I think it is awesome that one of the first conversations that you had with her was about books. Very cool.

I somehow feel like Raff is the invisible booktuber. With great taste, I've read or am planning to read every book on that list and now you (both) have bumped Still Life up on top of my TBR.

I just finished Still Life this morning and it's a new all time favourite for me! I did cry!
@goster40702 жыл бұрын
Managed to catch Great Circle from your recommendations. I finished it in 5 days and gave it 4 stars. Phew, that was A LOT of book to get through and I can't believe the original manuscript was 1,000 pages long and was brought down to 600. Still a lot of story left. While Marian was a bit of a special character (emotionally), loved the other side of the romance you are referring to, and the relationships there. Loved her long-term thing, and I felt her losses, especially toward the end. Liked the ending very much. Thank you for yet another lovely video, and hope to catch you again soon. Keep up the good work, you are a pleasure to listen to and watch. Bye!

Welp. It’s official. Your GF does rec the best books. Great Circle is one of my favorites and I read The Paper Palace based on one of your other videos and loved it. And now I have another 6 of the 8 remaining on my TBR.

I've started Great Circle from hearing it in this video and I'm really enjoying it so far! I'll definitely be checking out your other videos for more recs 🙂

A book I loved that has a somewhat similar structure to Trust is Trust Exercise by Susan Choi - it's in three parts, and each part gives you a different perspective on/more questions what's happened than the previous. I read it several years ago and it's really stuck with me!
@DrinkingByMyShelf2 жыл бұрын
I read that one too! It was definitely such a clever structure but such an odd book - I remember saying in some video somewhere that I couldn't decide whether to rate it one or five stars!
@pettyella66072 жыл бұрын
i would suggest a part 2 of the video where you compare storygraph's, subscribers' and the subscription thingie's recommendations but adding raph now, but it is kinda hard to compete with raph lol. happy for u tho, not only a loving gf but a great recommendation service too!

Wait, The Paper Palace, who does she pick? Peter or Jonas? Sounds like Raf needs to start some kind of personalise book sommelier business.

Loved Great Circle, after having a failed first attempt a while back. Do you find that? sometimes you pick up a book and it isn't the right time, but a year later you absolutely love it.
@DrinkingByMyShelf2 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! And then sometimes vice versa - I might LOVE a book if I read it at the perfect time, but if I try to revisit it later it won't have the same magic.

@@DrinkingByMyShelf It is a good and interesting read. A bit different in format than other auto-biographical books I've read. 😊
