REACTION TO SAO ABRIDGED || Part 8

Sooo as some of you might have noticed, Part 7 was removed due to a Copyright claim by Sony that stated we were using the original SAO Episode 7 English dub, we have since sent a counter claim and we are waiting for a response, we hope ep 7 can be restored soon.

I love this episode in the Abridged, because it does so much to highlight how differently they handle character reactions. First, I love Asuna and Kirito's constantly snarky relationship with each other. Their neuroses play off of each other so well. I love Kirito's slow character development, being reinforced by Sachi's memory. Also, the reinforcement of his trigger words - "your fault" - from Sachi's death. Every time that phrase comes up, Kirito acts out of character to help others. You saw it with Silica in episode 4, Lizbeth last episode, and again here. I absolutely love them changing the events surrounding the Kuradeel fight to not shit on Asuna's character. She's one of the top 3 strongest in the game, and yet she's so intimidated by her useless weaker-than-her bodyguard that she needs to be saved by Kirito? She literally swoons into his arms afterward! Here, they make it obvious that Abridged!Asuna is playing the whole thing up to manipulate Kirito into dealing with it for her, simply because she can't be fucked, and finds that option more satisfying. I think it's great! Won't spoil anything, but SWE make a similar change next episode, that I think makes it work sooooo much better. Also, I really like the fact that Abridged!Kirito, "The Crown Prince of Douchebags" Asshole Kirito, actually treats Asuna more fairly than series!Kirito when it comes to the deal he offers to Asuna for cooking the rabbit. In the series, after asking her to cook an S-class meal for him, he offers her only a _bite_ of it in exchange for her help. She works to cook this amazing meal out of one of the rarest ingredients in the game, and she gets _a bite._ _She_ has to negotiate for half of it. In SAOA, Abridged!Kirito offers Asuna half of the meal up-front.

I've seen both and I like both! But I do think SAO first arc was the best one and SAOA is just hilarious (ᗒᗨᗕ) Episode seven was flagged for copyright and is taken down atm, but we're working on it to get it back bc we didn't do anything wrong, at least imo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -Isa

I dunno if you heard or not, but at 6:30, Kirito wasn’t actually insulting Jeff Goldblum. He was saying that Kuradeel looked like a rather hideous character played by Jeff Goldblum in a movie called The Fly.

Ill start by saying i enjoy seeing your reactions to this series and i understand your frustration at asuna having a body gaurd and kirito fighting for her however i wish you had waited to mention that till the end because you missed jokes in the series that you talked over and it kinda brought down the humor of the scene esspecially since after you made that complaint the abridged series explains why asuna wouldnt fight him herself again i like seeing what you guys think of the series i just think theres better times to complain about the original series than in the middle of the episode

Sure, 'Asuna the Lightning Flash' is cool but I actually prefer what the SAO: Progressive manga calls her; 'Shooting Star'. (I can't remember if people call her that but the manga/narrator definitely compares her to a shooting star.)

MCs make stupid decisions and love interests are mostly useless or have no positive impact on the story other then causing trouble and unnecessary drama. Especially in anime and chinese LN's it really kills the story for me. Maybe I'm disillusioned about love and getting old as I'm slowly approaching my 26th b-day but really MCs...grow up, a person you barely even know is never a reason to act like a complete moron and you should not get yourself and everyone around you killed for them, especially when there are better options that would be way smarter and more likely to succeed .....but maybe it's just not for me and emotional baggage kicking in haha xD Wow I'm really feeling old now...f*ck XD

I'm a big dude and i cried like a frickin baby at the end of "Your lie in Arpil", if it's actually built up it can be good. Plot devices and fan service however......it's just annoying when you need harem member No. X just to visibly lower the MCs IQ in order to save both of them with plot armor and then kill off the cool side character you had high hopes for in the process. * eye roll * You're probably right. Experience at least prevents us from acting like idiots....sometimes at least. God teenage years....cringe. xD Btw I'm starting out at university this summer (yeah health issues and bad life choices so kinda late) but that might make me feel less old so yay still young....probably......maybe.....a little?! ^^ Btw as a fellow German, kudos for your lack of unbearable German accent.....dunno why but our accent usually makes my ears bleed. xD

Thank you so much, I really can't wait to finally get to university after such a long time. Personally, i like the original better. The abridged story is basically the same, just more funny. Still it is not something i can re-watch. Unless it is with someone, like here. On the other hand, re-watched the original few times now, and recently feel like doing it again. Did you watch the original in Japanese or dub ? I do think the first arc was the best one, and i am just hoping for progressive series anime.

I like both, but abridged is a lot funnier. And yes, I prefer the first arc, second I didn't like, and now the GGO arc is ok. I'm still not finished, but I don't really have the motivation to continue atm 😅😂 I'll keep watching some other time - Isa

@@isaandcas4118 ALO arc is just a damsel in distress theme with a simple villain. I enjoyed it, because i don't dislike tropes. But, it is a weird way to continue the first, Aincrad arc. It is a different anime. Now, of course i know why. SAO (Aincrad) was written by an amateur writer as a short web novel for a competition. Hence, why it ends so abruptly, and has so many time skips. Then it got popular, and he didn't know how to continue it. Eventually, he goes back and starts writing a reboot, known as SAO progressive (floor by floor, fleshed out characters, more side adventures with Asuna). And now the SAO progressive is canon, and what you just watched in the anime is actually not. SAO progressive does not have an anime, is not finished, and what is finished is not all in english. However, i do hope for a anime reboot based on the SAO progressive one day.

It's nowhere near the same though. Like the plot is the same (although it fixes a few plotholes humorously but that's not the most important part), but the characterization and character development in the original is absolute garbage imo. That's like half the writing, probably more because characters are the whole reason something is emotionally impactful or not. If one show has half of its writing who's completely and utter shit and the other doesn't have that weakness, it's better which is why I think the abridged is miles above the original (in term of writing of course, the original has pretty great animations and fights, but none of that really matters remotely compared to writing). Still I get the appeal of the original, first there's nothing quite like it, even less at that level of visual quality and it has very broad appeal. I'm sure tons of people discovered anime with it which is pretty awesome! But personally I just can't :/

@@houtarouchitanda3943 I love the original since it's one of the first anime I ever watched but the abridged series is superior in every way. It is 100% worth rewatching since you miss so much the first time. They really manage to make everything connect in a way the original series never could.
