I don’t know anything about Ali Hazelwood besides what I’ve heard booktubers say, but her turning her hand to fantasy and choosing the most cliched tropes of all time fits my idea of her MO perfectly 😂 and you know what, write what you love I support it!

I'm not a BookTok person, but they do have BookTok sections in bookstores now and I saw this on a table labeled as such in B&N. I actually enjoyed this, honestly as others have said, write what you know, and what you like and people who like the same things will come to you... honestly, I'll read almost anything, and if it makes me feel strong emotions, like supper sad, happy, or just makes me laugh out loud then I'm all in.

on a whole different werewolf tangent: if you want a heart-warming but gut-wrenching fantasy of romance and growth into motherhood, the Japanese anime movie "Wolf Children (おおかみこどもの雨と雪, Ōkami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki" by director Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Summer Wars (2009)) is SO GOOD

I honestly really enjoyed Bride. I started Check & Mate and I hated every second of it, her writing style and the characters and everything. But I'm a sucker for vampire stuff and I was pleasantly surprised by how different this book read. Not a masterpiece in any way but a fun time and I kinda hope Ali writes more fantasy! I didn't need the Omega Verse thrown in there but that's the risk when reading about werewolves 😅

the kids that grew up reading and writing fanfic are livinggg right now 😂 knotting is barely the tip of the iceberg y'all (pun intended). the omegaverse is popular on AO3/wattpad/etc. because it addresses so much more than sex-complex pack and societal hierarchies, the dichotomy of masculine (alpha) and feminine (omega), the struggles of having an inner wolf (kinda like having a strong gut instinct as a human), their relationship to nature/the earth/them moon, their relationship to magic, and so much more. unlike what the general public would like to believe, it's not ALL porn. so yeah, personally I'm glad fic elements like this are trickling into the mainstream. especially since I've read several traditionally published werewolf books over the past year and their wolf lore was awful... like, "I'm an alpha so I'm toxic masculinity personified and out of control, but it doesn't matter cause I'm hot" kinda awful. they definitely could've benefitted from some omegaverse research...

It’s contemporary romance (I guess) but the love story is told backwards. 5 out of 5 for me personally, and I don’t usually enjoy contemporary romance. If not I highly recommend it! She has another book coming out this year I believe called Better By Far. I’d love to hear your thoughts about it is you’re interested in reading it!

An ARC is an Advanced Reader Copy. It is a copy that is sent out by the publisher before the book is fully complete, and published for sale to get reviews. Do y'all think Cari knows the majority of Ali Hazelwood's works are Reylo fanfiction? I was super excited to read her books because of the STEM representation, but pretty quickly into the Love Hypothesis it was abundantly clear to me as a bio student that she has no idea what scientific research is like. Doesn't mean people can't enjoy her writing, I bet you wouldn't even notice unless you were actually in the field! I just know it was difficult for me to get into her other books once I recognised that, I was just constantly wondering how inaccurate other things were.
