Yes! Sing always makes me very happy. And my favorite is "Gold". It's a cover from Kiiara. The original is heavily edited, tuned and sampled. And Mitch just sings it like nobody's business. And it's a live recording!

This is a PTX original song. They had planned on releasing it before the pandemic hit, which explains why Matt is clean shaven and Mitch still has his mullet. Check out the 6 cover songs they released this summer - each of them recording their parts alone in their own homes - Home (medley of songs about Home); When the Party's Over (Billie Eilish); Blinding Lights (The Weeknd); Break My Heart (Dua Lipa); Dreams (The Cranberries); Cologne (Clean Bandit). They made videos for all except Cologne.

Considering Mitch still has his mullet and Matt doesn't have a beard I'm thinking this original number was recorded before lockdowns because they were in the process of recording their new album of all Originals before the crisis shut down everything. They also sang this song in concert during the World Tour so it had been written before the virus. The theme for all of the songs they wrote was everything they had been through in the past 2 years. that statement was made right before the world tour started in Spring of 2019 (by Kirstie I think) and the lyrics just happen to fit the virus crisis. They performed this song in concert for the world tour that was halted three-quarters of the way through right before they were scheduled to perform in Milan Italy. And yes, they do concerts! The first leg of their world tour was a stadium tour of the US and they even played Madison Square Garden! Oh boy were they ever excited and suffering full on nerves, afraid they'd forget their choreography and the lyrics before that concert! Kevin was telling them we've got this guy's! It's in our body memory because we've done this concert so many times already! Scott was wiping back tears during soundcheck and Matt shed tears on stage and we saw him wipe those tears. It was an amazing and surreal experience for them. Beyond a dream come true as they'd never imagined that they would ever do something like this. for us fans we weren't surprised at all that they could pull off performing at Madison Square Garden.. us Pentaholics are so proud of them and I love that they are so humble ! Thank you for reacting to this right away! It's so exciting to hear original music from them again and I love what they did and it's fun to share it!

There are other similar videos, and one in particular I really enjoy is "Pentatonix + Random Jamming/Singing on the fly". You should watch that too if you find the time :D

You are almost right. If they go to a concert they need a GOOD sound mix engineer to keep their voices in balance. And Kevin has some things called "stomp pads" that are used by beat-boxers to get a little extra out of foot stomps. But otherwise, you are right that they don't need much. You speculated in passing whether they could do a full concert. They have at least four full albums of their own music plus covers. If you look at the classic covers they have, you would realize they have HOURS of music. Yes, they could do a very long concert.

Keven always takes his cello with him on tour, and he has a large amplifier type light up box that he stands on so he can stomp his feet during the songs, and it sounds the same as it does on the videos. All five of the group sing, Kevin least, as he has so much work with the beat, Matt does the base and the deep thrumming sound effects, but sings in most of the videos, (Scott takes over the base when Matt sings). So there are potentially 4 main singers, and Kevin whenever there is no beatboxing to do. Hope this helps.

Another new original you should check out is "Break My Heart". Up beat and fun, just like this one. BTW - I love seeing how excited you get when you listen to them for the first time. When you bust out dancing in your chair, I am practically mimicking your move in front of my computer. ( Can't watch this amazing stuff on your phone people - headphones Definitely a Plus! ) xo

I'm sure it's already been recommended, but my favourite live recording is Aha! Singapore, The Star Vista. The camera focuses on Mitch so you can't see when Kevin comes on stage, but it's a great showcase of what Mitch can do (and it's my favourite Pentatonix cover). Another really good live one is the Popspring mini concert. There's three originals and the Michael Jackson medley in that one, and professional sound recording quality.

When you said 3 of them sing (I knew what you were trying to say) I knew you were in trouble with some Pentaholics! lol...yes, Hallelujah is their most popular/viewed song but honestly, react to anything and you're gonna see us here. When they do concerts, it's true that they don't need to take instruments, except Beyonce (cello) travels with Kevin. That being said, they do have to have amazing sound engineers and the right sound equipment. When they appear on tv shows, you can tell the difference in sound since tv shows don't need the technical equipment like PTX does. It's not to say they don't sound good when appearing on tv shows but there is a difference. I'm sure other people have already said that they sound exactly the same live, as they do in video. And if you do react to Hallelujah, you should also react to the live version right after and you'll see how good they are! Also, AHA! is a live performance too!
