How much does stance come into play with this, when talking vertical movement? When you moved the stock down lower it forced your head down lower and forward, which makes your head act as a counter balance of sorts...? Just thinking of reducing head movement when presenting the rifle... So, what about rifle stock in pocket but up high enough to reduce/eliminate head movement and then just have a forward body lean?? Could you show that? I'm curious to how that would look. thanks!

Moving the head forward helps to bring the center of gravity forward, reducing the effect of recoil and providing an automatic recovery. Recoil pushing the shooter backward allows the rifle to climb so, yes, moving the head forward helps to minimize upward movement. You will notice a decrease in sight movement with the rifle lower in the shoulder since the reciprocating mass is pressing directly into the shoulder, as opposed to above the shoulder. The optimal setup is with the rifle shouldered low in the pocket and head forward. I prefer to keep my head up, which is why my competition rifle has a high optic mount and adjustable cheekpiece (allowing me to bury the rifle lower in the shoulder without craning my neck).

But now you are committing the cardinal sin of not bringing the gun to your eye, instead of bringing your cheek to the gun. And around and round we go.

When you place the stock inside our pectoral muscle actually you are bringing the gun to your eye 👍🏻. If you talking about the vertical axis, shifting the center of gravity of your body forward (leaning forward) will do the same job for you and the sights will be on your eye level without dipping your head down 👍🏻 Enjoy!
