@@geronomina6395 Oh, let me tell you, I have. But the point is, that I was born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's of the former GDR. I saw and knew many people those days for whom the Ärzte text fit exactly. Their Lyrics reveal the real reason of weakness and vulnerability of those who spread hate. Oh and I saw lots of reactions of those Assholes who got triggered by the lyrics and couldn't handle the truth. So, yes, if a song has such a strong impact on the target group, then it is not just a really good song. In this context, it is also an important song. But feel free to enlighten me and the comment section about any other song that has such an impact.

"Schrei nach Liebe" is a song by the Berlin punk rock band Die Ärzte, which is directed against neo-Nazis and was first released in 1993 as the band's first single after their reunification. >> The core theme of the song is the behavior of an unspecified or unnamed fascist and its possible causes. The lyrics ironize the flimsy reasons for the fascist behaviour of the right-wing radical, but at the same time show what neglect by parents and guardians, life crises and a certain amount of stupidity and aggression can lead to when the correspondingly tempting and supposedly secure right-wing radical environment is added.

I'd go with "to arcutilate". That matches the way English speakers struggle with long words better. Pulling the "zu" ("to") into the middle of the verb is something that happens with splittable German verbs (niederlegen -> niederzulegen), so it is a mistake German speakers sometimes make, but it isn't a feature in English.
@klausheckendorf649
@klausheckendorf649 5 ай бұрын
@@HenryLoenwind You´re right. That´s probably why my "english version" already sounds bumpy and wrong while "artizukulieren" matches the way we usually use verbs in a sentence like this - but only separable verbs as you said. Therefore some people may not even recognize the mistake immediately. Howsoever - ich danke Sie!

Little sidenotes: Springerstiefel were the paratrooper's boots. However neon@zis used them as part of their 'uniform' of shaved skull, bomber jacket, these boots, and military pants. The laurel wreath without acorns was a medal in the Nutsi era. But the Eicheln/acorns were added by Die Ärzte to make it rhyme. But then again, anything supposedly decidedly "Aryan"/German by the nutsis like the German oak was elevated to "sacred" or "master" status. So they might have used it to make a mockery of the nutsi. Supposedly some neon@zi groups actually used a tattoo of the laurel wreath WITH acornd to further their identity as a member of their group. "Störkraft" (disruptive power) and "Onkelz" (short for "Bösen Onkelz" = bad unclez were two decidely extreme right wing/neon@zi German bands, at leadt at the time when this song was written. Or at least they were associated with the nutsis. The Onkelz changed a bit but I still wouldn't consider them pro-immigrant. Kuschelrock LP was a compilation of romantic rock songs from various bands on one album. LP = long play record. These compilations were a trend in the late 80's and soon numbered up to twenty+ compilation albums. They were somewhat frowned upon by the tough, macho, militaristic image the German skinheads wanted to uphold.

The band is called The Ärzte. The song is pretty old. The song was released in 1993 after the attacks of asylum houses in Germany. In this song the band described a typical skinhead with combat boots (with white shoelaces), no hair, Bomberjacke (a special jacket) who listens to typical bands like Störkraft (the Onkelz is a band who had only one MC in 1981 which was not sold offically. They distanced themselves from racism, but there are still nazis who listen to their music. Even there is no racism contents in the lyrics. The boys fight for more than 40 years for their image). Die Ärzte wanted to show what went wrong in the education and parenting of this skinhead and the Kuschelrock CD is a album with ballads of varios artists which is realeased every year with new songs. The latest album is volume 37. This song (with lyrics) is known by nearly every adult in Germany and that‘s so important! We say: Alerta! Alerta! Antifascista!

So a little historical context to this would be that during the time of the release of the song (early nineties) there was a massive resurgence of open neo-nazism in the wake of the fall of the Warsaw Pact and the German reunification. In the newly joined former East German states was a part of the population that were open to this kind of ideas, having lived under the regime of the SED and having developed anti-communist and revanchist sentiment. This was exploited and stoked on by a move of West German nao-nazis into these areas as they celebrated the "fall of communism" and the "liberation of German lands". They quickly* established networks of like minded people and went on to attack refugee centers and just anyone else who looked "un-German" and got into fights with antifa, anarchists and police. *quickly means very quickly here. This process of organizing started basically as soon as the border was open, even before it was clear if and how reunification would happen.

let me add something to your background info :) one of the main reasons, why it went so fast or quickly was the lack of perspectives for the former GDR citizens due to the total collaps of their economy and badly managed unification. Through this people were looking for a scapegoat. And Neo Nazis gave it to them...foreigners and refugees.

When they published that song, it still was kinda ballsy, because there were a lot of Neonazis in that time, especially during the early 90s, and unfortunately, especially in the Ex-GDR states. There were even some assassinations and arson crimes that killed a lot of immigrants. It was awful. It was a time when Punks would really clash with Neonazis. Die Ärzte have a lot of songs that take a fun twist on social themes - feminism, machoism, parent-child relationship, gender relations, democracy, anti-fascism and sometimes very, very, very dark topics. Their newest song is called Democracy, and a love song to the right to vote.

This is a song about so called "skins" (becouse of the shaved head) and the sterotyping used in this song is very familiar. the "onkelz" (Böse Onkelz) and "störkraft" are also bands that have a bad image towards "rassissum" ..."Die Ärzte" call themself "Die Beste Band Der Welt" (best band of the world) and there are werth to listen more to. "Hier kommt Alex" is an pretty early song as well about rassisum and hate and unecessesary force. I would also recomend Farin Urlaub, one of the three members , solo projects "Die Dusche" (the shower) for example.

Since they were mentioned in this song.. you might wanna check out "BÖHSE ONKELZ" (Live in Hockenheim 2014/2015) great concerts, MASSIVE crowd..2014 was their reunion (2x100.000 people), in 2015.. 4 x 100.00 people! (You really need english subtitles, though, not sure if they are included) They have a somewhat controversial past and have been around (on and off) for 40 years. There is also a documentary about them on KZbin (40 Jahre Böhse Onkelz / english subtitles available).

Controversial past is an understatement. In the 90ties when this song by the Ärtzte was made, they were well known to be the most succesful German rock band that more or less openly carters to fascist ideas in their lyrics and young German neonazis liked to use their fan merch (like t-shirts and oversized car stickers) to show their allegiance to the radical rightwing. Some of their older songs and albums have been indexed. They did a 180 turn some time in the late 90ties (or was it early 2000nds?) and made a fully antifascist album titled "Nie wieder" (Never again), but many people suspected that the reason for this was the desire to remain commercially succesful and to be able to market their music legally in Germany rather than an actually sincere change of heart.

@@chrisrudolf9839 They had a skin head phase in the 80s. Since the 90s they had nothing to do with it any more and none of their songs reflect any right wing ideology. Also there weren't 600.000 Nazis at those concerts, have you watched them? "People suspected".. yeah sure.. we see lots of those comments on social media these days, especially from MSM.. Means nothing.

They actually broke up in the end of the 80s. in 1993 they found Rodrigo "Rod" Gonzalez to be their new bassist and worked on a new album. Before in 1992. Rostock happened. Neonazis attacked Refugee Homes with Molotov-Cocktails and such. Then "Die Ärzte" they said they had to make a statement. They wanted to make their position clear. "Schrei nach Liebe" became the new hymn against racism and facism. In the recent years they made up with their biggest rivals back then, the "Toten Hosen" who are now allowed to play the song and also like to play the song, to renew the statement.

A few years ago many german radio stations decided to play this song at least once every 30 to 60 minutes for a week to try and combat the rising right-wing ideologies and fascism, even though the song was already 20+ years old by that point.

about "it would be way more ballsy to bring this song out maby 100 years ago" for example in 1928 an austian actor and musician named "Fritz Grünbaum" did put out the song "Einen großen Nazi hat sie!" were he was making fun of fascist/nazis a few years later under the hitler regime he was killed at an concentration camp...

You have to understand. Combat Boots are a little bit wrong translation. In German it calls Springerstiefel. These are the boots like Doctor Martens. HigherBoots. The neo-farcist in germany in the early years had white shoelace and big and higher boots, and these boots called Springerstiefel. If a had white shoelace it was a sings you are an neo- nazi. Neo Nazi in germany very often wear these kind of boots, green "Bomberjacken" very often jackets from ALPHA INDUSTRIES and they had bald head. But not today. Icons from the 3th Reich are forbidden in germany they are unconstitutionally.

Hey, if you look to go further into german rock, i think it is good to see "böhse onkelz" as well, if you want a song similar to "schrei nach liebe" or against facism i recommend "deutschland im herbst" or "ohne mich". One of those is more about fascism, the other about extremists in both left/right... just a recommendation. Onkelz were mentioned in this song, they had a wild past but changed their ways. Anyway, Have fun listening to some german sounds :)

It's a relatively old song. Within the lyrics you can read Onkelz. Onkels = Uncles plural, but Onkelz was a German far right wing music group.

I had a friend in high school and she was...right-wing (as most young people in my village - weekend fun time was hunting down the three foreigners who lived there and beating them up). However, she liked this band (just like I do!) and I always started to sing this song...which she didn't like. Strange! :D I heard recently that a study showed that far-right extremists (as in Na*is) are that way because they feel isolated and not loved... So die Ärzte were correct all that time. But last weekend, we had hundreds of neona*is in town...it was a real sausage party. Don't think they will get love, soon.
