The not so happy ending: the creeping dark mark on Noriko's neck followed by the free floating malignant tumor that is Godzilla. His war is over but their war against invasive cancer in her is about to begin. Oppenheimer and Minus One as a double header!

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been a G-fan. I didn’t cry at anything from 1954. I didn’t cry when Godzilla died in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. All the waterworks came with Minus One for this scene and Akiko crying

Director Takashi Yamazaki confirmed that the black scar is made up of Godzilla cells, or G-cells. G-cells have played a major role in the creation of two of Godzilla's most well-known villains, Biollante and SpaceGodzilla.

The real tragedy is in the film's final seconds that show Godzilla regenerating -- and tragic not for the humans but for Godzilla himself as the poor guy is in constant pain from the super cancer his body has become thanks to radiation exposure from atomic testing. Blowing his head off could have been seen as a mercy killing, but the last scene shows that even THAT won't end his suffering.

Ironically it was Godzilla himself who saved her. During the atomic blast, she might've inhaled some of Godzilla's cells or G-Cell (skin, breath) which saved her life. That mark on her neck is a G-Cell scar.

Godzilla killed her and also brought her back to life but how? On the back of her neck was a Godzilla scale, it regenerate her back to life. This was very clever.

I was so mad when she died, but even more mad that survived. lol I mean, she flew away like a leaf in a tornado, caught up in a maelstrom of sharp and blunt debris, and she somehow crashed without dying or breaking every bone in her body.

The only issue I ever had with this scene is that they didn't have any makeup artists give Noriko any scratches or bruises on her to make the injuries she suffered more believable.
