How can they not know Band Aid. USA For Africa was made after that, the idea was from Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, the organizers of Live Aid, the most important event in the history of music. Band Aid is still very listened to, it should have been top 2 or top 1 here. On Spotify it has more than 600 million streams, so it's surprising that you don't know the song.

I was curious myself, so went looking. The original Band Aid peaked at 94 in the US Rolling Stone Top 100, so it's not surprising that it's not so well known 40 years later when it didn't seem to make much of an impact in the US at the time of release.

@@AlienDenzil85 1. What is the Rolling Stone top 100? The important US chart is Billboard. 2. The song was #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time of its release (as always in the USA, being different from everyone, the song was #1 or #2 in the rest of the world) but it was still very successful.

You could quite reasonably argue that the pogues were British. The pouges being a London Irish band and the vast majority of the performers being born in the uk. The record was recorded and produced in London.

All those songs are ultra famous here - I don't think Mariah Carey could be counted as British or Irish.
@kevanwillis45718 күн бұрын
Maria Carey, Irish? Americans are a hoot! Her mother wasn't even Irish, but of Irish descent. 😅

Shakin Stevens Merry Christmas Everyone is my favourite. Honestly thought it would place higher

4 or 5 songs there i've never heard of and i'm a 50yr old Brit who works 12 hour shifts with the radio on all day. I think Mariah Careys would be more popular than them, along with "Donald where's your trousers" LOL

crazy how you guys dont know these, this is like half the songs you hear on the radio. American christmas music must be like 3 total songs haha.

Ranking was ridiculous. Safe to say though UK & Ireland has the best Christmas songs

Bell End. Geddit? If Tim and Sarah don't finally tie the knot, then I don't like this list.

A lot of Irish Christmas songs missing.

It’s probably just a British list but people would question The Pogues counting in that case, even though they actually kind of are. Kirsty MacColl is too

@@kJ922-h3j Shane McGowan was born near where I live. At Pembury Hospital, Kent England. Attended Holmewood School untill he was 13. Near Tunbridge Wells Kent. The Pogues were formed in Kings Cross London. So the Pogues are British.

@ I think actually almost all the members were born in England but they were of Irish descent and definitely classed themselves as an Irish band I think, with that style of music too
