The beauty of Canadian comedy is that you'll have multiple punchlines in a given scene with expert yet subtle delivery. Whereas in American comedy, there is this elaborate build up to the eventual climactic punchline. The delivery and payoff is almost like multiple laugh bombs going off throughout the scene. If you yell out loud, it means the cleverness of it all got you. I tell my non-Canadian friends that Canadian humour is your life always being in a bit lol.

I've had non Canadian friends say that they enjoy the chuckle a few days later after recognising funny bits of conversations. I think the mishmash of culture here and being squashed beside America can make some fellow Canadians very astute and funny. I've often been jealous of that quick and quiet humour.

"Schitt's Creek" is wonderful in many ways, one of which was that they ended it with season six. It didn't drag on or peter out, in fact ended with one of the best episodes ever. Also - fun fact!- although CBC initially produced the show, the network was leery of letting their broadcasters say the title on air. Seriously. Eugene and Daniel Levy, the originators, actually had to bring in phone books from across Canada to CBC to show them that 'Schitt' was a legitimate last name. Keep watching, all the way til the end, cause this is superb.

This series is a masterpiece, perfectly executed by every member of the cast including the ones you haven't met yet. Each episode adds subtle layers to the characters and the more you watch, the more you care about these people. It never gets stale and many episodes will leave you with a joyful tear in your eye, it has a heart as big as Canada. If you make it to the "open mike night" scene, it is so touching Catherine O'Hara can be seen wiping real tears away. The ending is well timed and brings the series to a wonderfully satisfying conclusion. If you can, watch it all and when you are done, move on to Corner Gas, you will love it.

He travels across the country to visit and talk about small towns that have been affected by big businesses moving out and how they survive today. You will also have to give a watch to other Canadian TV shows in other genres as well as comedy.
