This Bentley Flying Spur was purchased June 2015 with a 1 year warranty. Solid vehicle and is everything you expect from a Bentley. Before you buy one take a look at this video to see if you are ready.

I was at a used car dealership the other day and they had a Pearl White 06 Continental sedan for $36,000 in the showroom. Even though someone says $36,000 is cheap for a car that use to cost $260,000, that's still a 16 year old Bentley with Bentley maintenance (your not going to have 06 Toyota Camry maintenance on a Bentley). One of the concerns if someone is willing to buy an extend warranty for all the mechanical parts and even have a mechanic check out the car before you purchase because there are some issue costing in the thousands. $650 for an oil change. If you're driving a 12 cylinder twin turbo, that's the cost. Brakes and rotors almost $3000, tires $2000. This is what you call exclusive luxury where a Bentley doesn't refresh their style for 10+ years.

Great points. Even with the prestige of Bentley for some opt for a new BMW or Benz because of the maintenance. It can get crazy outta warranty.

I take our 2012 Continental convertible in on Monday to our local Bentley dealer for lower bushings. Cost is $6,641.00!!! Luckily I have an extended Bentley warranty with no deductible. They are very expensive to maintain.

These are good facts to know. But, honestly, a $650 oil change is hokey. Yes it is what exotic car service shops will charge. But, it's not actually a fair price. This car takes 13 liters of 0w40 (~$170) and a $40 oil filter (same filter as Phaeton and A8l). This car can be run much more economically if you're willing to do your own maintenence or even if you just shop around on maintenance. Call the service shop and ask how much they charge on a same year Audi A8l. There's no reason to pay the "Bentley tax" on basic maintenance.

You point out some good things here. If you're not afraid to diy on your Bentley it'll save you some money for sure. For me I did some small stuff but nothing major. I just look at it as a cost to ownership.

I wondering where do you take your car for a service,your oil change charge is excessive ,you CAN replace the upper control arm bushings ,battery $ 597 ? that's crazy , $ 1600 for tires that's pretty high buy some Kumo they are great and cost you $ 700.00 You never changed spark plugs ,cabin air filter ?
@CarshowRellStudios
@CarshowRellStudios 5 ай бұрын
Did change the spark plugs and cabin air filter was on the list before I sold it. Last tire I bought for that car was around $200.00. Mentioned when it was all done in the video. Do you have a Bentley as well. If so hope you’re enjoying it 🙏

@CarshowRellStudios
@CarshowRellStudios 3 жыл бұрын
Great question. If you’re shooting for buying the latest Flying Spur either new or only a few years old you probably won’t have as many issues in the maintenance category. When issues occur or something breaks typically the pricing for parts may rather the same as any typical Bentley.

@@kw7807 if it’s not coming from an actual Bentley dealership your best bet is to see if it has a warranty and get a Pre Purchase Inspection from the closest Bentley dealership. You wanna know what you’re getting yourself into prior to the buying. $66,000 12k miles isn’t bad as long as it isn’t any hidden maintenance that wasn’t done. Check the prior maintenance history also. The engines and transmissions are usually solid but it’s everything else that adds up. You may not want a $5000 repair bill the first year of ownership.

How often do you change the tires? It seems like every year.
@CarshowRellStudios
@CarshowRellStudios 4 ай бұрын
Yep. 20k miles after first year and every 15k every year thereafter unless a tire caught a nail. Because of it being used as a limo service it failed inspection due to a tire having a plug. Learned the hard way 😔. During covid less miles less driving tires lasted a bit longer. If you drive one 5k miles a year and rotate once a year after an oil change/annual service you should get a few years outta tires.

@@kw7807 After a certain age old Bentley won't sell you a warranty. I'm unsure on the third party warranty for these cars. You wanna be sure to read the fine lines and ask questions or better yet check with where you would be taking the car for servicing. Also out of warranty if its a solid car that was taking care of just budget roughly $1 per mile if something breaks or need to be replaced to be on the safe side. And get PPI if you're not buying from an actual Bentley dealship.

And that is more service then Bentley manual recommend. This is When I do it myself, only material cost. If you let a shop do it then it will be at least x4. For me $1.2 per km $2.1.
