The script for the CW's pilot of the Powerpuff Girls Reboot (supposedly) leaked yesterday so I figured it'd be a good idea to go ahead and stream my live reaction to it.
I do want to note that it's possible this script is fake seeing as I haven't seen an official confirmation on whether or not it's real. Just by the few screenshots I've seen though, I hope it's fake.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
===========================
Q: Why do you keep ignoring my questions?
A: I apologize in advance, but I can't read every single comment that appears in the chat. When there's more than 20 people talking to me at once, AND I'm playing a video game at the same time, it becomes difficult to respond to everybody. I'm not purposefully ignoring you, so try asking your question a few times. If I still don't answer after the 4th or 5th time, it's safe to assume I'm not comfortable answering the question you are asking, so try asking a different one instead.
If I notice you're complaining about me ignoring you, not only does that make you look bad from my perspective, but you've also just missed an opportunity where I could have answered that question you were asking because I actually saw what you had to say. Please, don't complain that I haven't seen your questions, I promise I'm not doing it on purpose. The first time I catch you will be a warning; the second time you will be banned.
Q: When do you stream?
A: Current Schedule it TBD
Q: How long do you stream for?
A: I honestly have no idea, it really just depends on how long I feel like going for. Most of the time it ranges between 1 and 3 hours.
Q: Do you save the streams?
A: Yes, I keep them in an unlisted playlist on my channel!
Q: When's the next review coming out?
A: I try to upload on Fridays at 3:00pm EST, although this is subject to change and some videos may be uploaded randomly at times.
Q: What's your logo supposed to be?
A: It's a six sided ruler. Not a ninja star. Not a fidget spinner. Not the Mitsubishi logo. A six sided ruler.
Q: What's your favorite Pokemon & Type? (I get this a lot during Pokemon streams lol)
A: Umbreon, with Dark types being my favorite type (followed by Fire, Psychic, and Electric).
Q: Favorite PPG?
A: Buttercup (OG) and None (Reboot)
Q: Favorite PPG episode?
A: The Powerpuff Girls Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever.

@S'arah Triel The opposite actually. It’s corporatism. These companies serve only to make money, and that’s the opposite of Marxism, which is very anti private corporation. Believe it or not not everything bad is because of Marxism. Often there’s no shady conspiracy, it’s just amoral corporate greed that mindlessly chases what it thinks will lead to more profit. Also Marvel has been doing good outside of Captain Marvel and Star Wars pulled itself together after the sequels from the looks of it because people like the TV stuff. But yes, media has been stagnating for years. Because corporations want money to please their shareholders and line their pockets. It’s that simple. And even in officially Communist countries like China, heroes are super common in media, and not all of them are nationalist. In fact some of the most popular movies and stories over there are stories about overpowered heroes, other heroic fantasy, adaptations of old heroic epics and stories like Mulan or Journey to the West, etc.

@Schoolgirl325

Yep. I’m not a lesbian, but these writers aren’t actually doing any favors for the diversity they added in the cast here. In other words, they don’t really care about the LGBTQ community, or racial acceptance, or ethnic diversity at all. They just added in those things for tokenism to try to appear more “woke,” not because they actually care about any of those communities, or have any non-stereotypical views of them. Granted, there is nothing wrong with a tomboy being a lesbian, but why do they always have to be tomboys in media? They can be girly too. It’s not like this unheard of thing in real life. Also, Buttercup’s not even a positive representation of a lesbian in this CW version. She cheats on every woman she sleeps with, and preys on bi-curious women. It sounds like they went for the negative gay stereotype of the predatory and unfaithful lesbian for her character. They’ve also created racist stereotypes with the casting, too. In the original classic PPG cartoon, generally speaking, aside from a FEW OOC instances, Professor Utonium was a very attentive, caring, kind, protective, reasonably strict, and selfless father to Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. He NEVER purposely created them with superpowers, forced them to be superheroes, or exploited them for profit, and he tried harder than any other adult in the cartoon to make sure his kids had happy and normal childhoods. He could occasionally be cheesy, dorky, naive, and overprotective, but he meant well, and he learned to ease up on his kids. In the CW reboot, they cast the African American actor Donald Faison to portray Professor Utonium. Granted, this isn’t the problem in and of itself. It’s what the writers did to ruin Professor Utonium’s character by turning him into a very controlling, greedy, narcissistic, opportunistic, and shallow deadbeat dad to the girls, who purposely created them with superpowers for fame and fortune, and then forced them to be superheroes, so he could exploit them for money. The writers are perpetrating the negative racist stereotype of the “shitty black dad” in the CW version by casting a black actor to portray him, and then rewriting Professor Utonium’s character to completely suck as a dad and a boyfriend here. Buttercup, “the toughest fighter,” is played by the only actress of the girls with dark skin, Yana Perrault in the CW version. The writers are perpetuating the negative stereotype of the “angry and/or aggressive black girl.”

@Schoolgirl325
@Schoolgirl325 3 жыл бұрын
Professor Utonium had a FEW OOC instances of neglectful and/or idiot ball parenting in some episodes that threw away his otherwise intelligent and/or sympathetic characterization for certain plots, twists, and storylines in the classic cartoon that didn’t always make sense, such as in “Moral Decay,” “Keen on Keane,” “Daylight Savings,” “A Very Special Blossom,” and “Coupe d’etat. He could be rather *naive* on a few occasions, such as in “Mommy Fearest” and “Town ‘n’ Out.” *Usually,* those *moments* were redeemable at the end of those episodes, though, because he would realize he messed up, misunderstood, or failed his kids in some way at the end, then feel guilty, and make it right. Thankfully, “Moral Decay” is NEVER mentioned or referenced in the series EVER again, and things go back to normal, because, if there ever was one episode in which the writing of the Utoniums as a family was too discomforting for me to justify, then it’s that one. However, in the 2002 movie and in *most episodes* of the classic cartoon, Professor Utonium was a very attentive, caring, doting, kind, protective, selfless, and wise good father to his three kids. He was proud of his girls for the fact that they chose to risk their lives to save him and their city, and he encouraged them when they didn’t believe in themselves as heroes because he was generally a pretty good dad, but he *NEVER* forced them to be superheroes. That was his girls’ choice, not his. Professor Utonium treated Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as *normal* little girls, who were worthy of having *normal lives,* rather than invincible heroes, products, or experiments *more than any other adult* in the classic cartoon series, and he *never exploited them* for profit, or forced them to be anyone other than exactly who they were. Professor Utonium accepted that the girls accidentally got superpowers because he loved them just the way they were, and they made life more interesting for him. However, he didn’t purposely set out to give them superpowers. In the classic cartoon, Professor Utonium usually gave the girls strong emotional support, good advice, and/or taught them valuable lessons when they needed it most of the time in “Boogie Frights,” “The Mane Event,” “Ploys R’ Us,” “Beat Your Greens,” “Bubblevision,” “Meet The Beat Alls,” “Members Only,” “Not So Awesome Blossom,” and “Helter Shelter.” He built a giant fighting robot to keep them safe in “Uh Oh, Dynamo,” and he built a super suit to hang out with them when they kept getting busy saving the day because he wanted to spend more time with them, and because he wanted for them to be able to have their dad to protect them in “PowerProf.” In the classic PPG cartoon, Professor Utonium held a birthday party for the girls in “Birthday Bash.” He let them have a slumber party with their friends in “Slumbering With The Enemy.” He did everything to save them when he saw they were being hurt or in danger, even if it meant risking his life or sacrificing himself to keep them safe at times in episodes like “Uh Oh, Dynamo,” “Collect Her,” “Film Flam,” “PowerProf,” and “Knock It Off.” In the classic cartoon, Professor Utonium pretended to like Citysville because he misguidedly believed the girls would be happier living more normal lives outside of Townsville in a city with a lower crime rate in “Town ‘n’ Out,” even though he hated it. He made his three kids all of their own cakes for a surprise party to celebrate them in “Little Miss Interprets.” He let the girls take time off when they wanted to play with their new friend when the Mayor called them for help opening his pickle jar in the episode “Super Friends” because he wanted for them to have the chance to be *normal* little kids and have fun. He took the girls on family trips and grocery shopping together whenever they were free, and he wanted for them to relax at times, rather than constantly worrying about crime fighting in episodes like “Roughing It Up,” “Supper Villain,” “Just Desserts,” “Uh Oh, Dynamo,” “PowerProf,” and “Mommy Fearest.” Even in that awful episode “Sun Scream,” Professor Utonium was looking out for his three kids well-being on a trip to the beach with them by telling them not to forget to wear sun screen, and then freaked out when he saw that they were hurt so badly that they were unable to move after getting sunburned. He doted on all three of the girls, and always saw them as his “little angels” and his “babies,” even though they were far from the “perfect little girls.” He bought them gifts, video games, and toys in the 2002 prequel movie, “Ploys R Us,” “Birthday Bash,” and “Little Miss Interprets.” He built them the perfect pet that only needed to be fed once, but also thought to build in a failsafe to keep them safe in case they overfed Beebo in “Pet Feud.” He generally was pretty reasonably strict when he disciplined them in episodes like “Octi Evil,” “Helter Shelter,” and “Beat Your Greens.” He took a break from work when he was busy at one point to play with them for a bit to make Bubbles happy when he saw she was sad in “The PowerPuff Girls: Best Rainy Day Adventure” about neither of her sisters wanting to be her when they were playing. He wanted for the girls to get a good education, and to do well in school. The classic PPG episode, “Film Flam” is actually a pretty good example of how much Professor Utonium was the ANTITHESIS of a narcissistic and shallow stage parent. He was actually pretty *uneasy* about signing off his little girls to be in a movie with the offer from the “director” Bernie Bernstein. He went along with it at first by signing the contract because he saw how much his kids wanted to do it, and he wanted for them to be happy because they were his kids and he loved them. However, as soon as he saw Bernie Bernstein yelling at Bubbles and grabbing her jaw harshly for pointing out the truth, Professor Utonium got pissed off, and he went down to the set to save his three little angels from the fraud. Yeah, Professor Utonium could be overprotective of them at times, particularly within the first three seasons, but he meant well, and he learned to ease up on them over time. He took care of the girls, protected them, and worried about their safety because he loved Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as *his daughters.* It was *never* because they made him famous or wealthy by using their superpowers to save him and the city. While Professor Utonium was proud of them for being brave and selfless enough to use their superpowers to save the day, he was also shown to be pretty terrified and uneasy about the girls fighting monsters, criminals, and villains on a few occasions because he also knew that, while the risk was generally *minimal* to nonexistent with their superpowers to protect them, there still *was occasionally* a *risk* involved of their lives in them saving the day. If any of the girls were ever to die in battle, or get seriously hurt in a debilitating way, the Professor Utonium from the classic cartoon wouldn’t miss Blossom, Bubbles, and/or Buttercup or fear for their well-being because of them making him famous and rich by being superheroes. He would miss them because they were *his daughters* with brave,caring, cute, kind, feisty, funny, intelligent, protective, and selfless hearts. He didn’t view them as products to show off to people or mass-market. He never forced them to be superheroes, though he did encourage them to go fight when he noticed they weren’t because they felt insecure, sad, and defeated. THIS version of Professor Utonium in the CW seems to see Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as PRODUCTS to market, to show off to the media, and to make money off of by calling up the press on them, and pressuring them to use their superpowers to save the day in Townsville again to make him famous, rather than genuinely wanting to do good in the world, or loving the girls as his children. He’s more like Professor Dick Hardly in this version, who Professor Utonium immediately DUMPED as his “old buddy” for wanting to make artificial superhuman children to mass market to people for crime fighting in the classic episode “Knock It Off.” In the OG cartoon what made it even more meaningful and sweet when the girls called Professor Utonium “dad” or “daddy” was that it was generally a pretty rare occurrence that came up in little moments here and there to remind the audience just how much the girls saw him as their father. Bubbles called Professor Utonium “dad” the first time after he bought her her first gift after she and her sisters were born to thank him. Buttercup called him “Daddy-o” once in the movie when he came to talk to them for the first time as a parent in the movie about being careful not to use their superpowers in public. They all referred to him as “dad” when Major Glory asked them about who did everything around the house in “Members Only.” Bubbles called Professor Utonium “dad” when she, Blossom, and Buttercup were all convinced that he wanted to get rid of them in “Little Miss Interprets,” and wanted to change his mind. I wouldn’t normally have a huge problem with the girls calling Professor Utonium “dad” or “daddy” in and of itself, but in *this* version it just feels *wrong* because THIS Professor is a TERRIBLE parent, who doesn’t even *deserve* that title here. Also, it’s just downright *creepy* that the girls, particularly *Bubbles,* are talking about their dad’s sex life in detail...Just WHY did the writers of this have to taint the purity of the girls and the Professor’s father/daughter bonds with creepy incest subtext? WHY? Fuck the writers of this show!

@@valeriemoody5740 I just watched part 2 of the livestream. It’s even worse what they have done to Professor Utonium. Not only does this version of Professor Utonium suck as a parent for exploiting his kids for fame and fortune, but it’s implied at the ending of the script that he’s likely responsible for the monsters that are terrorizing the city in his desperation to make his kids superheroes for fame and glory again. I mean, he’s got to feel guilty about something at the end there. Also, it’s not like this would be the first time he deliberately risked his kids lives in this version to force them to be superheroes. Buttercup called him out for setting a monster gopher free for her and sister to stop, which almost killed them, so that he could be famous, and this version of Utonium actually had the gall to defend himself by saying “Sweetheart, that was ONE time, and we were in a ratings hole.” They’ve seriously turned this version of Professor Utonium into Professor Dick Hardly from the classic cartoon episode “Knock It Off,” even though the whole point was that he was supposed to be a despicable foil to Professor Utonium, who only cared about creating artificial human children with superpowers to mass market as crime fighting PRODUCTS for money, whereas Professor Utonium genuinely loved Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup for who they were, and treated them as his DAUGHTERS.

@@gotmog22 Yeah, they’ve actually created a negative stereotype by making Professor Utonium a shitty father to the girls in this version where he’s being played by an African American actor. Like, it’s already bad enough that they destroyed Professor Utonium’s character by making him an all around shitty father to the girls, who basically treats them like glorified products to control and market, rather than his daughters, but they also are invoking the negative stereotype that “all black men are bad fathers” by making him be a shitty dad to the girls when he is being played by a black actor, which is even worse.

@@carsfan1995 as a woman, stop derailing the conversation. Man of Steel is the prime example of the “dark gritty realism trope. Quicksilver is likable, no one in universe feels strongly towards him and he has lost several fights when it mattered most. He’s cool when he needs to be but at the end of the day Apocalypse breaks his leg and he can’t do anything. He’s not a Mary Sue because a Mary Sue would beat Apocalypse. Quicksilver is just powerful but he’s not the strongest as a Mary Sue would be. Mary Sues are men and women, why do you think people hate SAO where the main character is a womanizer and the most powerful player in the game? And do you know why people know he saved thirty people? Because they watched it several times. What line can you give me from Rei? What moment defined her for you? I can’t name one because she felt boring to me. Do not get mad at a likable (albeit he is not well written) character and try to drag him down because the male writers for Rei never bothered asking a woman for any opinions on how to make Rei. Flynn Rider is a prime example of what we need to start doing. Disney made a poll for the best traits women saw in a man for the movie tangled. As a result everyone loves him. So let’s start asking women who they want to see, be it their coworker or their mothers or their friends. I’d also like to point out Rapunzel is one of my favorite Disney princesses along with Mulan. Because she’s fun. She has a personality. Mulan has a personality and given her situation it’s understandable that she doesn’t crack jokes but she never falls into the dark gritty realism trope. She always has hope and she never goes off on spiels about how if only she weren’t a woman. She just pulls herself up and gets shit done. What studios need to realize is that no one likes hanging around edge lords who make half baked quotes on morality to show they have thoughts. I like those characters who don’t even need to talk for you to know their thoughts. I’m not saying every character should be happy, I’m just saying it should make sense and they should never become assholes because of it if you want them to be liked.

@@carsfan1995 you like Rey out of spite even though you’ve never watched Star Wars? And you only know about the quicksilver scene from a secondhand account? No wonder you’re confused you are exclusively using examples you haven’t educated yourself in. But let me break it down. First off men do in fact get ripped on for being a Mary Sue, the general term is Gary Stu. But the term originated from a character named Mary Sue who was a Star Trek fan fiction character which is why it is a girls name. Now I’ll explain a bit about Mary Sues below but the TL;DR is that Mary Sues are a lot like pornography, you know it when you see it. Characters need flaws to be interesting, be it physical, mental, or emotional flaws. Now writing is very rarely set in stone and flawless characters have the capacity to be interesting. But a Mary Sue is more what happens when a writer gets too attached to a character and doesn’t let them fail at anything. Now being overpowered is a potential trait of a Mary Sue but is not a defining trait of a Mary Sue. Let’s look at saitama, he is comedically overpowered. He beats every opponent in in the series with a single punch, except for 1 who was strong enough to take a lazy punch from saitama. Saitama is overpowered, that you might wonder where the interest lies. Well through his overpowered nature he has gone unnoticed by the very people he saved, his accomplishments are considered unimpressive, or credit is given to other people. He also through the flawed system, barely passed the hero association entrance exam and was given the lowest rank possible and is not considered reliable when big threats are there because of his C-class hero rank. This was despite setting world records in every physical test given. These are the struggles he faces in society, but on a personal level he is also dead inside, saitama knows he will achieve the highest rank of the hero association, and the struggles I mentioned are nothing to him. He feels no joy or satisfaction when getting those higher ranks. He isn’t bitter about knowing he should be S rank, he just knows it is an eventuality. His apathy and desire to feel satisfaction or face even the slightest challenge is a character flaw. Now saitama is in fact by every logical metric a Mary Sue, people like him, he faces no challenge, he succeeds at everything and doesn’t face any real consequence for any of his actions. But that was all by design and very intentional, and not as I said before the writer getting too attached, after all if the author got too attached to saitama, he would have written in that he was happy. Now another major sign of a Mary Sue is that the world revolves around them. I don’t have a *good* character example of this but if your character is so sexy they make an asexual pop a boner, emotionless robots become jealous when people talk to them. This happens with a lot of Shōnen protagonists in anime, but it’s all about how far you turn up the dial on how much people in the series like the main character. If the only logical explanation is they are part fungus and are accidentally brainwashing people around them. But they aren’t part fungus, it’s probably a Mary Sue.

Blossom has a trauma-induced panic attack that causes her to pass out? Her sisters pester her with a song and threaten to leak her nudes so she wakes up. Blossom doesn't want to go on a mission because she's traumatized and just passed out, so taking a nap is perfectly understandable? Her sisters try to pester her with the song thing again.

I kinda wish they changed Buttercup's actress. I feel like a black actress with longer medium length hair would've looked more like Buttercup. It feels like they didn't even try with her casting-no hate toward the actress. It gives me a sign they're just making her hair short because they don't know how to do wigs. So it would either be never changing her hair, or doing it horribly. Also "compulsory heterosexuality" wasn't being used in the right context. that's not wearing a dress, it's when lesbians pretend to like guys because they feel forced to. Same with Riverdale. They constantly pretend to be woke and diverse, but all they're doing is stereotypes of the groups they pretend to care about and terms those groups use incorrectly. So even if people watched CW PPG for the gay one, they'd know the writers didn't put in any research besides buzzwords.

I think a darker tone can work though. PPGs always was a little dark, but it seems the problem is that CW is trying to make it completely different from the original show, focusing on fake self created drama, woke dialogue, flat characters and cringe everywhere. Fans will never be pleased with it being written like that

@@MatheusSilva-yu3ng yeah, in my opinion whats the point if you made a cartoon or a movie being mature or dark without adding some great relatable character and good writing, and to balance it out with some comedy, so that cartoon or movie will not felt to dry? Besides, there's a lot of good cartoon or movie without being dark, Craig at the Creek, OK. KO, Chowder, Gumball, SpongeBob, Ed Edd n Eddy,Big City Greens, Tom and Jerry are fiew example of this So yeah, the problem with CW PPG's was they just made the movie for the sake of being dark and edgy, without adding some good quality writing in it and made it different from the OG series just because the fans all grown up And i agree with you that PPG might work perfectly with the darker tone considering it was a super hero cartoon (if it was excecuted right) And compared to CW's PPG handling the darker tone, PPGD webcomic did this way much better

Y'all expecting anything else what with Riverdale being made popular enough to continue? They butchered the hell out of Archie with that show, the only difference, is that those who grew up on Powerpuff Girls would still watch a decent Powerpuff show. You know... the biggest problem with the Disney remakes is that they’re just not as good as their original counterparts(The Jungle Book and MAYBE Aladdin, however, could very well defy that train of thought) or too similar. The worst it’s ever gotten is in the Maleficent movies where they retroactively make it so that the original movie was a magical fairy tail spun by the villain to make Maleficent look bad, and I don’t care nearly enough about those two movies to really stay focused on it for TOO long. And to be fair, even the others have some worthwhile moments or changes, like the hyenas in Lion King being more oppressive and aggressive threats, the story in Dumbo being a lot more strung together, and a lot more bonding time and fun interactions between Lady and Tramp in, well, Lady and the Tramp. This on the other hand? Idk, I haven’t gotten too far in, but from what I see, it’s just big mass meaningless fluff for the sake of it. This isn’t PPG. This is BRATZ 2021 with “representation” and unique characters for eVeryOnE. Even the possibility of Buttercup being gay is hardly appreciated because of course, the only one allowed to be a lesbian is the rough, coarse, mean, and violent one, that doesn’t send any mixed messages, especially to little girls at all. Like, it is possible to have gay representation without conforming to stereotypes. The character’s personality? That’s only second to this ultra progressive thought process and it’s like, no, for the love of Christ, gay isn’t a personality trait. I can’t say much else in terms of that unfortunately, as I’m a bi male, it just, really aggregates me how cheaply and poorly their executing these ideas for attention instead of wanting something they thought was interesting to form out of it

I’m sure she was so excited to land a role on TV only for the show to end up getting canned due to online backlash. But my god this script was an abomination. I hated every second of it. And it deserved every ounce of backlash it got. I’m kind of amazed that something like that was even written and was considered funny.

Support Craig McCracken, watch Kid Cosmic on Netflix I do hate that bubbles has been turned into some party girl, like in the 2016 reboot with her going "omg yaass" and now here with all they did here, the bubbles we really know is dead oh the rest of this trashed scrip is horrible too, like making the professor into a stand in for CartoonNetwork itself, (At least it feels that way) just does not feel right, who ever wrote this script, really just must hate the PPG with a burring passion, its obvious on how they wrote this, i do wonder how good or worst the next script is going to be, but no matter, do not watch this live action reboot when it comes out, not even to hate watch it, you are giving them money when you do that, only watch it in an unofficial ways if you really are that curious on how bad it is. Also the unnecessary inappropriate stuff has been a thing in many parodies of the PPG, so thats not even new.
