Hot take: I feel like Jax had a bit too much screen time (Not to say he is a bad character, far from it but) because in almost every plot point in the pilot Jax has something to do with it, weather its jokes or character moments its just that other characters like Zooble needed more screen time instead of her being kidnapped for almost the entire pilot So overall while I do really like Jax as a character he just has a bit too much screen time

Hot take: despite being an AI, Caine seems like one of the most fleshed out characters, with a surprising amount of depth to him. The fact that, yes, he's trapped a bunch of people in a digital circus with no way to leave, but that he also tries his hardest to entertain them and genuinely cares for them, even trying to make them an exit that they so desperately want, makes him one of the best characters in my opinion.

I would say that Caine, Pomni, and Ragatha's over all character designs are a lot more complicated then the rest of the cast but another interesting thing is that sense its 3D all the art can work in whatever art style the fans draw them in so it makes up for the complicated designs of those three in a way

I think he's gonna be more of a Blitzo/Invader Zim character, you can kinda feel empathetic to them because you see how miserable they are, but they are just horrible people and nothing they do is excuseble, tho their bad actions are often covered by being seen as humor wich makes them fun to watch and even likeble So there's a cause for his actions, but not an excuse

I'm going to be honest. I couldn't help but have this theory that the amazing digital circus is going to be just like Infinity train to a certain degree. Canine is going to make them go through a whole bunch of adventures and through those adventures they're going to discover certain things about themselves and maybe just like Infinity train, this is getting the characters closer and closer to remembering certain things about themselves in the real world and the problems we had, but never realized they were struggling with. And then as the series continues the characters start to grow and become better as a person which could possibly lead them to their exit 😅

Character Hot Take: I think Zooble is a neat character who I wish we got to see more of in the pilot. I think they'll be sort of a straight man throughout the show to balance out Kinger's insanity, Gangle's depression, Ragatha's slight toxic positivity, Jax's . . . Jaxness . . . and Pomni's anxiety. And to answer the question at the end of the video for how'd I would act if I were yeeted into the Digital Circus, for me i'd probably initially freak the freak out. Theeeen probably curl up in the corner and cry cause that's how I typically react (or want to react) to situations I don't like and don't want to deal with. Side note, I'm slightly terrified of how I'd act because I have the tendency to sound insensitive just because I don't always pick up on social cues and tend to run my mouth sometimes, but as I am now I know that I have to watch out for that. However, in the literal Digital World where it is canon that you lose your memories, I'd lose that knowledge of myself and probably be a bit of a jerk without meaning to. Rip any potential friends. :p

@@BenightedInk well you do remember a lot proved by the fact that they can all speak and recognize that they aren't from the circus and can recognize the differences between the digital world and the real world. The fact that they all know they're wearing headsets as well as the scene with Pomni at the computer that is later shown to be the one the digital circus is run on also implies they can vaguely remember how they got there.

@@svgaming263 While you aren't wrong, its the lack of personal information that's the issue. While they do remember general concepts and their initial transfer from reality to digital, its been shown they don't remember their IRL identities and by proxy why they put the headset on in the first place. The specifics of that entire situation will probably be explored in the series, but I digress. Regardless of why the headset was put on in the first place, whether it be an escape or pure curiosity or some other reason, once you're transferred in, you lose that knowledge and thus have the perspective of "why am I here? what is this place? do I have the ability to leave?" because at that point nothing is grounding you. Your mind perceives the Digital Circus as real and thus your avatar body and movements feel just as real, so no comfy chair or musty room scent is there with you, which is what you expect when concerned with VR. You're just free falling through a chaotic scenario that you aren't even aware you chose anymore. Sorry, got ranty, shutting up now lol.

@@catbatrat1760 Pretty sure the reason that's the assumption we've all been jumping to is because a name is a representation of who you are as a whole person. So if you forget your name, then the logical jump in logic is that you forgot a good chunk of your personal info as well. It doesn't help that in the pilot no one talks about the 'before' aside from acknowledging general information like 'we were human' and 'we put on a headset'. Which only adds fuel to the idea that none of them remember their lives prior to the circus.

Yeah, I think this is what was throwing me off in the pilot. Pomni has like... a ton of panic attacks/mental breakdowns, in a rather overwhelmingly short amount of time. Yes, the world is overwhelming as well, but part of me shouldn't be like "Hey, the viewers shouldn't actively be feeling this offput this often" or something. I don't mind that she's worried or afraid, but seriously, she's at a 12 in panic when she should be closer to.... something else. I don't know what exactly. Mostly I just wanted her to take a few very long, deep breaths, and f'n relax and think about the situation instead of PANIK ATTAKK MODE. Maybe it's the pilot's story that's at fault. At no point do I feel like I know what an "average" day is for this crew, so I don't know how to judge it other than what I'm seeing in the pilot. Is it the writing? Is it the characters? Maybe its Mabeline?

Hot Take: Personally, I really think it's a shame we never got to meet Kaufmo, I can just taste the story potential of Pomni and Kaufmo's relationship. It isn't show ruining or anything like that, but I still feel that decision wasted a lot of story potential. And even if they still wanted to kill Kaufmo, they could have done that after they introduced him, and if the audience got attached to him, that would make his abstraction more impactful. I'd still watcvh the show, and it's still great, but I still think Goosworks and Glitch wasted loads of story potential, Gooseworks did explain they got rid of Kaufmo from the cast, and how they were replaced with Jax, and it was a worthy sacrifice, but it's still sad to see all of this lost potential. They needed to explain what abstraction is in the pilot episode and explaining it without someone actually abstracting would be horrible from a writing perspective and having Kaufmo be abstracted before learning about it also adds shock value. I think any theoretically missed potential of having known Kaufmo before he abstracted will most likely be achieved even better with one of the other characters.

Hot character take: I don't understand why so many people are trying to make Jax sympathetic to justify liking him--like I saw people say that he seems like to type to cry in secret when his friends get abstracted, or that he secretly cares for everyone and only teases them as a form of affection. imo, I feel like his character would be more interesting and appealing if he just straight up lacked any redeemable qualities--as it would go with my theory of TADC anyway! With how much the internet hyped it up I had high expectations for me to fully enjoy it the first time around. But now that that feeling has worn off for me I can definitely enjoy it a lot more and there are several aspects of it that I love!! Also tiara if you see this I never HATED the show it’s just for something that took the internet by storm I hyped it up in my mind to be something more than it actually was. It was definitely good but when I finished my first watch I had this feeling of “oh.. that’s it??” 14:46 this idea being one of the MANY things that I love about digital circus. I know I’ve had times in my life where I wish that I could just escape from all of my responsibilities and the things that bring me stress. I can totally imagine a character wishing they had something similar and once they realize what the digital circus is they end up LOVING it. Okay so personally, I wouldn't want to be trapped without a way out in the Digital Circus. But if I were, I would be able to make the best of it. I'm a content creator, so I could propose ideas for Caine's adventures, and see my own creations come to life (kinda since they would be NPCs), which would be incredible. And I would get more recognition for these ideas than I ever got irl thus far, so this would be a win for me. Then there's the food. In these feasts, I could eat as much as I want and enjoy the sensation of eating without gaining weight at all. Also being in the Digital Circus would be awesome because you don't need to get a job, you don't have responsabilities... You can just go on fun adventures all day. The annoying parts are being trapped and the risk of abstraction. But if you can enjoy your new life and therefore not lose your mind due to your situation, you won't abstract. And the good points I mentioned earlier easily make up for the bad of being trapped in there. Which leads to my character hot take. Pomni isn't a relatable protagonist *for me* (I insist on "for me"). I would really enjoy being in that world, though it wouldn't be perfect, it would still be better than the world we live in. By far. Also another hot take is about abstraction. Abstraction on its own is a very good concept, and it's too early to know what they plan to do with it, but they probably have something in mind that we can't figure out yet. But still, I would have found it interesting if each abstracted character had a unique design based on who they were and why they abstracted. For example, Kaufmo. Kaufmo is a clown and abstracted because he was obsessing on the exit, so I could imagine a clown-like creature with an exit door as a mouth. And it would fit in the story of the pilot because Pomni would be desperately running after a potential exit, but then she stumbles upon abstracted Kaufmo, and now it's the exit door that runs after her instead. We could have gotten that instead of all abstracted beings looking the exact same. But to be fair, abstraction as it is is just fine, and what I imagined probably wouldn't fit with the interesting plot points that they have in mind for later. So there you go, that's all I have to say. It's already quite a lot anyway ^^'

Aside from the abstraction bit, I agree so much! While I like Pomni's selfishness character flaw, I really didn't like her panicking from the get-go and for the entire pilot. I feel like she could've enjoyed being in the Circus, while looking for an exit at the same time. Tulip from Infinity Train is a good example of what I mean. Without spoiling anything major in-case you have not seen the show, Tulip was fascinated and exited by the new world she found herself in. It was only after things started to take a dark turn when she panicks and tries to find a way out all while trying to understand and forming friendships with the inhabitans of the train. I feel like if they did something similar with Pomni, where she's fascinated by the Circus before the Abstractions show up, it would've been more compeling to me. Agree wholeheartedly.

Hot take: While everyone else uses the adventures Caine sets as the main way to stop them from going insane, attempt to find the exit and then abstract (like what happened with Kaufmo), Jax uses his ways of tormenting the other people as his main way of going insane. While on the surface, he seems to enjoy tormenting the others, I think he’s actually using it as a coping mechanism to prevent himself from going insane and abstracting

If I knew what I was getting into, the scenario of the Digital Circus might not scare me that much. But what makes it scary is the fact that the people within clearly don't remember who they are or why they here which essentially makes them trapped against their will. If I suddenly found myself in a strange, nonsensical circus place after putting on some headset (presumably not remembering WHY I put it on in the first place), and couldn't get out no matter what I did AND couldn't remember details like my own freaking name... Yeah, that would all stack up to make for a pretty frightening situation. And that's not to mention the idea of turning into a giant rampaging monster or being chased by said monster as well... the more I think about it, the more I realize just how insane and rough Pomni's day was, and she had no way of mentally preparing for it.

Hot Take: Jax is so calm about his predicament because he's been there since he was a child, being what, 18 or so years of age canonically? You also have to consider that everyone was stuck there for years, and I do believe Pomni isn't the first new character after Jax, seeing as how he knows very well how orientation with the newbies go. A child could very well enjoy his time in the Digital Circus, being modeled after a Circus and an oversized toy box. Being in the circus for as long as he has been, and starting as young as he was, it's no surprise that Jax seems rather calm and collected about the experience. He probably sees the circus as something like a real home, with memory of his mommy and daddy fading with time. In fact, the only thing that seems to faze Jax is the thought of an abstracted character running loose. He's gotten good at masking his fear, but there's still evidence that he's concerned. It very possible that Jax suffered childhood trauma from coming face-to-face with the stuff of nightmares, and maybe even being pummeled by one.

Time for my audience participation question response: It's really hard to say what I'd be feeling on being thrust into the digital circus, as we don't yet know what that entails. Mainly, I'm referring to loss of memories. For all we know, pomni could have chosen it voluntarily, but with her wiped recollection might not recall that. Any choice we make out here night not carry over emotionally to the sim. Of course, I've been imagining what I'd do in that situation (and even what my digital avatar would look like), which would be to start exploring, learning the rules, the limits, how things function and how best to survive them. No matter my metal state, I tend to absorb info like a sponge, constantly updating my mental models and predictive behaviors so that whatever situation I find myself in, I can at least stay afloat.

in terms of my opinion on TADC I really love it another outstanding piece of work from glitch productions glad to see glitch's new shows getting recognition like murder drones and the amazing digital circus (by the way you should check out murder drones it's really good) although glitch's other works meta runner and sunset paradise are good too 🙂(also glitch productions "pilots" are more just their episode 1's of their season this has been a common thing with them for a long time) (also did you know glitch hosted their own event called glitch X and have another new show being made along with MURDER DRONES AND THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS!?! IT'S CALLED "THE GASLIGHT DISTRICT" IT'S CREATED BY FULLTIMESEAGULL"! ( also on the mascot horror bit, I have been apart of mascot horror for years I have been an og FNaF, bendy, baldi and pretty much almost every mascot horror game ever I have love this genre for a long ass time and although as of recent some mascot horror games like banban and joyvill have been lazy were still getting bangers still like "inhales for a brief moment even thought this is a GODDAME COMMENT?!?" bendy and the dark revival, choo choo Charles, Amanda the adventurer, my friendly neighborhood, DOORS and so on and so fourth overall mascot horror has been apart of my life and I'll continue to love it.

My hot take is: If people talk like robots when glitching out, they must wrap up the joke slightly faster... Sure, it's the point. You are fracturing, but at the same time, if you are in great pain, why did you monologue Ragatha? It was oh shet moment, but the oh no factor went away fast... Especially if Caine has the power of "With flick of the fingers, and the flick of the deck, makes all the solvable problems solve really quick"...

After hearing Harlequin vim thinking they took inspiration from TDS when making Pomni. Also my brain instantly started ticking gears when I heard the prefix "Omni-" and that. Also if you don't know, in the Halloween update, the Jester tower was released into Tower Defense Simulator (TDS). This might explain why Pomni is a jester and such. It also ties to gangle with the comedy faces. It also ties too zooble with the colors, and then jax with the trickster bombs, and then Caine with the GOOD dps.

I feel like excluding the initial shock, being in the Circus would be fine.... at first. But keep in mind there's no TV, no internet, no phone, no way of contacting any of your previous friends or loved ones, no death as far as we know, and you're confided to only 3 locations you can go to. Eventually that stuff would mentally strain anyone. Especially if you're there long enough to realize that even if you were to get out, everyone you cared about would be dead.

The diverge in ending up in a digital world I think is so different because things like this have been expirience. There are multiple videos of people spending days in VR. It might just come down to your ability to adapt to a new environment. How easily can you let go of the world you're in. For most I would say it's difficult, but people like Jax can thrive because they get to achieve what they've wanted with no consequences.

I’m cheating and making a second comment. After reading your about page, it REALLY reminds me of things Caine says, so I could definitely see you enjoying the humor of this show. Personally I felt really attracted to it too, but I DO have concerns about where it goes from here. And truly I am unsure if there being any way of it not being formulaic. Honestly, they set it up TO be formulaic, and I DON’T think the next episode will have as much of a showing compared to the pilot at all. The pilot was so jam-packed. I don’t think anything but maybe the final episode could top it. That said, I hope they’ll still have surprises up their sleeve. I am pretty sure they do. That’s why personally, I don’t really find myself caring to theorize. Honestly, I don’t need it, and I would rather be surprised than predict the next episode accidentally. That said, some small prediction: At some point, one of the main cast is going to get at least close to abstracting, and I think it will either be Ragatha or Gangle.

Hot Take: Pomni was orphaned at a young age. After growing up, she did research on her parents to discover they worked for C&A before they mysteriously disappeared. She went to the defunct C&A building to find out what happened. She discovered that her parents were lead developers in the company and notes suggest they were transported to the virtual space as chess pieces. She wanted to know who her parents were, so she put on the headset and went where they went, 'The Amazing Digital Circus'. Unfortunately, she had forgotten her name, her purpose, and the fact that Kinger and Queenie are her parents.

I don't know what it is about Jax, but the vibes that I get from him are pretty much the same vibes I got from Kokichi Oma the first time I went through Danganronpa V3, in which I don't want to like him, but I just can't help but grow an attraction to him. The only difference here is that it seems to be happening much faster, as Kokichi had almost a full game (which is several hours long) to build this up, while Jax only has a half hour episode.

Hey. Speaking of the soundtrack, there's something I feel like mentioning. For the show's main theme, some people mentioned that a snippet of the overworld theme from Super Mario World could be heard, mainly in this part of the song: Gangle and Zooble and Kinger too Ragatha, Jax, and there's Kaufmo (Woohoo) Day after day after 🔂 day after 🔂 day after day we fly Past the moon and the sun and we don't know why I'm not sure if that was intentional, but considering that Super Mario World was the first Mario game that was released in the '90s, The Amazing Digital Circus game was made in the '90s, AND the CEOs of Glitch Productions - Luke (a.k.a. SMG4) & Kevin Lerdwichagul - originally made Super Mario 64 parodies for a living before they founded Glitch Productions in 2019 (while still working on SMG4 episodes on the side), I don't really think that it's a coincidence.

Not really a hot take but this show made me realize something. Indie animation is kinda like anime in a sense. It's something that not everyone is into, but usually there's one that some may say is "universally appreciated". I personally was never fond of Hazbin Hotel, Murder Drones, or any of those SMG4 spin-offs, but to me, Digital Circus was the Pokémon of indie animation. The one that actually caught my attention and came to enjoy.

If what Jax says is true, which who can say, him being chaotic neutral/evil, we actually know that the entire cast was stuck there for years with Kinger being stuck there even longer before Pomni showed up. I'm sure a number of people would initially be excited to explore the worldspace of the Digital Circus, kind of like how it was for Sword Art Online. The game is released, and a number of people jump in without a second thought. They play around with the game and have a grand old time, until it comes time to end the play session. Where was that 'exit game' option again? It then sets in that they're trapped there, albeit in the case of the Digital Circus, you don't really die, and the headset isn't rigged with a lethal injection, so panic and anxiety will be a bit more tapered. At this point, many people will want out, seeking constantly a way to leave the game, but there will be a number of people who are okay with it. After all, the only reason they'd have wanted to leave in the first place was because of their real world obligations, but if they're trapped there, there's no point in fretting about all that. You may as well enjoy your time here if there's no leaving. Though after a while, these people will tire of the circus, and may seek the exit from the never ending funhouse experience.

if i ended up in the digital circus by some means id probably either freak out or just be extremely confused and in shock or both. not having any memory of anything would be very freaky, plus seeing things in such a different way and in a new body would be flabbergasting. it was quite obvious tho that the characters had a sense of wanting to escape and go back to their lives so maybe they had emotional memory about their past life. if that were the case, after the shock and awe wore off id be sad about what life i lost even if i didnt know what that life was like. in short i dont blame pomni at all for her reaction and it was totally called for in her position. wouldn't curse tho

In all honesty, I think I'd be a little freaked out, especially since I don't remember how I winded up in the Digital Circus to begin with or why I wanted to go in. I'd most likely be like this for a few days, but then would most likely grow used to it once I've gotten to know everybody and how it worked. This would be especially if I chose a character like the one on my PFP and knew that this wasn't even my real body. My only complaint would be if the virtual food didn't have artificial flavors, and that would be the only thing I'd be upset about. As for a hot take on the characters: There's been so many ships involving Pomni and Ragatha despite everyone being canonically asexual, but something tells me these two would likely be close friends or more likely to talk to each other. This is counting the fact that Ragatha seems to also have a supporting personality, despite slowly losing her sanity herself, and seems to even act almost motherly towards Pomni. Yes, I'm aware Pomni literally ditched her *TWICE,* although you've got to understand Pomni's perspective on the situation, as well. Pomni herself doesn't know what's going on, why she's there, etc, and wants to get out. However, she's still kind, remorseful and considerate when it comes to interacting with Ragatha. She goes to check on her even after getting struck by the glitch on pure accident, and is immediate to apologize for her actions. Even towards the end, Pomni obviously shows that she's incredibly sorry for what she did, and is most likely regretful for her actions.

Hot Take: Jax has too much screen time. I like Jax, but the creators knew he would become a favorite so they put him in almost every scene. He was the only character to be in both the getting Kaufmo scene and the saving Zooble scene. His jokes half the time are only funny because of the other characters. If Jax would get less screen time and more character development then maybe he would be better.

I know the world is a bit shit right now but I’m still shocked at how many people say they’d be chill with being trapped there. Being stuck with only the same few strangers for the rest of eternity? The possibility of endless pain without the release of death if the AI forgets to check on you? The loss of everyone you’ve ever loved and your identity? The complete lack of control over your own life, as if you’re a toddler? The loss of real food, real air, real nature? Never being able to read a new book or watch a new movie?
