Goodness … The Nine Tailors. I read this decades ago but recently acquired an audio version, which I will definitely listen to now you’ve reminded me. Thank you ❤

Just wanted to share with you that you’re hands down one of my favorite podcasters. The books you recommend and review have all been very worthwhile reads. It’s nice to hear the little snippets of stories that you share and last but NOT least, it’s always fun when Miss Tilly makes a cameo appearance. Thank you for what you do! ❤️

I'm so glad I found you! I love to read, and kind of hibernate in the winter, so having your list of books to read will make the nasty weather easier to live through! (I live in Wisconsin in the U.S. and we had our first snow yesterday, November 21st). I have read Jamaica Inn and actually was there! I lived in Norfolk for about 10 years, travelled that part of the country on vacation, and just had to find the Inn! Have a picture of it in my copy of the book. Enjoy your videos, and Tilly of course.

Winter Solstice by R Pilcher is one if my all time favourite books to re-read! Elspeth & Oscar 😍 Also high on my winter reading re-read list in A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg.

Snow falling on cedars by Guterson. Great for a cold gloomy winter weekend - snow optional but enhances the narrative!

Plus a lighter read is Christie’s Hercule Poirot’s Christmas.

Thank you Rosamunde! So glad I am online again. I've missed you! So hlad you suggested Jamaica Inn as I've thought for decades it was not set in England! I have Lovely Bones and never read it. Now sounds intriguing. I recommend for Winter a Maine writer, Van Reid and his Daniel Plainway or the Holiday Haunting of the Moosepath League, written in 2000, but set in Portland, ME in Fall/Winter1896. I really like the evocative cover. It uses the Pickwick Papers as scaffold. His delightful debut novel was Cornelia Underhill, set Summer 1896 and introduces The Moosrpath League.

Lovely Bones is staggeringly beautiful and made me sob. I'm a woman whose been through some things and I rarely cry. That book broke me. And I still recommend it 20 years later.

I absolutely love watching your videos and hope you get 10,000 subscribers by the end of the year. Here in South Florida, the temperature dropped to 55F (13C) this morning and that’s cold for Floridians! 😂 it will only last a few days, so I decided to decorate for Christmas. Thanks for the winter reading suggestions. The R. Pilcher novel sounds interesting and my library has it. Lucky me! Happy reading. 😊

I have read Winter Solstice so many times. One of my top favorite comfort reads. Have you read Drumveyn by Alexandra Raife? I remember her writing style is similar to Pilcher, and I loved this book in particular.

I love Rosamund Pilchers book, especially Winter Soltice. I probably read it every winter along with The Harvester by Gene Stratton Porter. The last is a very romantic book and is from the early 1900's.

Thank you for the recommendations! I'm sitting here trying to think of any favorite books that take place in winter and I am finding I can't. Hmm. I almost bought Winter Solstice as a Christmas gift for my great-aunt, but I ended up picking a Christmas mystery instead. That one may end up on my own TBR because you're not the first person I've seen to recommend it. Happy reading!

Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy your views on all books, not just those recently published. I too was disappointed with A Week In December; I find Sebastian Faulks rather hit and miss. That said Human Traces has stayed with me even more than Birdsong , I highly recommend it! Lynn

Thankyou very much for this list for winter reading some of which I’ve read (one I re-read every year and one of which I read years ago!) but others new to me. I think we have quite similar taste in books which is lovely. Take care and keep warm!

Yes, love your videos ever since KZbin recommended your channel to me! You've mentioned Winston Graham in a few other videos and I kept thinking "I've read something by him but what?" and it's the book Marnie (also a movie with Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery). It's quite an interesting story. Your pup Tilly is truly adorable! 💗💓💞

Hi Rosamunde, I enjoyed it so much as usual. And Tilly is her usual happy self. We had a surprise snowfall yesterday too. We were so surprised and it looked so pretty all day, but this afternoon it is changing into ☔️ rain. Your list sounds so good. I read Winter Solstice for the first time last year and it was my favorite of Rosamunde Pilcher’s books. It wags so cozy and I loved every minute of that read. 😊 Right now I am reading Her Fearful Symmetry, about Highgate Cemetary. I’m not too far into it yet, and it may be a bit strange but I will still enjoy the parts about the cemetery. Thank you.😊 Love to Tilly. ❤

Hi Rosamunde, thank you for your excellent recommendations! On the theme of winter reading, there's a wonderful Lord Peter Wimsey short story called "The Necklace of Pearls" that takes place at Christmas. You've inspired me to track down my copy of "The Nine Tailors"...can't wait to make a cup of tea and dive in.

So happy you popped up in my KZbin feed! I just purchased Winter Soltice a few weeks ago but haven’t started yet, can’t wait to read it. Now I need to get The Nine Tailors! By the way, Mystery in White by J. Jefferson Farjeon is a good Christmas crime story, that has a blizzard, a train, and a creepy house . Have you read it?

Another great video full of interesting books! ❤ I've read a few of them, but you've motivated me to re-read Pilcher's 'Winter Solstice' this winter season. I also just picked up one of *your* books, Rosamunde - 'Out of Time' - a family history mystery with maybe some time travel. (I'm hoping!) It sounds perfect for winter, too. 😊 ~ Kim
