No idea why the algorithm recommended this to me but it was a pleasure to watch, you had some good ones in there, not a lot of variety but you seem to be into horror so it makes sense, I still have a very soft spot for Slam Dunk, Inoue Takehiko's art gets better and better, and the story becomes more of a coming of age thing, falling in love with something and finding meaning in it, if you want something different by the ahuthor Vagabond might be up your alley, some of the most beautiful art you'll ever see in a comic, a seren and quite story as well

mangas are made in arcs, basically imagine a netflix season, not all arcs are created equal, there are many mangas with a good arc in them, but only handful are excellent from start to finish. Usually an arc would be 3-5 volumes, and what you see very often in manga is a series that starts very strong, and around volume 7 it starts to fall, then during the next arc around volume 10 it gets even worse and gets cancelled by volume 13. Super common. If a manga is a hit, they will beat it to death stretch it as long as possible, they will drag it for another decade if they can.

So glad you picked Steins;Gate! It is on my top 3 of favorite anime. It is based off a visual novel, where the reader can choose where the story would go, so there are multiple endings of the story. Didn't know it has a manga adaptation but hopefully it stays true to the source material. Goblin Slayer is literally DnD the manga. I really like tabletop RPG and this is just my cup of tea. The gods in this world are supposed to be the "player" of the game and our main character is, well, the game character. However, he keeps ignoring the roll of the dice and refusing to die.

I don't know if you still read these comments and take recommendations, but I would recommend Alice in Borderland. It's about people who get transported into an empty version of Tokyo, where they're forced to play various death games to continue on living. That's just the gist of it though. It dives deep into what the meaning of live is. It's great! If you want something with insane world building that's very adventure and fantasy themed, I recommend Made in Abyss. It's about a young girl who lost her mother in a great abyss and wants to travel down that abyss to go and find her. The catch: You can't go back up without experiencing severe strains. The adventure really starts going in volume 2 though. Volume one is more for character and world building, so if you don't enjoy that as much, I advise you to keep going at least for one more volume. If you like the videogame setting, I recommend you read Solo Leveling. It's a Manhwa (Korean version of manga). It's about a weak boy who receives the power to get stronger, which no one else can do. Also, I'm glad you enjoyed reading Deadman Wonderland!

@@Cinefessions Very nice! I don't wanna get into spoilers, but it's quite the experience. It and Solo Leveling are currently the only manga that I gave a 10/10 rating. Alice in Borderland also has both an anime AND a Netflix adaptation. If I were to rank them, I'd say manga > Netflix live action > anime. The Netflix adaption even has season 2 coming very soon! It changed the characters and games a bit compared to the manga, but it's still great in its own way. It's the only manga that made me shed a tear. And I don't cry easily. It's rated very high, but it feels like no one knows about it... And let me add something to made in Abyss... it's a *dark* fantasy. You'll get what I'm saying as they explain and descend the abyss.

Also about Slum dunk my recomendation is to give it time till volume 3 to understand why everybody think it is so great, becaus it's greatness is more related to character growth, but as happens with it and ashita no Joe that are mostly considered as the best sports manga they are a bit old by now so they have their problems to get the interest of new readers, so to get into sports manga for new readers maybe Kuroko no basket, Hajime no ippo or eyeshied 21 would be my recomendation, just if you want some advise. last, the app: Shōnen Jump+, great recomendation to get to read manga.

Read One Piece. I has officially beat Batman and is only below Superman in sales. It beat things like Harry Potter a long time ago. It is also a fantasy epic with high levels of details and world building on level with things like lord of the rings just a lot more absurdist and no medieval fantasy settings. It's long but great. Quick synopsis that tries not to spoil anything: Boy with stretchy powers wants to become the most free being in the world and he sets out to do that by becoming a pirate. Also digital subscription is cheaper way to read manga. And once you kinda find things you enjoy then you can buy physical volumes for rereading or reading the rest of it. But digital is a cheaper way to read quite a bit. Another suggestion for a shorter series: Promised Neverland. Seems like something you might find interesting. No summaries because the best way to enjoy that series is going in blind. Also here are some classic staples (giving recommendations with janky non-spoilery summaries that don't do any of these stories justice but made me giggle because in hindsight of what the actual stories are - some are kinda funny): Death Note - is a staple beginner manga recommendation for all demographics. Boy finds notebook that kills people. Fullmetal Alchemist - also a staple and on of the more beloved works that western audiences seem to enjoy that is complete. 2 alchemist brothers try to restore their lost bodyparts Skip Beat! - girl wants revenge but figures out she is actually talented and stuff. Nana - sex, drugs and rock'n'roll Eyeshield 21 - American football sports manga. Haikyu! - Volleyball sports manga Dororo - guy looking for his stolen bodyparts Gintama - samurai vs aliens comedy Jojo's Bizzarre adventures - I can't really summarize this one well with a few words. Assassination Classroom - all-powerful alien wants to find someone to kill him so he becomes a high school teacher. Hunter x Hunter - Boy goes on adventures to find his father Love is War - comedy romance where 2 main characters treat love like a series of epic war battles in a middle of some grand war. Monster - Neurosurgeon and a string of grizzly murders. My Hero Academia - superheroes, but in manga format. Also don't interact with that fan community - they scary. One Punch Man - what if you were the strongest superhero ever? Well, you would be bored. Overlord - Villain is the main character. He is also an undead skeleton. Also fanservice. Naruto - loud boy in bright orange is trying to be the best ninja ever. This all the ones I can think of in variety of genres off the top of my head that are fairly popular and are staples that get recommended. From comedy to horror to romance. Sometimes all at once. Also for different demographics.

You don't have to like any manga, and I myself am not a fan of sports manga, but judging Slam Dunk only for the first volume is really not giving it a chance to shine. @@Cinefessions Since mangas are published weekly in an anthology, authors have more time to captivate the reader than with most books or US comics or graphic novels (as the cost of reading another series which is in the magazine you are buying anyway is virtually only time). In the US for example, one can subscribe to SJ and have access to a huge body of titles which are updated on a fixed schedule for no additional cost. That doesn't mean the first chapter isn't key to capture the audience (One Piece for example has an exceptionally good first chapter from that perspective) but it naturally creates a different flow.
