Think of this: Shelby and his team, including Miles, re-engineered the GT to use a 427 engine that could withstand running at near redline for 24 hours, or over 3,000 miles around the town of LeMans while driving half the race in the dark and the rain.

I still can't believe that I saw this car in person, last year. I recommend to everybody to visit Revs Institute in Naples, Fl. I flew from North Carolina and I met my cousin, in Orlando, who traveled from Argentina. We both drove there in a 2020 Mustang GT that we took in Orlando airport. We stopped at Sebring first to take some pictures and then we visited the museum. What an experience! Incredible, the quality and the quantity of beautiful and extremely well maintained original cars is unique. It's like finding the Holy Grail of car museums.

All those sleepless night . Shelby Working round the clock to make this car. Thoose guys were Racing Legends. No one can be like them. Ford is nothing without Shelby.

One question did the 427 in GT40 used push rod or ohc it doesn't sound like that deep rumbling v8
@rossvoorheis23914 жыл бұрын
This car is indeed a single cammer! The sound you're hearing is thanks to several things: first, the 12.5:1 static compression ratio gives it a flatter, more "poppy" sound unlike the deep rumble heard in something like a long-stroke 428. Second, this car uses hollow exhaust valve stems to reach a max rev of 7400 RPM, and this exceptionally light valve train causes a characteristically high idle.
@nevetslegasi56862 жыл бұрын
I could listen to that idle all day.
