@M E Nah I think most foreigners get it and if even if foreigners don't get it, to most it's intriguing. I've spoken to foreigners and I think the cultural differences get overestimated sometimes, after all we're all human and humor is mostly universal.
@strawberrymilksamurai
@strawberrymilksamurai 4 жыл бұрын
@M E I don't think it's about the audience being foreign. People like Ricky Gervais are controversial mostly among conservatives, no matter what country/culture they're from. I'm from a country where people are mostly conservative and don't understand/like "politically incorrect" stuff like Ricky's work, but there are fans of his here too (including me), who love his brand of humour. I have a friend, who like me, is a huge fan of George Carlin, someone who is also very controversial among conservatives. There are a lot of people in the US and Europe too who hate Ricky Gervais and George Carlin. People who don't get sarcasm are unfortunately quite common all over the world

I am Japanese, and daily think about the negative side of our country and sometimes feel depressed. But whether you can enjoy your life in the country or not is uttely up to yourself. No relativity to how far the culture of the country is from your country's. Why Ryan Boundless can't enjoy his life in Japan, is because he himself is a boring man and has no creativity in evolving relationship with others. P.S. The picture of the donkey is 500 million times cuter than Ryan :)

This video actually takes power back from the haters and trolls. Because ur making fun of their attempt to make you feel bad. When addressing haters like this it is good because it takes power back from them. It doesn’t fuel their comments. I don’t like when people address or talk about haters in a video and it ends up a hate video or the creator stoops to their level and acts like them- then it just add power to the haters and fuels their hate. That’s when it is better to just ignore the haters. But when u do it like this- how you turned it into a comedy and entertained others then you took power back from the haters the negative and hate and turned it into positive and took the power back from them. More creators should do this if they are going to address it. If they can’t do it like this then just ignore them.

Seriously, though, making hateful comments towards a guy who seems to be pretty openly cynical and sarcastic is the most asinine thing. Like, you hate them, but all you're doing is basically giving them fuel for a new video that will give them more views, entertain his actual fans some more, and you'll come off being insulted anyway. Everyone wins but the haters, lol. This guy's honestly one of the best at this. Most of his videos are hilarious. Truly, his humour is like a magic. ...Alright, I'll show myself out.

Hateful comments my ass. :D What you whiny crybabies call hateful and haters these days is astonishing. " Like, you hate them, but all you're doing is basically giving them fuel for a new video that will give them more views, entertain his actual fans some more, and you'll come off being insulted anyway." Yeah, fanboys are easily entertained. I am not quite sure if aiming at low hanging fruits might grow his channel. :)
@peachykeen1294
@peachykeen1294 7 жыл бұрын
It is actually not that astonishing when you consider the fact that the term "hater" is a slang word that has become synonymous with jealousy and evny along with being defined as someone who who is a negative critic then that encompasses a lot of people. Everyone is prone to jealousy and envy and everyone is prone to being critical and negative. Then there are just people who are nasty and insulting for no good reason ;)

+electrabot Haha, I say the same thing! But I've also heard that those videos are to troll people. He feels too many people living in Japan make it out to be this fantastic, amazing place that can do no wrong, so he sets out to "dream crush" new hopefuls to the country. I've never gotten that feeling from any JVlogger, personally, but of course they're going to talk more about positives than negatives considering most of the big names have chosen to live in Japan for the rest of their lives. This said, even if he's joking about those videos, I DO think he's honestly unhappy there. He had a vacation video some time ago (I've not watched anything from him in over a year) but he went on about all the things he was happy to not deal with on the vacation but...never did he do the "compliment sandwich" (taking a page from Family Guy). Nothing he said ever hinted at him liking much about Japan and if so, it was so miniscule, all the negatives overshadowed it. Oh, and someone else I watch said that he was going through some rough things in his personal life about a year or so ago and I can understand how that can make someone less patient with the things a foreigner puts up with in a different country (like being stared at, for example). Still though...I think it might be time for the poor guy to look for his next adventure elsewhere :/ Japan seems to have dragged him through the wringer.

9:12 I thought Natsuki said "Let's enjoy uploading Japan together!". On 2nd listen I realized he said "Abroad in Japan", but either way, I think it could be your next shirt branding. Just like the Engrish on all those products. "Let's ________ (Insert anything here)". #Natsuki4President

For the record, my partner and I "LOVE" watching your channel, its been great seeing your progress in how your video editing and, overall chanel has improved and evolved over time...(much like a pokemon ;) hehe! Terrible joke I know... But all in all, I think your chanel has to be my favourite youtube channel "EVER", you've got a great sense of humour, I love your chill music taste, and yes, to give a shout out to Natski (hope I spelt that right), I love his crazy, fun sense of humour, you've got a great friend/co-host. Hopefully when i finish my Japanese Language course in Australia (which you greatly inspired me to do) I might bump into you or Natski someday, would be a great honour. All my love to you both ^w^ xx

Your storyboard sketches taking the piss out of Dao Pham, worth the view alone [retro traditional sketch art! Tell me you did those, or fib, it's okay in showbiz], but the production value and writing, so well done. Late to the show I am, but no less appreciative. Key to a successful travel show [like Bourdain, RIP], the authentic passion of the host - you have that in spades. Thanks for a rare binge watching for this viewer. Who needs sleep?

Yep, miserable bastard. The one that made me laugh was, after finally arranging to *fuck off* and make Japan even better, he decided to stay. Why the earth-shattering backpedal? He got a girlfriend and lifted his level of misery slightly. [eye-roll]

He is a living example of "attitude is everything." I lived in Japan for seven years, I can get where he is coming from sometimes. I had bad days where things frustrated me, but you have those bad days anywhere. You can't summarise your experience by using all the negatives. I also had so many great days and great times and great friends. I don't think he really integrated, and he doesn't seem like someone I'd be comfortable being friends with because of his negativity. That's probably where the issue lies.
