Maybe that’s part of her being a death-being or whatever she is? idk i just thought that was a pretty heavy subject that got kind of brushed over real lightly in this book 😂 Ps Death gives me the absolute creeps. Not a fan. I just want a book about Blythe.

About her guilt I think it has to do with her being a "death-being" but maybe she will feel the guilt later, maybe the more people die because of her choices! Idk but I'm really excited for the sequel. And Death gives me the creeps too lol

i think maybe she’s just desensitized to death ,, both like dying and Death the character. also weird that Death has just groomed her? it’s been a second since I read it but doesn’t he say something along the line that he’s been waiting for their relationship since she was a baby and that’s Weird ,, hope she becomes the new Death

I think it's cause she is just done with the idea of death/dying by that point and has 0 fs to give. I think the whole reason why people kept pointing her out as weird is that she would internally be trying to follow this etiquette book then mess it up in some way and people would be like, she is so weird?? and then by the end again with the 0fs lol. If you are ever up for a YA/NA (technically in college/uni) fantasy with a very intricate magic system and excellent found family trope + chosen one, give The Awakening of Ren Crown a go.

Same, I liked that but I was definitely not a fan of the romance. I'm sorry but not them knowing each other for a month, not knowing ANYTHING about each other and her having her empowerment moment where she chooses to give her 'virtue' to the thousand-year-old man she's known for a hot minute to make it her 'choice' just after he's told her he's been waiting FOREVER to meet her and now that she is 19 he can. didn't sit right sorry for the rant.

I grew up in PA and have been living abroad for the last year. Seeing the trees and the deer, the lake and the bit where you were driving, reminds me so much of home it almost made me cry. The nostalgia of all the houses decorated for Halloween really hit me too. There's just something in the air that time of year. I was really surprised by that in a way. It mentioned it earlier in the book before she went to Thorn Grove, I think or when she got there. Then later on. Maybe it plays more of a role in the next book? It would be interesting to see how it continues for that.

Yea it was pretty uncomfy reading Death and Signa’s relationship bc he’s literally immortal and like, waited for her to get older so they could get together?!! Yea I was also really surprised when she just doomed the old man to die and didn’t think much about it at all

I loved Belladonna and agree that the ending is intriguing to continue the series. (I didn't know it was going to continue.) Another book I would recommend is One Dark Window. I really enjoyed it and it's great for reading this time of year.

dozens of people won't tell you to read it and it's not popular on booktok but if you want to read a criminally underrated YA book i MUST implore you to read Little Thieves if its not already on your radar. grimm fairytale retelling (from a 'villians' perspective), perfect to read in winter, hiliarious, kind of insane (?) in a great way, such endearing characters, etc. came out last year and it became an all time fave. i know youre not in the habit of reading uncompleted series but the sequel comes out in may! ok recommendation over, loved your reading vlog!

We are planning a trip to Japan but not until 2024. Me and my son are into Anime so that is one of the things we are going to see along with other things. If you have not read or watched A Silent Voice, I recommend. Both my daughter and son are into Pokémon too which my daughter probably more excited about trying the different food like ramen. They also like roller coaster and Japan has some pretty neat ones so we are going to try and hit up an amusement park(Fugi Q) too while we are there. I enjoy listening to you talk about the books you read, and I will follow along on your Japan trip.

Ugh...I have such a love/hate relationship with Belladonna. On one hand I really liked it and on the other I didn't like the undertones of "grooming" the story brings to the table. The setting/time period is beautifully done but I also didn't think it needed a sequel. Once again asking you to read One Dark Window! I just love Elspeth and Raven so much 🥺

I had the same thoughts on Belladonna. It took me 3 or 4 days to finish because I wasn't sucked in. The (spoiler) love interest(s) being Death seemed weird to me - I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the age difference, since it's even worse than in FBAA. That Death twist was so obvious it just didn't wow me.
