2 things stands out. 1st the guy never really told Jamison anything about him just in case he doesn't die. And 2nd Jamison said, "So I'm your first victim," but thought twice about it. Stephen King is a master.

I read The Fifth Step upon its release. I enjoyed the heck out of it, though my fascination was well and truly amalgamated with shock in the last minute or so of the story. I thoroughly liked the lot. I didn't think I'd enjoy the read/commentary combo, but I'm happy to say I think you pulled it off extremely well. Cheers, man. Cheers. I found your account a month or so ago. I've greedily consumed many of your videos since. I'm very glad I found your channel. You're very good at what you do, fellow Constant Reader. love Mr King - he's the master of tales As soon as the 5th stepper said he had beaten the classmate for no reason, other than he didn't like the kid, red flags were flying.... I didn't trust him at all at that point, and was so hoping Jamison would just leave the bench and walk away. Good story; thank you for the great presentation of it Looking forward to more!

I note the reference to an old short story, 'Last Wrung on the Ladder'. I also didn't faile to notice the guy's villainy - not because of the Yankees logo but because Jack was so evidently nondescript, like many of SK's baddies. like you, it was all to innocuous and I was just waiting for the twist. Intriguingly, it's made me call into question this Jack's entire story. I'll be hanging out for the collection upon its release. Ngā mihi.

5:32 Leo?? 5:37 and Jamison is portrayed by Robert DeNiro. Okay 17:36 I was going to suggest that perhaps Jack had something to do with Jamison's wife's death, until I checked, and she died of cancer. Ah, well 20:44 Wretched Ralph looks like King crossed with Hans Moleman lol Did you do the art for this (cause it's really good)(oh my gosh, is THAT where I got my own tendency to paranthise?)? 24:20 If you're feeling generous you could also check the "references another King work" box for when Jack said he was on "the last rung on the ladder." While not an explicit reference, it is the title of another story. Well, that was great. Good story, well read. I would enjoy more like it.
