READ your WARRANTY! No, It's not fun. Yes, it is necessary.

The warranty sucks in North America... Europe has put out a law that everything sold has a 2 year minimum warranty. Hope this changes one day in your area. Our warranty is covered during the whole 2 years, whoever owns it, meaning if I sell it during that period to someone else it will be covered. The serial number helps trace when it was first purchased. Of course having the invoice helps even better. Everything else you are talking about : 3rd party blades, mats and so on void the warranty. I keep telling everyone about that. The techs have eagles eyes to see that another brand has been used. The tear is proper to each accessory. Thanks for this great video. Thanks for the consise overview of the warranty. As you say, we rarely read these things, as we're bombarded with legalese on a daily basis... when signing up to online services and subscriptions, installing software, or even visiting a website, with their persistent cookie policy notices! Heck, even many technical books include legal notices to indemnify the publisher and author from any legal action that may be brought against them due to someones interpretation of instructions in said book! It really is a minefield, but I'm inclined to think they're just covering their backs, especially in this culture of litigation that we live in.

I am guilty of not reading these things, myself. The warranty is pretty standard stuff, but I don't want users to be surprised if they are using different tools. Or selling their crafts! Honestly, though, I've never heard of a case where Silhouette didn't help in every way they could. They do stand behind their products. But it is very important to have these legal documents in place to protect the company.

@silhouettesuccess Yes, I agree absolutely. It's interesting that it doesn't apply if you're using it to sell items. Although, having said that, I guess they deem it to be a business use case. And, understandably, don't want to be held liable for loss of earnings, etc.

The big question for me is if the Machine is purchased in the UK. Will it have to be sent to the US for any Warranty issues??

@@stuart-hayes I can confirm that in the UK you don't have to send it to the US, but instead return it to Wrexham. Also, I was told by GraphtecGB that in the UK they have a 2 year return to base warranty. Unfortunately, I've just had to send mine in for repair/replacement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get it back in time for making my Christmas cards! 🤞

GraphtecGB were brilliant when I needed help with my Cameo 4plus. I had my machine over 2 years I wasn’t sure if it was something I was doing wrong. I paid for shipping to them but they returned it at no cost and sorted the problem and added bonus told me I had a 3 years guarantee when I purchased from them I had no idea. I have always purchased all my machines and blades through them and will continue to do so. I have also had the tech team phone me in the past when I had some issues with software and operation. I honestly think they are a great company. Good luck with your repair 😊

Do not expect any of these companies Cricut or Silhouette to honor their warranty. It is a limited waranty at best. The upside is these machines last forever. They might honor it if when you received it, it just did not work. After that good luck.

@@CAROLYNSCILLEY That hasn't been my experience. I was told by GraphtecGB that in the UK they have a 2 year return to base warranty. I've just had to return my Cameo 5 for repair after just over 12 months and they've been very helpful.

In the US the warranty is 1 year limited warranty.
