However, not sure what exactly I need to do outside uni to be a cyberseccurity consultant. hey mate, thanks for your kind words! As a student, do everything you can to gain skills (through uni courses but also through free resources online). To be a good consultant you need to be VERY good at what you do, which comes from study/practice etc The second most important thing is to try and get an internship in a consulting firm, reach out to them and find ‘vacationer’ or ‘grad’ programs. it depends on where you live but either way, build solid skills and you will have an easier time finding a job

The best bet in terms of paying for that certification is to take on a role that requires PCI-DSS compliance and getting your employer to pay for it. Helps if you’re an auditor with CISA

Seems like the stakeholder management and gathering requirements skills in both PM and BA would come in handy in your line of work as a consultant. You say precise advice. UNSW has a great masters that’s mostly online, it has a lot of practical components. To be honest, most of the knowledge can be gained through certifications so I can’t justify paying for a masters degree - too expensive

that depends on the company. it’s not always low. But ‘entry level’ means someone with little to no experience, so it’s a good idea to accept the ‘low’ pay to build experience - money comes later once you have more experience. Be honest in the interview, show that you are interested and want to learn, and research the company well
