the Partita No. 3 in E, Hungarian Dance No. 5 in f sharp minor, Schickele's Unbegun Symphony (particularly the fourth movement), and that one piece by Strauss. Honorable mention to Londonderry Air, which everybody knows under the various titles that belong to various sets of lyrics that have been sung to it.
