This song was performed for the first satellite link up around the world. That is how famous the Beatles were, a message to the world!!

This song is what made the Beatles great. They were about ultimately all about love and they made these anthems that not only were joyous but made you want to sing along.

The Beatles performed this live on “Our World” which was the first live, international, satellite television production. The programme was broadcast via satellite and seen by an audience of over 400 million in 25 countries. Hence the simplicity of Lennon’s lyrics

Martin's intro of the French anthem evoking " love " is splendid.

Lennon wrote the song knowing several different countries were going to see it on the Our World telecast so he kept the message simple.

Would have to be one of my favorites from The Beatles! Love the brass slightly off time and slow. Great points by Ty, I never thought of it as corny, but he is not wrong about if it was released now.

Play the video of them recording/ performing it. It's great. Not corny at all, a pertinent message always. There was much added later...some more strings ....including the melody for Greensleeves... & some 1930's jazz elements . Much creativity at this time.

if there was only Beatles song you could choose to send out to the world , this is this is the most important in any era. the world sucks for a lot of people because a lot of other people suck. This song is far from corny in the message. it was made to be simple in order to get the message across to to the entire world via satellite broadcast...simple, not corny. All You Need is Love and some education in history. the song existed long before the movies it was used in. Write your own new song and get rid of these defective anti human beings like Putin and no one would call your song corny 60 years from now.

Choosing a song in the Beatles catalog is a very difficult undertaking (too many, too big and out of magnitude from '65 to '70), but "Tomorrow never know" could be a good "start" ^^

Even this song has that dark part. When they sing " All you need is love" the instruments go da-dadada-daaaa in a downbeat, as if it is a bit of a Monty Python joke. Same thing with Revolution, when they sing "But when you talk about destruction... Don't you know that you can count me out " you can hear John Lennon sing simultanously with "me out " , "me IN". Always with the tongue-in-cheek. They were actually playing on the fake idea of the hippie "Love and Peace" stuff, knowing it was all just a temporary illusion.

Ty, you need to loosen up. Listen to your old man, and don't be so stiff. :)
