They were very creative with using all kinds of sounds and techniques to blend into a unique sound. Similar to Pink Floyd, they were geniuses at doing that, and being unique and _good_ (and fun). And I think criminally underrated, even at the time -- I was the only one of my friends that listened to them. Their Top 5 are just about as good as anyone else's.

Roger Hodgson was/is an excellent lyricist. Very deep! Very well thought out! There is a pretty extensive body of work to pick from with Supertramp. Also check out some of Roger Hodgson solo work on an album titled "Eye If The Storm" released in 1984. The track "Had A Dream" became very popular at that time due to MTV playing the "Had A Dream" video in heavy rotation. The lyrics to that tune are once again very deep and thought provoking. Thanks for picking Supertramp for a reaction.

The Professor of Rock taught us that, at 9:07, one can hear the sound played from a handheld Mattel Electronics Football game when a touchdown is scored. The band played the game between takes. Edit: Yes in fact, change of possession, not a score.
@DannyD7142 жыл бұрын
the sound is from the mattel football game, but it's the sound when you fail to score after the 4th down, and the "ref" blows his whistle. the touchdown is more of a "chaaaarge" sound. whenever i hear it in this song i'm taken back to my 5th period history class in 1979. two guys in the back of the room would play it, and when i heard that sound i'd see them pass the game back and forth under their desks. that is until the teacher had enough and confiscated the game until class was over.

Fun fact about this album, they recorded it in the same studio as Fleetwood Mac while Fleetwood Mac was recording thier 1979 album Tusk (the album after Rumours). At the Village Recorder in Los Angeles. They were in the studio right down the hallway from Fleetwood Mac. I wonder if they ever hung out with each other during that time. I would imagine they did here and there.

Went to an all-boys boarding school in Australia, 8th grade thru 12th (‘79-‘83). Had its great moments but if you were bullied (and I was, constantly), there was no escape. I wasn’t sent there to become “logical”; I was in the way of family strife, so it was convenient for them to get rid of me for a few years. I’m still in touch with a few good mates from those years, it’s not all bad.

Hi Salvo, Please look for all the live Supertramp videos on KZbin. They are so cool to see as well as hear. Roger Hodgson was asked to be lead singer for "Yes", but he was already working with Rick Davies and turned it down. Roger actually did most of the arrangements on their songs. They all worked 12 hours a day with weekends off when working on a studio album. Please check out "Another Man's Woman" live. It is amazing.

Thanks for the Supertramp reaction! I always have loved them! I was in my 20s in the 1980s & it makes me so happy to see someone so much younger discovering my music for the 1st time & really appreciating it! My fav song by them is Cannonball, if you wanna add that one to your todo list. But I loved it coz it was a hit when I caught my abusive ex-husband cheating on me & it was my go-to anthym for awhile! Lol! But I love the song on it's on merit - not bcoz of my ex & that whole situation! I love your channel here + the sleep sounds channel. The new one over on that channel is wonderful! Hope you had a wonderful holiday! God bless!!
