My wife and I visited the Aspen Loop Trail near Snowbowl in October 2020 as well. We went up there for our anniversary also (9 years) though we stayed in Flagstaff that trip. It is one of our favorite places in Arizona.

Luna is so stinking cute! My husband and I were in Flagstaff in September, so too early for the aspens but all the ferns on the ground were golden. I assume the place you were originally talking about going is Lockett's Meadow? If so, it is absolutely beautiful because it goes to the inner basin of the San Francisco peaks. Great hike. However, I do love the area you went to and it tends to be a go-to each time we're up there. Another favorite place is Hart's Prairie which is at the bottom of the mountain you were looking down, just further down the road you were on.

If you go to Flagstaff again there is a great breakfast place called MartAnnes that’s amazing and the Lumberyard’s Mac and cheese balls are to die for 😊

I miss Flagstaff and Sedona so much this time of year. I lived there for three years. Tucson never changes. I miss the cold air. Next time you are up there you should visit Potion Tea & Bakery south of the tracks. Seems like something you two might enjoy. She will concoct you a tea depending on your mood. I used to grab a potion and then go to Buffalo Park go read a few chapters. - I just purchased Senlin Ascends. Going to start it after I finish The Black Prism!

Sedona is the best, we go there a few times a year. We actually stayed in that same room at the Oak Creek Terrace Resort, lovely place. Happy Anniversary!

I remember visiting Sedona 10 years ago and really loved it, was a completely unplanned trip but was amazing! I would love to go there again in the future, but can't really think much of travel now with the pandemic putting us on full lockdown here in Belgium :( Stay safe!

This may sound silly, but from the way you've talking about not having fall and me never traveling to the Southwest, I was expecting to see mostly cacti and desert. That park was beautiful and I'm glad you guys were able to enjoy it. Hope you're feeling better.

I miss those areas of Arizona! When we lived in Phoenix, we went north as often as possible to get away from the city! Seriously considered moving to Flagstaff before deciding on Wyoming. We love the red rocks and mountains. If we ever end up in Arizona again, it’ll be in the northern part of the state (or in the pines)!

I feel ya on the getting stuck behind slow trucks and bikes. My family lives in the mountains in Kentucky and very often driving there we would get stuck behind coal trucks who also drive quite slow on the small narrow roads.

The highs were around 80s/70s, but it dips a lot in the evenings and mornings. It gets MUCH colder though :)
