Big day, my bros. This is the first mission in Commander Mode. My intent was to start an Ironman Save and make this a series. Unfortunately, I selected 'New Game' rather than Single Player>New Game> Ironman. So alas, this video is actually a normal Commander mission. I will however be starting the Ironman mode tonight and picking up on mission 2.

Yeah first time playing and they're 100% more competent than I am (I shouldn't be their commander). Really cool to see 'em pie doorways and gradually clear rooms and hallways together. There are a few hiccups, but most are due to me not used to this level of tactical gameplay.

A rushed out product that under delivers is not a high bar.

It really seems from looking at the discord and chatting with some people that for 50% it's utterly flawless and the other 50% are running into all kids of issues and bugs. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix for this issue but hey, who knows. Guess it's time to sit back and wait for 6DIF update and see if that's any smoother of an update, which I think it will be.

Launch day was actually 2am on a thursday for me. Needless to say, I did not regret losing sleep just to play this for a measly couple of hours before I had to immediately rush to the office and I look forward to playing it again as soon as I arrive home later today. Void did a marvelous job with the swat AI. It is everything I have wished for ever since I started playing Raven Shield as a kid decades ago.

There are a few QoL things that if void could patch in by the next update it would be great: first things first it would be great to have the character automatically return to low ready or high ready when you release the ADS button like in ground branch cause it kinda gets tedious after a while where you have to press anything to return to high/low ready, after that it would be adding a dark mode for the apps on your chest rig tablet cause every time you open it you’ll get flash banged and lastly even though the police station is a great area to roam around it’d be cool to have the option to load into a campaign mission straight from the main menu but return to the police station for evaluation after each mission

One thing I noticed before, which seems to be the case still hard to tell, is being able to tell who red is vs blue lol. Itd be nice if they had an indicator on them, maybe an option to turn off an on. Like red and blue patches on the back of the headgear or something. Othwrwise, looking forward to playing it tonight. I havent played in a while.

You can enable small unintrusive name tags above their heads that will be red/blue according to their team color. I also gave team red tan outfits and team blue black ones.

I'll be honest I just gave Blue & Red different T-shirt and equipment color. That way I can instantly tell them apart. Some sort of optional patch or light indicator would be neat tho

You can bring up your team cam by hitting T and it shows you which team cam it is. That is how I separate the two. I also changed their clothes or gear to differentiate between them quicker.

I thought I just sucked but watching THIS dude playing and having a hard time with the same things made me feel a lot better. Bro, this game is no joke. Fr. One of the most try hard sims I've ever played. It only takes ONE slip. A very small one that could be it. Literally game over. Dozens of hours thrown away in a blink of an eye. And this alone makes this game SO amazing. It's one of those games that can get SO stressful you start wondering why we keep torturing ourselves with it. But it's cool haha. 100% one of the best games I ever played. Can't wait till I get really familiarized with the controls and commands and start flowing more naturally. The little improvement I had in it made the game way more satisfying. Thank you Void Interactive for this master piece. For real.

I'm so impressed and even more so PROUD of the devs. The SWAT AI feel so real instead of being mindless computers with human bodies that follow you because a program says so. The voice lines, movement and overall tactics like holding their gun on a door when moving is such wonderful details. The issue of Suspect AI being unrealistic in some cases and also having Aimbot later on in the harder levels is still here, but I'm certain the devs will really feel the wonderful emotion that is progress and feedback from a happy community and use it to work hard on the game for very long.

If you press the "Z" key (if you have it bound correctly. It basically is a quick action for the team that is currently free. Eg I would set Blue to cover in one area. And then to clear the rooms around this area I would use the z command (which in this case would only use Red team) this allows for quicker action and clearing when needed. I would recommend you play around with it as it could help in some cases and it bypasses a lot of the faffing with the Menu system. You can also use this "Z" key to get the AI to handcuffs people and so on. P.S. really good videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on tactics, very interesting.

just spent a good portion of the day playing it. a ton of improvements in both the AI as well as the overall story and atmosphere. I love how the game is nudging you towards using non-lethal means as much as possible, and I think the second mission really sold me on that (just watching the chat on the monitor scroll by and then it hit me that this kind of stuff _really_ happens, and I shouldn't have such a twitchy trigger finger). I'm still learning how to corral the AI, as well as figuring out what loadout works best for me (LVAR is a ton of fun) but I can't wait to fully dive into the full game after playing in early access for so long!

I tried to go full less than lethal (with side arm as last resort). Your team will be really thankful. Just be aware that 5 guys with pellet guns VS. one armored guy with an LMG is NOT the way. But teammates are great so if you get your less than lethal shots off someone, your teammates will prioritize other targets and let you deal with the disoriented suspect.

So excited to watch you playing this through, although i wont watch missions I've not played yet! The game is in an incredible place now. So much better than before the update. It is pretty much fully realized now! Did you notice the dead civilian in the restaurant next to the dog is labelled as "Deceased veteran"? His CCW is next to him. Poor guy clearly tried his best. My run ended on mission 3 when I got one shot in the head whilst ascending some stairs. Shows how easily it can all go wrong!

The new update is 🔥! I haven’t found anything I am unhappy with. The AI teammate movement is top notch now compared to what it was. You don’t have to tell them to shield up. They collect evidence and secure suspects and bystanders freely! New maps, with story line and content! It was well worth the wait now that we have seen what they did! I was really getting tired of waiting and was starting to lose hope as other games came out.

Only had time to play through the same mission as you, but it feels great. It will take time to get to grips with the new AI controls, but it really feels like you have much better control over the AI squad. My only complaint so far is that they do a little bit too much! Like leave something for me, boys! 😂 In all seriousness, I imagine that will push the player to get more directly involved with each action. Good early impressions!

I am having a BLAST in Commander mode, the new AI is fantastic and it finally feels like playing SWAT 3 like when I was a kid. The update itself is huge, RoN has set a new bar for tactical shooters and I don't think most games will ever reach it.

Definitely keep going with the series! I'm a big fan of these types of games since the OG Rainbow Six and SWAT series, but I play mostly SP. Have been waiting to see this kind of SP/Campaign content to decide if it's worth pulling the trigger on. Btw, found your channel through DK2 content, which I love cause it scratches that itch from the planning mode of the first R6 games. Naturally, when I found the mod Nexus for it first thing I did was download the R6 squad :D

The new AI is actually more competent than some people I've played with. Superb step up for AI in a tactical shooter. I used to just send them away while i did work, but now I'm actually relying on them, and it's working. Very little micromanagment needed for them.

Tip for all those looking to play. Launch the game in dx12. It will eliminate most of the performance issues that users are experiencing when using dx11.

The AI in this is one of the best seen tbh for this stuff. It so difficult to make them react where they just not tripping over one another. Need to play again, I haven't for about a year now as my friends aren't into the slower tactical gameplay like me. Although at like 15m32s the AI turns back on open door rather than cover isn't good. They need to make a way for the AI to pin door as everyone moves rather than reacting to player initially.
