They were good movie but they literally weren't Batman. Even the comic writers said it's weird it's a bad interpretation. Batman famously doesn't talk. Nolan's Batman never shuts up. Love how everyone misreads the "Robin" ending. He's not Robin, as in Dick Grayson, he's the new Batman. The "Robin" name is a symbol for his arc and the change he's made, and represents the passing of the torch.
@jamesf15582 ай бұрын
Thats a nice interpretation. But no, he's robin
@skrrskrr2 ай бұрын
@@jamesf1558 The whole point of the ending is that Batman lives on, but Bruce doesn't need to be him. Bruce can get his happy ending without Batman dying. Gotham needs Batman, but it doesn't need Bruce Wayne. John Blake is what Bruce always wanted from Batman. Batman finally becomes the symbol that Bruce wanted it to be, able to be passed on, because the man behind it isn't important. It ends with Bruce turning Wayne Manor into an orphanage, and having the Bat-Signal fixed, ready for use when Batman comes back, a Batman not from privilege or wealth, but an orphan from the slums, having Batman become the outlet for the oppressed to become heroes themselves. He still holds the same value for the story, and represents why Robin matters in the same way as Dick Grayson, but he doesn't actually become Robin, otherwise his name wouldn't have been Robin.

What just occurred to me about this beautiful ending, satisfying as hell, I've just picked up on a few things as well. How everyone basically came full circle. Bruce achieved his goal in making batman a symbol of hope, and how the words he said to jim Gordon to reveal who he was meant more as well. Bruce wanted batman to be the symbol of Gotham and retire and hope that one day some could carry the mantle after him. That's why he wanted everyone in Gotham to see that batman is truly a hero before passing on the torch to someone who he believes. And that reason is when Blake (Robin) went to his house to and Bruce saw fight in him to start his plan basically. And blake coming full circle as well being basically the next heir to Bruce as batman because Bruce told him to wear a mask. Alfred wanting Bruce to live his life and had a fantasy which came true. Jim Gordon finally proved to people that batman is the symbol of hope for Gotham. Selina getting the life she wants, a clean start and new beginning to life and ending up spending it with Bruce. It really does come full circle. And to this day, I still believe it's the best ending in any movie ever. Just because of how satisfying it was and how beautifully done it was as well.

@wjc960027 күн бұрын
That's speculation, we don't know what this "Robin" becomes.
@Curlyteacher53718 күн бұрын
@@wjc9600Given that he seems to have moved out of Gotham to work as a vigilante on his own, it would be safe to assume it’s Dick Grayson becoming Nightwing since he appears older, even though he was also in Jump City running the Titans for a while as Robin too. None of the other former Robins actually left Gotham to fight in a new city working alone. Jason operated both as Robin and as Red Hood, an antihero and crime boss, in only Gotham, Tim led teams outside of Gotham as Robin and Red Robin but never worked alone outside of Gotham, and Damian is still a child and only has been Robin (injustice excluded). Dick is the only logical option unless that is Gotham, but given the look of the place I highly doubt it. Also, Dick absolutely hates being Batman and only does it temporarily out of necessity. He would never take on the cowl permanently and was the first bat to established himself as a hero in his own right.

@@wjc9600 I’m saying that given what we are shown, the highest likelihood is that it’s Dick Grayson becoming Nightwing rather than any of the other Robins across the timelines. There is no given definite answer so yes technically any answer is speculation, but this one is an informed speculation based on objective facts and knowledge of the possibilities it could be.

There were four people present at the funeral of Bruce. To each one, he left something significant.. To Alfred, he left the assurance that he was ok and was focussing on his self, health and family. To Commissioner Gordon, he left a savior in the form of Robin. For gotham, hope still remained. To Fox, he left the peace of mind that the tech was fixed and that there was nothing more that anyone could have done. To Robin, he left the chance to become who he was destined to be. To make a difference where it mattered, to help the city of Gotham. And that is how the greatest ending of all the movies ever created, was designed and executed. Take a bow, C.Nolan!

The best ending would've been Alfred's initial shock turning into a smile before rolling the credits. Maybe add in Selina Kyle walking towards Bruce from behind Alfred if you want to make sure the audience knows they ended up happy and together.
