Real Comparison: 2015 Dodge Charger SXT Plus V6 v. 2013 R/T MAX HEMI

Welcome to our Real Comparisons Video! This time on Real Auto Reports we are looking at the 2013 Dodge Charger R/T MAX All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and the refreshed 2015 Dodge Charger SXT Plus AWD with the Pentastar V6. Both are Pitch Black in color and sport two-tone interiors and a sunroof delete. And of course, one has a Hemi V8 and the other has the workhorse Pentastar V6.
So what are the differences now that the 2015 model year has been refreshed and updated? And what options are no longer available in 2015 (Hint: HEMI V8 AWD)?

I prefer the 2014 Charger Body overall. The new models have a cool more retro face, and I love the new head light design, but the new model's body is too curvy and contemporary. The 2014 retains its muscle car heritage styling. I'm hoping 2020 will be a good refresh year, where it brings the best of both worlds together.

2013-14 model is more impressive at first look, bold and more solid and striking. 2015 more linear, refined and streamline,possibly more of a Camaro look on the front which is very cool. Both very good though.

Alright I know I am going to get shit for this, but. I think the new models look awesome. Personally I love the futuristic look, the head lights look so cool. The 2015 model just has a more sleek modern look to it, which I think in its self if awesome. Still has a mean look, maybe not as aggressive as the older models but still can't say it looks bad. I wouldn't mind driving it.

I bought a 2015 charger. In my opinion, the previous models don't look bad. Especially 2011-2014 models, but the newer design just looks badass to me. Hence, my purchase.

I agree the newer style looks stealthier and more agile. The grill is a huge improvement. Was never a fan of those gigantic grills sticking way out.

I had a choice between a 2014 charger and a 2015 charger and I decided I love the muscle look on the 12-14 way better than the newer model so I went with the 2014. I like the back and the front of the 14. Way better than the new ones. Maybe in 4 years when they change the model maybe I'll like the new ones. But I totally agree with this video.

Im just getting into the more modern cars and personally i prefer the 11-14 body style. In my opinion the front end on the 15 and up is kind of a deal breaker.

I just got a 12 r/t with everything and im glad I didn't give in to buying the new model... didt rly like it. ESPECIALLY if I had to ride a 6 vs the 8 that I have

SIXFOURINATL - Thumbs up man. just did the same, held out for too long and they changed the design. luckily the dealer just cold call me to offer me a new one, saw a 2014 AWD RT fully loaded all blacked out in like new condition and snatched it on the spot. older one looks better but love to all Dodge.

The 2011-14 design looks the best in any trim. While the 15-newer only looks good in the scat trim or above trim. Reason why the new GT AND R/T got the same body as the scat trim. The 06-10 body does look good with the R/T road and track Package and SRT trim.

I forgot to mention this whip can average about 30-35mpg if kept around 60-75mpg on the highway. The way I see it is I have a bad ass whip thats spacious and looks good with the exterior LEDs and its awesome leather interior with an amazing touchscreen that practilly has it all its like a second top notch cell phone. The ride quality is smooth and quiet. its definitely a King and Queens car with or without kids. My only concern in long term reliabilty which theres not alot info of since this particular v6 pentestar engine has only been out a few years

I have a 2013 Charger R/T in white she's a beauty I did a few mods to her intake,switched out hemi badge,6000K HID headlamps & 6000K LED fog lamps & black SRT style rear spoiler I'm not done I have more to do to her I just need the time to get around to do them BUT for the record Chrysler flopped on the body exterior on 2015-present

My wife brought up this point a month back. The Fait Charger as she calls it, has a dopey cow smile and an uninspiring hood, domesticated by some idiot board from Italy ...The 2014 and back Chrysler Charger has a "There a reason why I am the preferred cop's choice, I am gonna eat you" with a nearly feral look to it..... That just the begining of the screw ups between the Fait models and the Chysler models. Biggest issue is that instead of remedying the ECO Boost lifter issue, they locked you out of the ECM, protected their flaw under threat of a warrenty, and still will not recall over bad lifters.... Chrysler Chargers, if you are smart, you can get a Diablo Tune, straight stock, and turn off the MDS without much of an issue for the ECM stock is tune-able. Oh and grab an oil catch can, 20 minute install. Fait can go back to Italy and enjoy CoVid19, leave our boys here. Let the fans of the product have control of the HEMI and how we have them built and we might toss them a bone every 6 months.

I personally only like the srt face and rear end. I don't like the direction of the "1990s, tuner scene Honda", that dodge is going toward with their current performance models. I get why people like it, it is cool and all, but it's not very retro. It looses a lot of the heritage aspect of the charger. But if it had the 2014 body, with a current Srt hellcat face, now that would be nice.

I like the new look the lights look great front and back and it looks modern and they kept the molding by the door and kept the same size which gives it that look that is from the charger family I wish they would had put more effort tours the hood but over all is a great looking car

I own a 2013 Charger AWD, 3.5, w/120K. I love the car! It replaced my 2010 Charger, that my daughter has w/150K! Not a fan of the 2015 redesign. Looks like a Dart on steroids! If I had any thing bad to say about my 2013 is I am on my 4th transmission, and still having issues!!! I will say my MPG is great at 21/30, but shifting SUCKS!! BTW, the previous owner killed transmission 1 and 2. Bought the car at 33K, and had the other two put in. Not a fan of the 8 speed tranny!!

I have a 2015 Charger Rallye Edition, last night I went toe to toe with a 2015 Mustang v6 and just so you guys know my reaction time was a bit quicker than his but I'll have to admit I was holding the lead until like about 80mph and I let off the gas because this idiot motorcyclists decided to cut us off. But i was surprised about me holding the lead considering Im much heavier than he is. Not sure if the Mustang driver knew I was carrying a v6 engine. I had the car in sport mode and i took the traction off. The launch felt solid and you can really feel it pull. I had like about a car lead , you could feel him creeping up very slowly though. In conclusion the 2015 Charger Rallye in my eyes in the best v6 bargain in the market. There are many rebates and financing incentives that Dodge offers. If anyone knows about asking for invoice pricing knows that its the way to go to get a great deal. I paid 33888 out the door with 0% finance. you just have to know how to negotiate with these salesman. They usually will work with you considering theyre behind in sales #s compared to its rival v6 sedans like camry and accord.

does dodge have good paddle shifters? cause when i test drove the ford mustang it was awful, had a weird delay/hesitation every shift, and sometimes it would just shift for you for no reason.

Keep buying the old dodge folks. It will drop sales on sxt Chargers to where dodge won’t have a choice but to upgrade engine horsepower for awd . Challenger and chargers went up to 305 horsepower but soon it will incline

The Rallye V6 does about 6-6.5. Those are the numbers that I've seen out of my Brother's 15 V6. I've seen the R/Ts Run in the Low 5s.

Well I will say this. While the new look is a Love it or hate it thing. You really just have to give it a Chance. Get you a 2015 Charger R/T Premium with the Blacktop Package and I bet you, I BET Your opinion of it's looks would change. You have to understand you are comparing with a more Basic Commuter car type Charger. &You're comparing with a V6. Nobody wants a V6. Now, I hate to Bust your Chops a little bit, but the New 15s are ALOT faster than the Old ones. They all may share about the Same Horsepower figures with the exception of the 392 and the Hellcat, but the Responsiveness and the HANDLING of The new Chargers are something that's VERY different from the Old ones. You really just have to give this car a chance. The Look will grow on you. I felt the same way at first, but when I drove one and started playing with it, I liked it a lot more. You just broad stroked some of the more obvious things about the new ones. But that car is different in MANY more ways than the things you said. I have a 2014 R/T Max, and I'm trading for a 15 Scatpack 392 in a few months. I will have No regrets. I think if you had a little more experience with the newer ones than you'd feel that way too. You'd realize your shit is old and not as good compared to what it COULD be. Because after a Year of driving, testing, modding, and racing mine. Then Driving my Girlfriend's 15 R/T, needless to say my opinions changed like clockwork.

Roger Rabbid Dude the Tiger Shark is nice with the 6speed auto. It even has a nice little soundtrack to it too. BUT Imagine a Dart GT with a 3.5L Pentastar in it!!!!!!!! OMG! I said quite a while back that I was trading up for the Scatpack, but I ended up keeping my 14 R/T, KIDS, the Sacrifice Lol! But Im getting a 16 R/T in about two weeks if it's still there, I'm trying not to get too excited but I'm excited Lol!
