I don't know how many times I watched this scene, but I cried every single time! Strength and honor, Ser Brienne!

I love how intense this moment is between Jamie and Brianne, so that Jamie is startled by the clapping, as though he’d forgotten there were others in the room.
@happyninja422 ай бұрын
I do love how as Jamie says "Arise Brienne of Tarth...a knight of the Seven Kingdoms", you hear the music begin to swell and rise in time with it, so even the music is lifting her up into her new status as a knight.

I love that all the men in the room are treating the moment with reverence and respect.
@Sab_MJsMama2 ай бұрын
Why wouldn't they? Knights are usually held in high esteem. They knew that if Jamie was offering to knight Brienne, that it wasn't a joke. They knew he was serious and wasn't playing around. Because that was considered an exclusive "brotherhood" that most men weren't privvy to much less women.
@urthboundmisfitАй бұрын
@@Sab_MJsMama Just because a position is held in high esteem doesn't mean all men would be okay with a woman attaining that position. It just so happens that some of the best men in the Seven Kingdoms are assembled in that room.

Brienne had already earned the respect of every man in that room many times over. They all knew exactly who she was and accepted her as one of the best of them.

Honestly I was fine with everything except how they ruined Jaime's entire story arc and did nothing with Jon's story after amping it for 8 seasons. Otherwise there were some great episodes in the season.

People rag on season 8, and rightly so. However, this is one of the best moments in the entire show.
@shect12 ай бұрын
It had great moments, the writers were still good writers who can come up with those scenes, but it was still rushed (because the show runners wanted to be done with it, HBO wanted to give them as much time as they need). Even with the rushed feeling where it was harder to justify the Daenerys going bad so fast, the real issue was the end of the Lannisters. Death by a crumbling building without that one scene with Cersei facing off one of her enemies and realizing she's lost. Leading up to it the discussions were on who it should be. Arya already had a couple of those revenge scenes and a lot of people still wanted her to be the one. Others wanted a real face off with Daenerys, not just her dragon dropping a building on Cersei. I still think if they had a better death scene for Cersei and Jaime people wouldn't mind it so much.

Yes. I agree that's it's one of the best moments of the series.

@@shect1 Daenerys’s turn wasn’t quick. There were signs all the way back in season 1. It was a slow burn (whoops), but she was also going to be a bad egg (Aeg?)

As messy as Season 8 is, it has many great moments. That certainly can't be denied.
@Sab_MJsMama2 ай бұрын
Those words are so simple, but so powerful. And the way Jamie delivers those words? It's not just because of his relationship with Brienne but as a knight he took those words seriously (in his way, he wasn't a saint but he was undeniably a defender of HIS realm/house and speaker of truth....for the most part) and knew that Brienne did too. She was definitely worthy of that title and all that came with it.

I appreciated this scene a lot more after I listened to the books (available on KZbin for free). I thought of it as just a cliche scene, but in the books, we get to know Brienne's thoughts and feelings. I now cry whenever I watch this scene. I hope this ends up happening in the books or at least something similar.

Season 8 was living up to, even surpassing expectations through 2 episodes, they had no earthly business even approaching expectations when it came to ending GoT, much less ending it earlier than it should’ve ended.

I can't remember if it was mentioned in any of the ASoIaF books, but it was established early on in the first Dunk & Egg story that a knight could make another knight.

Part of the reason young boys would squire for a knight, in the hope of being knighted themselves. Often after earning it in combat or when the knight they squired for was mortally wounded.
