For me This song is absolutely Perfect ❤ !!!! This one is against organized religions based on tribal religious texts, especially The Bible, it's not against personal faith in some Deity. However, one should realize that all those religious texts are & have been interpreted and used to justify unimaginable cruelties, persecution, discrimination etc., the worst being the idea that man is separate from nature & by some divine right above all other lifeforms, which explains the current almost catastrophic state of our planet. lyrics are spot on - so many fractures in our world have a root in the fantasy that each of the religions/sects/whatever are THE ONE way. This song speaks, with anger, against the fact that we humans are destroying ourselves and this world based on a power structure that needs to be made obsolete - we ALL deserve better. Nuff said !!!! NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

My favourite quote comes from Roland Orzibal of Tears for Fears: I used to think the time would come/That man would rise above the beast/I gave up thinking that way long ago/In conversation with a priest. You can find it on his album Raoul and the Kings of Spain, one of the great underrated albums of the 1990's.

Hi Sabina. This is my favorite Nightwish song and yes, the lyrics do cause a bit of controversy as I've heard some of the fan base isn't too happy with this one. In fact, there are some that refuse to suggest this song and will tell the host not to react to it. It's almost like they're suggesting THEY have freedom of expression, but Nightwish doesn't. 😄 Anyway, yes, my #1 among many when it comes to Nightwish, but this song has power, it has energy, starting with Kai showing his drumming skills and Marko on that monster of a bass double neck. The drums throughout were on point and extremely appropriate from beginning to end. The bass lines and the keyboard/orchestral parts were very fitting with the intensity of the song. It may sound like Troy was drowned out by everything else, but believe me, if he stopped playing, you'd know it, and they chose the perfect instrument for the job. Floor? Well, Floor is every bit as magical as she can ever be. With her acting out what she feels about the song and her beautiful voice.... what else is there to say? Absolutely perfect!! And I saved the best for last... Only because like 90% of the fanbase who's heard this song, I too gave my props to what I heard and enjoyed the most, and that is all those things I previously pointed out. But Emppu???? He has quickly become the backbone of this song (in my opinion). His part is not as big as Floor's, or Marko's, or Tuomas', or Kai's, but it certainly is the most powerful sound in that song, it is the "engine". Looking forward to more Nightwish reactions. Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘

I like the lyrics, too. I actually like 'the slap in the face' so to speak. And it's not to downput (a certain) religeon, it's a slap in the face for those within said religeons who 'use' it to spread fearm hatred and violence. It's the dark part of humanity which I loath and am ashamed and angry at for us humans to express. I don't give a rats ass what someone's religeon is, each their own. Do whhere you get strength etc out of but DON'T FORCE it on others, use violence in it name or preach it like the lyrics say as 'only truth'. That's simply not right and aweful to do to each other.

This is a controversial song given its theme. The song, yeah, it’s powerful and up there with their finest works. The dark side though: The introductory quote by Richard Dawkins is from The God Delusion - regarding his view that children should not be submitted to religious education. Dawkins' view on religion and Christianity is quite clear. Maybe an example of places where music shouldn’t go? If you are unaware of this element, or simply don’t care, just enjoy the quality of the song. Nice one Sabina.

I think art has a purpose to be thought provoking and so I think controversial subjects should not be a taboo. Personally I very much agree with the message but even if you don't its a good thing to be confronted with another opinion. If you understand the message and where it comes from it helps to understand each other, it can also strengthen your own opinion and beliefs because you can more clearly pinpoint why you don't agree with the message. Anyway it is always a good thing to be exposed to different opinions so you can make up your own mind.

I need to go look for the Livestream... sadly I missed it. Your words are a wonderful statement on the approval and gratitude for artistic expression and our ability to do it without fear. Fear is, as the song states, our choice. By choosing not to fear we may open up difficult topics, but they are often issues that need to be heard (example : Bloodywood) Not all music must have such a harsh/aggressive/subversive goal. There is, indeed, a time and place for everything, : even music that just proclaims love for clouds and pigeons and rainy days. But this song speaks to me. (after that it all becomes personal) Thank you for watching it. ... now, I'm off to invent some 'windmill-safe headphones', lol...

If by "citar" you mean the string sound starting at 5:49, that's Marko playing the guitar part of his double neck instrument. It kind of sounds like an acoustic guitar, even though it's an electric one. Troy's playing his bouzouki throughout, but you can probably hear it best for a few seconds starting at 7:57 or so.

Tuomas' interview in Paris Nov / 2015 Interviewer asks: The album EFMB has a big meaning about life, creation and even religion. Did you want to share your own thoughts about religion or was it more like an observation of people's thoughts? Tuomas answeres: Well, there's one song on the album "Weak Fantasy" which deals with these themes. And I was really careful about how to write those lyrics, we talked about them with the whole band, so that everybody agrees within the band. Because it doesn't want to be too preachy, but we want to make a statement and I think we succeeded in that. I just don't find it any kind of virtue to believe in anything without evidence. I don't understand why many people consider faith a virtue. There are certain reasons why we have a justice system in the court or in the world. You question reason, you have evidence, evidence, evidence and then you make a verdict. I mean, it's like you're accused of rape, we have absolutely no evidence but I have faith that you are guilty so you will go to jail for 10 years. It doesn't work like that, the world shouldn't work like that but with religion it's allowed and that's something that should be discussed especially these days. All religions, they're a bit immune to criticism, and open discussion, and updating. I'd rather follow a science based, evidence based facts of morality as well, one that's reasoned and discussed as well, than a 2000-years-old book.

Super crazy song really it's unreal lyriccally i had to look up stuff very intense I think it might be about women should rule because look at the track record of women almost flawless really few notable smudges but women in power almost. Yes and about the church and the way it runs but Male Necrocracy is interesting is a conjuction of workds to describe dead power. So maybe men in the church and them running it not great. I agree though just in general women in power seems to go better 90% of the time.
