It's Ironic, in a way Baelish's downfall mirror's Ned's; they were both undone by assuming others thought the same way as they did, when they did not. Many of the steps to Ned's downfall were because he assumed people like Jeoffery, Cersei and Baelish to follow the same rules of honour that he did, only for their treacherous ways to counter him at every turn. Baelish assumed that Arya Stark, like himself and many of the vipers he had played for so many years in King's Landing, sought power, and would see family only as an obstacle to overcome, or at least wanted power enough that he could convince Sansa she thought like this. It never occurred to him that she could have no interest in being lady of Winterfell, a fact Sansa did know, meaning that all his schemes were doing, was throwing suspicion right back at him.

The maid is Sansa at the wedding feast of Joffrey, wearing her hairnet with purple gemstones which contain poison, the savage giant is Littlefinger, whose family sigil is actually a Titan rather than a mockingbird, and the castle built of snow is most probably Winterfell, making it very poetic.

Littlefinger is the one that screwed himself over when he tried to stage that Arya wanted to kill her sister so she can be Lady of the North. Sansa knew that was the last thing she ever wanted to be, so she ended up seeing past all his lies.

Little Finger was a weasel and totally deserves what happened to him considering the things he did. But to be fair Ned was doomed with or without him helping with the plot against him.

littlefinger is the smartest person in Westaros, a master player in the game of thrones and he would never have died that easely and stupid. I really hate how dumb they portray him in the show. Even I could have easily talked myself out of this trial.
@jimrichardson7062 жыл бұрын
@@azlnbstrmann1577 REALLY??? You could talk your out of a trial where you caused the death of an assassins' father, mother, oldest brother, his pregnant wife, and her youngest brother due to your treachery? I bow to your confidence but Arya was set to this guy, even if he was you.
@azlnbstrmann15772 жыл бұрын
@@jimrichardson706 First of all, littlefinger wasn't involved in the Red Wedding. Why should he kill his beloved Catelyn? And i'm not saying that arya wouldn't just kill him anyway. I'm just concerned about how badly this entire trial is written. I'd just say: you have no proof that I did those things, just that cripple boy who claims to know everything. It would be even less disappointing if Arya just killed him after she found out he was responsible for neds death etc. But they're just pretending that littlefinger is stupid and just doesn't defend himself. Please watch the scene again and you'll see that he's not even trying to defend himself. The Littlefinger I know would do more than beg for mercy. In the books, it makes a lot more sense that Sansa will eventually overthrown him because he's teaching her how to play the Game of Thrones and she's going through some character development as well.
@jimrichardson7062 жыл бұрын
@@azlnbstrmann1577 Oops on the missing words. But I did write he "caused" those deaths. My point is that he is in the royal house in the North and everyone knows his treachery and hate him, even if they may take his money. What proof would a royal need to kill a known enemy of their country that's living in their house, in a tale where dragons fly and Jon comes back to life? everyone has a great plan until they get punched in the real hard - then the plan goes to crap. He even went to the guy from the Vale (who he had threatened to have killed earlier) and demand to be escorted to the Vale to show how far he was knocked off his game - over confident. Do you think the Freys and Boltons would have moved against the Starks with Ned alive and without the Lannister backing? If he hadn't killed the original Hand, Ned would have never left we have no story. Yes I agree the writing was weak but this shit writes itself. They foreshadowed this in the much earlier seasons, then again when Baelish gave Brandon the dagger - "chaos is a ladder" he shoulda left town then. BTW did you notice when Sansa gave Arya the nod to kill him?

Never ever piss off powerful women. Some are stone killers and make lists. Bayless developed the look of "Oh, Shit, I'm dead," The first clue to the scene was when Arya walked into the trial fully armed. Prisoners are never left armed.

The Littlefinger/Sansa plot line is one that I'm looking forward to the most in the books. The books storyline is so much more complex than it is in the series. It's not Sansa that marries Ramsey, it's her friend and steward's daughter Jayne. The Lannister's are passing her off as Arya. Littlefinger is still alive and with Sansa at the end of the last book. She is pretending to be his bastard daughter, Alayne.

They had to set it up like it was Arya's trial. Otherwise Littlefinger would have known something was up, slipped away. But Littlefinger is such a proud conceited bastard that he wouldn't be able to STOP himself from watching his little games play out. Sansa played him. Baited him right into the trap with a bait he wouldn't ignore. A trial announced, so soon after working to set sister against sister. In no manner of his thinking would he EVER have thought it would be HIS. That it wasn't his plot coming straight to fruition, but a plot against him blossoming. "Evil always contains the seeds of its own destruction. It is ultimately negative, and therefore encompasses its downfall even at its moments of apparent triumph." -Charles Dickens. Balish lived for his own ego and power and his little games. And his ego and little games led straight to his own death. Sansa even made a point of tricking him, in front of the KNIGHTS OF THE VALE, into confessing to the killing of the Queen of the Vale. He never denied it, he tried to justify it. So when he turned to them to save him they refused.

If you notice when Arya is brought in before Sansa, she still had needle and the Catspaw daggar. If Arya was the one on trial then her weapons would’ve been taken away. But they weren’t so that’s how you know Arya wasn’t the one on trial.
