These songs directly targeted my age group back in the mid to late 1960s. I had all these 45 singles back then. The “Golden Age” for pop culture, never again duplicated or rivaled. Great review! Thanks.

Totally agree with that on pop culture. I was a bit after and jealous! Thanks Henry!

Two classic 60’s tunes. I like Green Tambourine a little better. Love the Psychedelic effect with the drum beat on that one.

I've always thought of these two songs together and they bring back the same memories having been popular at the exact same time in Jan/Feb '68. The New York City music AM radio station had them as the #2 and #3 songs on their top ten survey of Jan 30, '68. For many pop and rock songs lyrics are just part of the feel of the song. The feel of the song is what your memories attach to, and it becomes like a little time machine. While these two evoke the same feeling for me, if I had to pick one it would be Judy in Disguise because it was more of a fun sound. I was in Junior High at the time.

I’m legit surprised that “Judy In Disguise” isn’t the runaway winner here. How about “It’s Alright” by JJ Jackson vs “Get On Up” by the Esquires?

Definitely Judy in Disguise! I really dug bubblegum music in the late 60s. Especially the 1910 Fruitgum Co and the Ohio Express..

I had both these songs on 45's Wow haven't heard these songs since the 60's so much fun! It just so happens I'm restoring an electric sitar now for my collection now. Guys how about these 2 60's one hit wonders the Human Beinz, Nobody but Me, and the 1910 Fruit gum company 1,2,3 Red Light.

Glad you enjoyed these 1960's one hit wonders. I remember both of these when they were first on the airwaves and liked them both. Looking back I'd have to give the edge to Green Tambourine (as being a little less weird). By the way John Fred passed in 2005, RIP.

@@ReactionsToTheClassics Bill Bartlett, guitarist with the Lemon Pipers, later changed genres and had a hit song with "Black Betty" (as Ram Jam). In the 90's, he became a boogie-woogie piano player.

My brothers favorite song was The Pipkins - Gimme Dat Ding... Mine The Raiders - Shape Of Things To Come... The raiders hits hard with a wall of electric sound & horn section for the whole album! Way ahead of its time. I have never stopped playing The Raiders Indian Reservation Album!

The Yardbirds did “Shapes of Things” in 1966 and later in 1968, Max Frost and the Troopers did “Shape of things to Come.” I don’t remember Paul Revere & the Raiders doing anything with “Shapes” in their songs.

@@rockubtzer Ok, thanks. By the end of 1969, I had lost interest in the Raiders. Their musical style had changed too much for me. Their heyday for me was 1965 through 1968.

@@henryrogers5500 You should really listen to the Indian Reservation Lp it is very different than their other stuff. I never stopped listing to it, as well as Rod Stewart Every Picture Tells A Story album that I purchased the same day as the Raiders Lp.

Sgt pepper had the lyrics to every song included in the packaging. So there really is no excuse to miss Lucy In The Sky with Luck In Disguise. My winner is Green Tambourine.

Back in the summer of 67 radio stations were playing the album in full, so its possible he heard the song on the radio not on the album

Most likely he wrote it right away based on the release date so he very well might not have had anything but radio listens.
