I love these techniques you suggested. Also relating what you read to your personal experiences and visualizing what you read

Indeed, it's hard to concentrate sometimes during reading. For me it helps when I slow down a bit, or read aloud, or read aloud walking around the room, like you're giving a speech on the stage.

Thanks Grace.. For all your time and what you do for us. Psychology states the more senses you can get involved with learning the more you will remember

The Black Swan is the book that I'm reading now, and the reason why I needed to improve my reading.

Thank you Grace for sharing your experience. I found that I need to reflect more on what I read to reduce forgetting curve.

Hi Grace, I totally agree with your ideas about how to keep long retention after reading. I'm gonna to share with you another perception that after reflecting in ones mind, it is better---so at least it seems to me--- to talk or present them to others in your own words or examples you have experienced or learned. As we know, rephrase/recap those information or give a represention to someoen via a new story will be a better to method to construct your knowledge and reflection about the contents you have read. the process looks like you share a video about how to learning from reading. after your hard investigation, you made an incredible digital film for us. when someone edits those video resources until it is uploaded, he is repeatedly learning those informaiton, extraction and reconstruction of which he may demand at any time. Personally, that would be a best way to copy and stimulate for all of us who have always studying English as second language or who have run into bottleneck on reading or something else. A humble view!

Thank you, Dr. Lee! I think tip 4 was most profound for me. I will be sure to use more time for taking note of my thoughts, which is much harder for me when reading a book vs. an article. I also like tip 2. I think my approach to reading, going forward, will be more intentional about how I read based on the type of book I'm reading.

Dear Dr Grace Lee, Could you please give an example on taking notes on our own thoughts?

I'll try to reflect by writing down in my own level of understanding as you suggested, and not by words as practically used by the writer for me to easily recall and apply towards any action or application i want to do. This sinks in into my mind. Thank you so much Dr.Grace Lee.

Do you ever talk about what you’ve read with others? I find that useful to retain the material. I agree with you 1000% that we need to take responsibility for our own lifelong learning after the ink on our diplomas has dried.

Reading requires a level of focus, which I struggle to maintain. I am easily drawn away from the text by internal and external stimuli.

Thanks Dr Grace for sharing. I have used your methodology in university without reazling it as I need to break down concepts in economics to remember during my exams. Having said that, your articulations of these methodogies are a nice refresher and reminder of how to achieve memory retention, especially for study materials where one might find it a dry topic. very insightful!!

I resonate almost exactly the same on the subject of encyclopedia’s. We moved into a house once where the previous owners left us an entire library of encyclopedias in order from A to Z, though it is now a blighted plot of land in a blighted area of town.

Neural Science: quite interesting reading secrets. So I have a photographic memory that used to function 100%, but now my photographic memory only functions once in a while, its almost like, there is a magnetic field somehow blocking my photographic memory and thoughts, well my thoughts get scattered 95% of the time. Question is, what is blocking my thoughts and photographic memory? Thanks Dr. Grace, I do like reading and sometimes when I read my mind starts wondering around and thinking about random things, therefore I have to re-read what I just read to fully understand what I read. Why the random thoughts while reading? Finally, how are the neurons connected to the nerves of individuals that give instructions to the rest of the body like for example turning a book page? 🥰⭐️💎
