More than fair offers. Seems like most places are trying to double their money or more so it's nice to see someone giving fair prices.

The 1853 with Ray's was only a one year thing. The following year the removed the Ray's. Something I've learned over the years.

Wow... Really good video. Thank you so much for showing us the other side. Since I have a huge collection (no exaggeration), my biggest concern is that my children take it to a reputable dealer for sale. I have decided not to liquidate it myself. I just love coin collecting too much for that. So, my children are going to be left with that task. My main goal now is to collect the names of 3-4 reputable dealers so that, when I pass, they'll know who to take it to. Anyway, thank you for a great appraisal video. Much appreciated.

Your channel is the best I’ve found. For a new inexperienced coin collector, I’m trying to learn as much as possible and each of your videos answers my questions in the clearest way. It’s overwhelming the amount of knowledge one needs to be successful and your help is extremely appreciated. Thank you

When did I apologize?
@wandlbaker4 жыл бұрын
@@CoinHELPu You didn't but when you have to explain over and over WHY you charge what you do (in profit margin for those who know) it can SEEM like an apology. I love your videos. Do not look at my comment as an attack but a tongue-in-cheek bit of encouragement. WASH YOUR HANDS

It still amazes me that alot of these 100 year old coins can only be worth a few bucks. It really shows it doesnt cost much to start a nice collection . Instead of buying a latte buy a couple old coins👍

Man, Daniel… well done, I don’t consider myself a coin dealer or anything but I am a estate jewelry appraiser and buyer for a jewelry store and we definitely buy coins by the bot load at our store and our pricing structure and thought processes are right in line with yours. Loved being able to hear what goes through your head when you’re looking at a collection like this… I feel like your evals and offers were strong (for that time, or even for this time as well)… nicely put together man

My belief in why the Capped Bust is popular is because early coinage is often much higher in cost, like the Draped Bust, and the Capped Bust is much more affordable for most buyers. Often times, the Capped Bust is also cheaper than the Seated Liberty and other post-released coins.

Ty for sharing. 40 yrs of collecting, I always have steer clear from problem coins. Some dealers on eBay will have a whole host of 60 or 80 problem coins mostly asking top- dollar I feel sorry for anyone that buys it
@pauld87904 жыл бұрын
That's a very fair deal if he put that all up on eBay it would cost him $90 in fees plus he would have to ship package everything and I bet he wouldn't even get that amount or say if he did that would be a lot of work to get the same amount or little more

That flying eagle may have been dug. As someone who has been metal detecting since 1993 I have seen a lot of environmental damage on coins. I'm in AZ. It depends on the soil. An 1874 shield nickel I detected in a ghost town has a nice "desert varnish" and no pitting. The 1909s Indian head I dug in a downtown Phoenix lot has a lot of pitting, most likely fertilizer. Some of our coins come out green, some red. The silver dug in ghost towns and mining camps is frequently black.

Great video Daniel! I just wanted to let you know that I got my Walker in the mail and was very satisfied! Also, I pierce the cello windows too and then pop them out, but I use pointy round tooth picks to pierce them. That way the coin is protected using a soft wood. On some of the mounts, the coin is about the same size as the window and in that case, I just use scissors to cut around them, since there's no space for the tooth pick. Take care!

You do the same thing I do when I take coins out of those 2x2 cardboard flips, I just pop the coins out of the window, it's a lot safer than trying to get it out by removing the staples. I have some coins in my personal collection that I need to get appraised at some point for insurance purposes. Thank you for another great video.

Hi Daniel, thanks so much for all the great info you have provided, as I continue to educate myself in the world of coin. I do believe that I have come across a 4th Ike silver 1971-S. I have been researching this coin for some months and feel its time to reach out. Although all the signs are there, it has some very unique characteristics that I can not identify. I would like very much to share this info, not just for myself but the entire coin community. I look forward to your response.

I'm a specialist in Indian cents and I won't touch the dark coins. They're tough to sell. A nice chocolate-brown color is hard to find on some on the semi-key dates and if you find one it is worth a premium. But nobody wants the dark ones, even at a discount.

Wow, Daniel!! That was really, very interesting! If I had coins to sell, especially a nice collection like that I definitely would send them to you! And I would be very satisfied with your offer! I found it interesting because that collection looked like it had been in those folders and belong to someone for quite some time, each coin having it’s own collection story I’m sure. I would love to pass something like that on to my children/grand/great-grand.....and I do have a grt-grandson who has a budding interest in coins, already an entrepreneur and a saver at his tender age of 11. Anyway, love the video, Daniel, so enjoyed listening about ea coin👍🥰

So buy some? Or is the meaning of "would love to have" a covert form of asking for a freebie? Anybody into coins enough to be on KZbin watching videos probably has some,, or just spends time trying his luck on someone else's generosity.

I'm looking for your video that you made asking if coin shows are relevant anymore. Now is a good example of why the answer is yes they are still needed. Many dealers rely on the shows to get coins for their clients. Many coins are not worth getting graded so they'd rather have a dealer pick them out rather than getting cheated on ebay.

Genuinely interested in this video. Here in the U.K. we would struggle to sell any coins in such worn condition unless it was for spot price or even less... in the US do these coins sell well?
@SmouseHouseHobbies4 жыл бұрын
I collect and do not re-sell any of my coins, but do buy and sell other items as part of my income. You always have to go with a offer you are comfortable with, you are the one that has to put in all the work to sell it and take most of the risk. All you can do is make what you feel is a fair offer and hopefully the owner can understand that and then it is their decision if they want to sell.

At shows dealers will get all their problem coins together for a blue light special, real bad ones go for silver price roughly.I've bought some for temporary hole fillers and regret it later. Sometimes you can get an O.K. deal they want them gone ,sometimes they just throw them in a bowl , same price for all. Kids seem to like them ,they're affordable.

I'm a little surprised you just use pen and paper. Seems like there should be some sort of program that would fill it in for you automatically. I understand what you're saying about problem coins. Those coins with pits lose a lot of aesthetic appeal, though another way to look at it is that the coin lived a very interesting life.

The other thing I found to be odd is every one has a P and a Y stamped in the eagle in the exact same place on each coin. Anyone know what that is or how it would impact the price?
