As a wings enthusiast the vocals were so prominent in the song that it fascinated me that they started with a full a cappella which i also wished lasted throughout the entire song. They made it up to me in the end though. 💛 team rocket came for the kill

My favorite song on this album (and probably all-time) is Wings! This song was exactly what I needed in my life rn. I love how on this song, each member's parts fit them perfectly and further emphasize the meaning they're trying to convey. Its a very well-made and well-thought out song. Has be sobbing in warmth. My non-kpop fans also loved it and cryed along with me. So grateful 'Wings' exists ❤️

I really don't understand why redvelvet don't submit their albums to award shows because this album deserves MANY awards especially album of the year I really love this album since it came out till now i listen to it on repeat every single day, it's the best album redvelvet has ever released in my humble opinion however i couldn't care less about "will i ever see you again?" "iced coffee" "wings" and "scenery" for me they represent the filler songs but hey they could grow on me in the future however i'm pretty sure i'll always find them dull in comparison to the rest of the album

Every time i listen to bulldozer i remember joy and seulgi's remarks on how seulgi had to record the "bulldozer" harmony in soft whispers. And how seulgi's "what" adlibs were much more nasal and soft compared to joy's

What i notice from monotree is that they like joy's vocal so much. Their ballad may sound like any other ballad song. Like typical leaning to boring. So only few people actually patient enough to be a fan of this type. But they highlight joy's voice which i'm not mad and Loooooove it instead!! The simplicity the calmness and the airy-ness if that make sense😅 is what drown me in! Still remember how they crazy over joy's voice in their reaction in ladies night.. No wonder why At this point i just wish monotree should always be included in RVs album for this ballad song to balance out their other tracks. I genuinely obsessed with how they personalize song suitable for RV only and they stick with their own color even though it may not be most of fan faves. Even my fellow reveluv said this is her least favorite.

I think I’d rank the songs of the album like this (also based on what I heard the most, since the album dropped): Underwater (10/10, so good it made it outside my kpop list) >>>> nightmare > bulldozer > wings >>>> will I ever see you again (when I heard it at first I thought an advertisement jingle was playing) > iced coffee (pretty but boring) > one kiss (doesn’t resonate with me at all, but at least it’s dynamic) >>>scenery (I’m not a fan of ballads in the first place but it’s a much weaker Hear the Sea on top of that) Btw, I really love bulldozer. It gives me instant good mood, is kind of camp and that last a-ya part makes me body roll

Their AR did have a choice to make Wings fully showcase their vocal via a capella but they chickened out and resorted back to your average Kpop concert closing track. That's the biggest half-assing for me in this album. Umu is so right saying in that sense Kpop in general does have some kinda aversion to a capella. That, and the reverb-heavy first half of this album seems more in line with the Tiktok-catering 4th gen. But given that their promo is also very Tiktok-ish, it might be RV's target indeed? /shrugs Also about vocal arrangement: Joy having more time being homebound (she's missing the majority of RtoV tour) might explain why she's more involved in the vocal arrangement, in contrast to Wendy, who's got her hands full with her musical when SM rushed to appease protesting reveluvs with this album. Like Sean said, these two swapping parts was an interesting AR decision, maybe even the subunit we deserved but the subunit we never got (to not offset SM's main cash cow subunit, of course). Too bad, though. Boo SM boooo~

I don't think the first half is connected with a tiktok-ish vibe. Chill kill doesn't suit the tiktok algorithm. While Knock Knock/Underwater and other reverb songs mostly tend to suit the song environment more. On that side, there's some info that Seulgi even recorded her line in the dark for Underwater intro to get in deep dive below the water mood. This red velvet album definitely showcases their "RED VELVET" more since Chill Kill is a mix between RED and VELVET concept.

can’t call it a ‘switch in line distribution’ when wendy is still carrying the group’s vocals. if anything, it’s just additional work for her to focus on rap as well. you hear her everywhere in the album for a reason.

She's usually the one that records the songs first so her voice is usually the base for the rest of the members. Although if you check their earlier work she was way more present. Irene, Joy and Yeri barely had parts and now they do the parts Wendy and Seulgi used to take, from harmonies to adlibs, high notes to raps.

@@bluequeen8022 not true… at all. their earlier line distribution was actually fair enough, everyone had a chance to sing. it’s unrealistic to expect the weaker singers to have the same amount of lines as the best singer. however, one thing that has never changed is the amount of work wendy does. the other members didn’t ’take the parts’ she used to do, because she is still doing them. yeah, maybe along the years they’ve started to add their own adlibs here and there, but like you said, all the base work is still done by wendy. no one in the group is capable of taking this work load off her.
