Woke up to this after finding out my first love - and also ex - had passed from drugs and alcohol abuse …guess I’d fallen asleep with TV on to channel that plays her way late (or early am)….not only the song, but the delivery?! Omg, my reaction was exactly like yours! 😂 When I first heard it, I felt like I literally lost the ability to think and speak. Could it be because Céline is 20+ years older than Kelly...believe it or not Kelly is up there with her vocally...she does the riffs and the runs too just as well...she has the resonance, the control, the breath support, the agility, the technique just like Céline does. The difference is Kelly is a belle canto singer with possibly a slightly warmer tessatura. Kelly out of most modern day singers is probably who is closest to celine in that respect. Celine started in the 80s. Kelly was born in the 80s. That's it. They are from different times but Kelly can do celine because she has the technique. Céline will always be queen but Kelly is also a queen in her own right and she only had 90 seconds to give to this song so she couldn't do what she would've if she had more time I promise you that.
