Built two of these 30 years ago...one for me and one with my father. I still have both of them now that my day has passed. I killed over 20 deer with mine over the years until I got a Lyman Great Plains Rifle. Killed may deer and turkeys with that one too. Just turned 59 and my son and I are getting ready to build two Kibler's rifles together. He is building a .32 caliber Southern Mountain Rifle for Squirrel hunting and I am building a Woodsrunner rifle in .50 caliber for deer. Looking forward to hunting with this rifle, and knowing that someday they will all be in his hands still in the family after I am gone. Love to know that we are building a lifetime of memories one rifle at a time.

I bought a CVA Hawken kit 45 years ago. It moved around with me for 15 years, then spent the last thirty years under my bed. As I recently retired I now have time to work on it, and rescued it from under the bed a week ago and went to work on it. These videos have been a great help! Luckily all parts were still there, and its looking great. I'm ready to start applying finish, and can't wait to see (an use) the finished product.

No suggestions here. That's a fine looking rifle and the attention to detail shows.

Nice to see an old cva get some attention. They were underrated then and especially now. Still have a dozen or so old cva's

Hi Ethan. Thanks for walking through the build process and sharing your experience. I've wanted to build a muzzleloader for decades and finally retiring has given me a chance. You gave me insights and some tricks of the trade that I enjoyed watching and learning. My first rifle a Traditions Deer Hunter is ready for final assembly. Looks great and benefited from what you shared. A Hawken was a 2022 Xmas gift that I'll have more confidence building. A Navy colt revolver is also in the wings. Thanks again for this series and your other videos!

Great video. It brings back good memories of my first one from 1978. At 14 I started deer hunting with it realizing It would be more accurate than slugs of the day. I took many deer with one like that. Untill i moved to PA and had to use a flintlock but by then the bore was getting pretty loose. Great videos and keep them coming

Came out great. Something you might try to see if you like how it looks is Burnishing the wood with a polished metal like a spoon. Pushing down while rubbing the spoon across the wood really gives it a nice look.

Good job Ethan, that looks great. Looking forward to the buffalo horn build. I would really like to see what you could do with a Kibbler kit, they make a nice piece with wood ranging from above average to top shelf. Jim is a fanatic about the quality of his kits.

@@ILoveMuzzleloading I sent an email and picture of a recent restoration I did of the same vintage CVA Hawken model. I just finished it and will sight it in soon. It should be a great shooter. The bore is in excellent condition. Looking forward to your next build! 👍

Can you guys do a review on the Woodman arms muzzleloader? Please TY

That really appears outside the scope of this channels videos. They mostly focus on historical weapons. With that said, those are some interesting looking rifles…

Youn an also use WD40 as a cutting agent to buff it with the wool...then tack it off..let dry..then re apply light coat oil..using wd40 Acts like wet sand. With Steel wool

If you enjoy learning Ethan you would have bedded that tang so the stock does not split. Also if you enjoy learning you would know by now 3 in 1 oil has no place in firearms except for emergency where no other oil is available. All in all the gun looks great. I wish we could have seen you shoot it.
