So many questions, so many answers that will be held back. Rafo. I've read the series too many times. RJ was a master as piecing together all the threads, and foreshadowing. He leaves few things mentioned but unused in the future. Enjoy the journey. The pace of reading you outline is very reasonable. You can read New Spring after book 5, should you wish. It will add more background for Morraine, Lan, and a few minor characters, as well as expound on some motivations.

@@NevsBookChannel Events in book 5 will make it more relevant to be read directly afterwards, but there is no harm in reading it later, obviously. It adds background as described but is not an action packed book.

Ok, no spoilers. But far more is revealed and foreshadowed in the first book than could possible realize. Once you've completed the series this is worth going back and rereading again to see all of the things that you missed the first time.

Just watched your EotW video and this one, and you've gained a new subscriber! I like your chill attitude and analysis, and the way you share your thoughts. I've read the whole series, (love it a lot) and I thought season 1 of the show was decent and season 2 is good getting great so far (having watched through episode 5 as I type this) -- it has the potential to be amazing in the last few episodes Really glad you're enjoying the books, they're really something special!! And weirdly, your little map review was super cool too! I've never seen anyone do that, but it was a great little analysis. Keep it up!!

not spoiling anything, but in regards of names. There are way over 1000 named characters throughout the series, so even if the names were really different, it's still impossible to keep up with all of them. So a spreadsheet is a really good idea. Especially since googling it can be dangerous because of some spoilers in wiki's an so on.

I love your journey with the books. I hope you continue reading them after the second season and not wait, as it seems like they are condensing books into seasons and mixing some things from the prequel also (which you should not read until after the series has ended - in my opinion). I also take Sanderson's stand that the show is just another turning of the wheel, and I enjoy it very much. The wheel of time is my favourite book series and I enjoy reading it anew with the show.

@@NevsBookChannel I took Daniel Green's recommendation and waited with it (he said not to read it before finishing book 5) - I ended up waiting the whole series, as when each book ended, I just immediately wanted to jump to the next one in the series, but I'm glad I did for 2 reasons. 1 - Jordan himself wrote it towards the end of his life, meaning even though it comes before the events of _The Eye of The World_ it benefited from having most of the story essentially written (in my opinion). Secondly, because Robert Jordan never got to finish the series, the last 3 books were completed by Brandon Sanderson, and even though he is one of my favorite authors, especially towards the end, I could feel his "energy" in the story. I think he did a phenomenal job with the series and I came out of the book fully satisfied with the ending, but I craved more - so having this, rather short story (it is significantly shorter than Jordan's other Wheel of Time books), which was fully Jordan's felt very satisfying, and because the Wheel has no beginnings and no end - also very fitting in my opinion 😉

the show being "just another turning of the wheel" is the TV crew, saying we want to do whatever we want and the source material be damned, and a copout for being outright bastards....in the words of the book "i win again Lews Therin" because that is basically what they are doing

Sanderson's interpretation is very generous. I think I'll adopt it.
@JamesLorimor
@JamesLorimor 9 ай бұрын
The problem I have with that interpretation is that Jordan specifically said that Padan Fain was unique to this turning of the wheel. If they're doing a different turning, change the character names. Birgette remembers her previous lives and they all had different names. She wasn't always Birgette.

the show and the book are their own things. the TV show has made many changes from the book. Many Characters from the book are missing. others have been added, so I don't think it matters if you read ahead cause it will be somewhat different. season 1 of the show was done during the lockdown, so I have to give season 1 a pass for that and im putting more weight behind season 2. @@NevsBookChannel I'm halfway through my umteenth reread of EoTW. Apart from the epigraph: "let the promised one be born again", "let the dragon ride again", there is no discussion of the dragon reborn as a thing. If we go into the book cold with no lore exposure or having watched the show, know that the dragon is to be feared etc. But we don't really know that it's a thing and connected to Rand. We retrospectively read this into the book but all we know is that the dark one wants one of these boys and we know that it's Rand. Not even Moiraine who had reason to suspect made it known until the epilogue.

Amazons Wheel of Time is a bad show on its on merits, over acting, bad directing, bad story telling, inconsistent logic. As a wheel of time adaptation it so horrendous that everyone in the writers room and show runners should never get hired again (hopefully the writers strike helps with that). the only people that like the show either never read the books, hate the books, or are youtubers that get paid directly or indirectly by Amazon.
