Most people I've seen so far, their reaction to "Tolerate It" is almost always similar. At first, they have this expression of wondering where she's going with this and how the phrase "tolerate it" will fit in the song. And when she sings "my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it" their expression change into something like getting stabbed in the heart right there in that moment. That's the beauty of it all.

@@kirkveloria5974 there's a little typo. It's "...falling feels like flying..." It just means falling for someone feels great until your you get your heart broken.

@@kirkveloria5974 the lyric "i dont like that falling feels like flying till the bone crush" relates to the phrase "falling in love" where you fall in love with a person but the real feeling is flying because you're so in love that you feel like just floating into happiness so the lyrics "i dont like that falling feels like flying till the bone crush" means that the person does not want to fall in love into happiness because in the end, it'll just break him/her like bones

In 'Tolerate It'... the lyric, "Use my best colors for your portrait", refers to, when she's talking to her friends/family, she's building him up as to be this spectacular husband, and using her best descriptions for him. And also... she starts the song and ends the song with the same 5 words, "I sit and watch you"... in other words, she could have ended it, "break free and leave us in ruins", but she doesn't. She's trapped and just deals with it. This is brilliant song writing. Paints such a vivid picture. Oh and the lyric, "now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life" might be one of the most painful I've heard. So. Much. Pain.

Tolerate It is in 5/4 tempo. Songs are usually in 4/4. But the percussion behind that goes quickly is representative of anxiety and heart beating fast.

You say you didn't interpret some of the songs on Folklore correctly but every one I've seen you do for Evermore has been spot on! On a side note: the reason you struggled to find the rhythm of Tolerate It, is because it's a 5 beat track instead of the usual 4 beat. It threw me at first too but after a few listens, the odd beat suddenly makes sense. Wonderful commentary and analysis yet again :)

I was just wishing for the next song. And here are three at once. :) I love these three. I can hardly stop between them. I don't know why. I remember listening to 'Tis the dawn season again and again. And I love Tolerate it. It's so emotional. The lyrics and the way she sings. The lyrics on Evermore are so great. It's my fave Taylor album since release. That's a long time for me. Normally it switches between her albums a lot. Great reaction and I can't wait for the next part. :)
