This video was so relatable. As a reader, I share the same need to understand the text I am reading in totality in order to fully immerse myself into the plot that the author is trying to convey. However, my fav author Toni Morrison is another fluffy writer that will add tons of big words that can sometimes take me out of the text. I myself have honestly wanted to DNF plenty of her novels but the overall plot always keeps me to the very end and the endings are always jaw-dropping.

i dnf not in love at like the 50% mark and i was struggling 😭 i think the main reason for me is because im so used to her other romance novels that are more light hearted and have good banter but this one just seemed so forced? the main characters didn’t have chemistry at all and i didnt find it to be a relatable romance. i love ali though and i think her other books are so good, ill just skip her erotica releases 🫡 adding summer romance to my tbr!!

Yea she’s trying out new story lines so it makes sense you feel that Bride and Not In Love feel similar in writing. Bride is her trying out the paranormal genre. Not In Love is her testing out erotica (though in my opinion it doesn’t feel like erotica) and Deep End will be trying out a sports romance for the first time.
