I'm only 7 minutes in but I need to validate your Starbucks experience. I love the iced brown sugar shaken espresso too and have been confused as to why it's different every time I order it. I felt very similar to you about All Systems Red - I expected to adore it and it was just fine and enjoyable. But it seemed like it had a lot of potential (and it was one of the few books my fiancé and I can agree on to listen to in the car) so we continued, and I ended up totally falling in love with the series. You get to know everyone much better over time, and they're very funny, charming, and feel-good but with lots of killing. And the audiobook narrator is FANTASTIC. I'd encourage you to continue picking them up on audio every now and then and see if they grow on you. Or maybe they're just not for you. I also just finished How High We Go in the Dark and LOVED it! What an unusual, moving book! Thank you for the rec!
