My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

You have a rubber grommet where the high mounted brake light wire goes through the header rail. Common entrance for water when it disintegrates. Also keep that exposed channel cleaned out so that the water can drain down on each side toward the tail lights. I have a lot of trees where I park my van and I have to remove the tail lights and the entire top molding to clean it out every year and also check the wire entrance to make sure it is sealed. There are very small hidden screws that fasten the molding on besides the larger nuts and washers. If you shine a light from the outside bottom up into the molding, you will see the heads of the screws. Should be some KZbin videos around. Next time I pull mine apart, I am going to put a window type foam seal between the molding and the roof line to keep water and debris from getting under the molding and possibly through the brake light wire grommet. Now the other issue is that if water is getting into that hole, it’s following the inside channel down the inside of the walls. Good luck..

Water finds its way in. It better to re-caulk all areas that water can enter the van. I once had water entering the van through the brake lights over my back doors. Once we found the entrance point it was covered with industrial hightop glue. Problem fixed 👍🏼

I have “deer” whistles on my Ram pick up to scare animals off the road when I drive, especially at night on the highways. I live in northern Ontario where it’s usually bears, moose and deer that appear out of nowhere onto the roads. The whistles definitely work.

Prayer team please give some of your time for us in southeast America. Thankfully supplies are going into drop spots. We are able to get to friends with four wheel drive, 4 wheeler, and horseback. I drove in 2 hours with 27 gallons of water, from a couple stores, that wasn't sold out yet, same with diapers, benadryl, gas jugs, vinegar and alcohol, gluten free food, they wasnt getting from others, and other necessities, like anything solar, a spare generator, emergency candles. Just whatever our vehicles will hold. Every store near them is flooded and without power. Next trip in is anyone we can get to that orders online and sends it home and we can drive back in and deliver because Amazon isn't able to deliver. This is so sad y'all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
