I pitched it to my wife as "think Princess Bride.". I just read it myself and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will say it is more romance compared to the storybook that is Princess Bride. Spoilers- It took me a bit to work out the parallel characters and the group dynamics. I was pleasantly surprised with that group because it very much paralleled a group I made for a DnD campaign.

Central Pennsylvania has a large community of religious (and religious-adjacent) readers who enjoy flirtatious romantic fiction that doesn't get too spicy. As that's not a high-priority genre for most publishers, the readers heavily rely on each other for recommendations. If one enjoys it, a hundred will give it a try. Your sense of humor probably plays well in that market. Also, they love a good sword fight.

From my bookseller youth days, if a book gets enough orders and visibility, it starts showing up on lists of trending books that chain stores get, and book buyers for those stores take notice. Also, if you ever were to, say, sign copies at a store, that can increase the chances the book will be replenished when it sells. Just a thought. Pennsylvanian here, from Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania has one of the stronger and better funded groups of public libraries, with a lot of cooperation between libraries in the same county. It’s likely there has been a lot of institutional purchases. Doing a quick check of the Carnegie Library / Allegheny County system, there are five copies of your book circulating around, held in different libraries. One of them is actually at the library I usually go to, plus one in the main Carnegie Library and a few of the other libraries in the area. There’s a robust system of holds and inter-library lending, meaning anyone wanting to get your book just has to put in a request and it can be at their library of choice in a day or two assuming there are no other holds ahead of them. I think the Philly system will be similar, etc. It’s probably not just bookshops but all of those library systems, since they might buy 1-10 copies to cover the county.

Reading it now in bits via Amazon. You are a good writer. Pleasantly impressed.

My local independent book store has multiple copies on the shelves, as of last week. (I bought mine from there too back in February). In Alexandria, Virginia.

I saw one Copy of your Book in my local town's library in Germany. An employee told me, that she liked your KZbin shorts and wanted the book to get more popularity

Certainly, Jill! As mentioned, I am packing cheese and chocolate for the journey. Good excuse to get out and about this week! Also a good excuse for exercise, as I generally run/jog/walk most places. I shall report back by week's end.

The Saint Paul MN library system has 5 e-copies and 48 folks in the wait list (including me)

Our local library system near Minneapolis, Minnesota has 5 epub copies all currently on loan and each copy has 10 people waiting to read it. I am going to check if the library has any physical copies and look around at local bookstores as well.

I have not seen any copies of your book here in the Netherlands, other than my own. But I am busy with moving and my TBR is already overflowing, so it's been a while since I got to really browse the bookstores. I'll keep an eye out when I do go back!

Your book was at my local library, but I ordered a copy from my local bookstore to support both you and them :)

I haven't physically checked them, because they are currently closed, but according to the website, three of the Indigo Books in Ottawa, Canada have two copies each in stock.

I went to go recommend it to my local library in Oklahoma, (I've mentioned this before in comments this is not new) only to discover that my library already had copies. I think the librarians are fans.

Pennsylvania has a population of 13 million, it's the fifth biggest state in the US, so it isn't that surprising that it is high up the list. I'd be more freaked out if Rhode Island topped it!

i’m a PA buyer!! love the book. that’s really funny that we’re so high up on the list :)

I’ve seen a few in assorted local book stores, in Perth, Western Australia. And hopefully requesting it at my local library next time I’m there, they normally approve of book requests to add to the state collection!

It is in the "science fiction bokhandeln" chain in Sweden. They are the nr one geeky, nerdy bookshops here with shops in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. (And a great webshop)

I saw your book again! Last time in Sweden where I brought it and today a stack of them in Copenhagen airport in Denmark.

I assume that you mean PA have ordered the most physical copies? Back in the day, our websites would have a disproportionate number of visitors from PA, turned out all the AOL discs that got given out with cheap internet connections routed everything (including UK traffic) through servers in PA...

I bought one of the books from my local bookstore in Ontario (Canada). I hadn't asked them to order it in, but when I went to look for a physical copy they had already ordered some. I don't know if someone else asked them for it, however 👍

I had to order my copy in Minnesota, but I had a 15 minute conversation with the employee who put the order in about the book, and they thought it sounded hilarious. So maybe a few copies will make it into the local Barnes and Nobles out this way.

I live in Pennsylvania and yes I have bought a copy of the book from my local bookstore. Though I have recommended it to my peers, I have yet to see a display of your book in my local shops. Guess I have to go back to all the stores and look for research purposes.

The answer to the mystery of Pennsylvania is that it’s not about the total number of book sales but it’s about all the friends we stabbed along the way to the checkout
